I have borrowed an x52 with a view to seeing if I should get an x55.

The feel of the stick knocks sock off my sidewinder precision pro but I got my set up so well with my sidewinder stick combined with an Xbox pad that I am not sire which I prefer. I am finding a lack of buttons on the x52 compared to a full Xbox pad and flightstick.

Its a tough one. The x52 is better but I need a setup completely free of the keyboard for when I use the rift. I don't think I can do that with the 52 and presumably the 55 is the same

The X55 has a lot more buttons than the X52

Is that so? Now that is some good news:) enough to map all the controls to it?

Thanks

Yeah, the throttle on x55 has improved quite a lot more now compared to the x52's. You have more usable buttons/hats. The stick is also improved in the hat/button department over the x52's.

But in the end I had to return my x55 the first day I got it, clicking a lot on yaw and grinding. TBH at $200 you'd expect a better quality but I guess its not true. In the process of getting a all CH set up. Maybe down the line when Saitek gets the x55's kinks out I might revisit it.

TBH I was strongly considering the CH combo as well but reading the reviews on amazon it seems like the CH products and customer service is not as great as they used to be.
I am not saying Saitek is any better, thankfully I did not have to contact them yet.

We'll see how the X-55 works out in the long run, but I am ready to RMA it as soon as I find any issues with it.

well i stole another 40 mins play before bed. I am getting better with the stick now. it is most certainly a more immersive solution than mine. I think i shall be putting in an x55 order in the next day or so.

right now for me it is certainly less effective. getting used to a new stick, and a new ship (my eagle) and i was getting way fewer kills but still much fun!!!

i need to get at least 1 cannon. 3 lasers take way too much energy

I got a Saitek Pro Flight switch board yesterday.

Included drivers and software are pretty useless since they are *extremely* geared towards FSX and XPlane only, but there is a GUI application going around the internet that essentially allows you for custom keypresses on switch positions, including keypress sequences. I just put some tape over the original text and now I can use the switches for subsystems. What's cooler though is that I can use the engine selector for custom energy distro setups, so full left is all power to systems and one to engines, next is full systems and two to engines, middle is full engines, etc.

CH Fighterstick and Throttle Pro config?

I have just bought myself this joystick/throttle combo, and while it seems to work ok I'd love to hear how you have configured your setup - I am sure mine is sub-optimal given the number of knobs and settings available :)

Also, I can't get the mini joystick on the Throttle to do anything in the game; if you have a suggestion, I am all ears.

Thanks!

I got an X52.

Very nice to use.
However one thing that is a bit annoying is that if the stick is off centre in (pitch/yaw) then occasionally when swapping between instances in the beta then the previous input will then be default.

ie if you were yawing a little when you went into SuperCruise, then you would still be yawing with the stick released for the rest of the game.

Is there a way to re-centre the stick in game if this happens?
Ie refresh ED back to default centre postion of the controller?

I have the pro throttle and the mini-joystick I have setup as my lateral/vertical Maneuvering thruster controller. make sure you set it up as thruster Axis.

as per X55 thread, after playing more on my mates X52, I could not wait till xmas

X55 is now ordered :) ETA July so it is toch and go which will come 1st this or my DK2 rift

I'm currently using a very old Saitek Cyborg Rumble Force 3 stick and apart from it being slightly stiff (ooer mrs) its actually pretty good now that I've got used to it. However also voted for Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X because I ordered one 2 weeks ago from amazon and got an email from them telling me they are now assuming its lost in transit!!. Another one on the way.

Good choice! The T-Flight is OK, pretty pleased with it myself after a couple of nights flying. Ticks all the boxes from a configuration perspective, feels comfy, amazing value. Replaced my MS SW2.

I can see myself wanting to upgrade eventually but not for a while.

Enjoy! Having a HOTAS is what makes the biggest difference.

Does anyone know if my fanatec club sport racing pedals could be used as rudder pedals ? Obviously not the brake pedal but was thinking accelerator and clutch.

Cheers

Hi Mike. I have Fanatec Clubsport pedals and I have to same question as you. My pedals are not supported or recognized in the premium beta. Any update on this matter Mike? Have you managed to get your pedals to work?

Fanatec Clubsport Pedals

I have Fanatec Clubsport Pedals that I would really like to use with Star Citizen. Unfortunately they are not detected or recognised by the game. I would be very grateful if someone could take note of this and add support accordingly. I have the Premium Beta. Fantastic game. Puts the Star Citizen Arena Commander to shame! Keep up the great work guys. I'm using dual joysticks!

You can set up both in game. I had a discussion a few weeks ago with someone who had the Cessna pedals. I can't remember if it was on this forum or the SC forum. He seemed very happy with them and preferred them to the Combat pedals
