As a new comer to the Thrustmaster Warthog, I would like to see some options in Elite be less toggle and more ON/OFF (well not less, just with that as an option).

A lot of the switches at the front (i.e. closest part to player) of the Throttle are ON/OFF stlye switches, so if bind Landing/Scoop etc... to these switches the game only recognises one movement.

As a result I need to switch it down, then back up and back down again to lower scoop/raise scoop.

Whereas i would like the game to recognise a flick down as open (On) and back up (off), just because despite the plethora of switches etc... toggle ones are often not always in the most convenient location.

You can do this already but you will have to use a Target profile and set the button to pulse.

anyone, know why i cannot look up down left or right? i keep going to the custom controls and setting keys for these actions but they never work.
Am i doing something wrong?

How about Saitek X55?

If I had the money then I think I'd pick the X52pro over the X55. I've read on this forum or possibly another that this stick currently has mechanical issues. Obviously not everyone is experiencing these problems but quite a few are apparently. Try a search on these forums or google for more information.

Do you hit "Apply" after you make the changes in the control menu?
I know this is kind of a no brainer question but I've been through some frustration because of that dang Apply button :)

I have a CH Product HOTAS setup:

1. Figherstick (I just got this past Saturday)
2. Pro Throttle (I just got this past Saturday)
3. Pro Pedals (Had since 2003)

I also own the CH Flight Sim Yoke, bout with pedals for FlightSimulator 2002. In the past, I do not recall ever having any issues using the Yoke and Pedals. With the Figherstick and Throttle, I'm having a hard time setting them up. I'm not sure if I have to use the ch control manager or not when playing current sims (including ED). Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but the controls are all over the place in ED. Since ED does not pick up any CH Product (no preset), I'm stuck using the custom layout. And using that is not fun.

Anyway, I hope ED contains CH presets soon.

Where do you have the lateral and vertical thrusters configured? I am trying to decide on a HOTAS setup and after being killed more times than I care to discuss this weekend, I see that lat/vert thrusts is very important in a space sim.

I use one of the four way hats on my CH Pro Throttle.

These lat and vert thrusters are essential IMO. Especially for take off and landing.

At the moment you have to toggle "head look" on before the look left / look right buttons will work. It's a bug i think as you have to keep toggling it back on every time you use a UI panel or use supercruise.

It basically doesn't remember that you've toggled head look on.

You may also have to toggle it on twice before it will work.

That's odd - I have the Scoop bound to the RDR ALTM and it works like a charm. I move the switch up (to ON position), Scoop is deployed; I move it down (to OFF) and it's going back in.

At the moment, the joystick I will use is...well, whatever stick I can get my hands on really. Most good sticks seem to be sold out everywhere

Hi

i just borrowed an X52 with a view to checking out if I should get an X55 now or wait till xmas.

I presume when I plug it in I will loose my custome setup for my xbox pad combined with sidewinder.

is there a file somewhere I can copy so that when I have to go back to my current controls I can simply copy the file back and have my same custom controls?

if not no biggie.

thjanks

using a TM Warthog with Saitek Pro pedals... but actually I play ED without the pedals because the yaw axis is so slow, pedals don't make sense for me. so I yaw with the thumb coolie hat on the throttle.

btw. my Warthog is modified because it was so damn tough... had to bind down the main steel spring. now its a dream!

Yes, there's a Custom.binds file in
Code:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings

Do you have a Thustmaster TARGET profile for your Warthog setup? I have the same gear (as well as, well, everything else. I am a bit obsessive, so I have everything from the cougar through the saitek progression up the the x-55. Not much CH stuff, but some) and have been considering switching out the x-55 (w/o pedals; they are plugged in but not enabled as I am using the twist for yaw).

What was the problem with your Warthog exactly? I love mine. DCS A-10 is obviously a dream with it, but so is almost anything else in the straight flightsim space. And I've managed to get it to work with FSO, although that was a pain. At least the target software presents it as a single device, which is a path I wish Saitek had taken with the X-55. I also wish they had taken the time to improve the X-65; the only flaw was the total lack of give. It didn't need much, but just like the actual sticks it was modeled on, it should have had a couple of degrees of motion to provide tactile feedback. It might have been very nearly perfect without that.

Sorry to post two in a row, but I have a question of my own-

Can anyone give me a guide to the basic control scheme on the x-55 or even a simple keyboard overlay? (God I miss keyboard overlays. I remember the one from Red Storm Rising with huge affection. I think the last one I ever saw was for FS2)

The internal JS setup lists the devices as simple button numbers and axes. Since the setup program and manual use a different system, I have been reduced to laboriously building a key. This is time consuming, to say the least. At least with a KB overlay I could build a custom scheme.
