Here a little overview on the comments of SC-Fans:

1. Since I haven't been able to get my joystick working, I've only done a little bit of mouse flight, and it seems to be exactly what every non-mouse user feared. Seems like the mouse will be overpowered with it's ability to control the ship and aim at the same time.

2. Yeah mouse feels like "space warthunder" sadly. Stick feels very twitchy and unprecise. Will probably get fixed tho

3. I was able to get my joystick working, and I agree... mouse needs to be nerfed down considerably.

4. I don't like how unresponsive my Aurora feels with Mouse+Keyboard. It's like using a laser pointer to get your cat to drive your car to where you want it.

5. Mouse doesn't need to be nerfed down. In my opinion there should be some kind of auto-target = You don't have to aim 100% on the target - With joystick you aim in the proximity of the target and it does rest for you. IMO it is the most logical way to solve the problem. Proximity target lock for gunz and lazers works. Nerfing something doesn't.

6. nonono you choose to fly wit a joystick you don't need to punish the rest of us fore it you need a nerfed

7. Most people playing this use a MOUSE. No need to nerf it so the joysticks can be better. Sure they'll get better overtime, but both should be equal when playing. Not everyone can afford nor wants to use joysticks

8. We choose to fly with a realistic flight control setup. The mouse control is unrealistically buffed.

... and so on ... (-> https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/137139/first-impression)

When reading the intellectual output of SC-Fans i can't other than promising that I will never again complain about anyone in the ED forum. The difference of both forums is like day and night. :)

I read that thread. Most people are religiously insisting its great with the only debate developing being one of how powerful the mouse should be.

You removed all the

just WOW !

type posts and comments I noticed.

For me it just confirms that for the new majority that make up the 40 million backing the 'space flight' part actually isn't that important - no more than say sword fighting skills are important for games where you just click with a mouse like World of Warcraft.

Just found this in the monthly report. For all those who saw only %5 of what Star Citizen will be and say it is all arcade and it will always be arcade. The game is not an arcade game. Arena Commander still didn't kick off fully. Reserve your judgements.

Also read this.

Vanduul Swarm is a more arcade-like mode, intended to let everyone have fun while getting used to the flight model and controls of the ships. Hence, earlier waves of Scythes are by design quite easy to dispatch, while later waves and boss-ships should be much more challenging. We iterated very closely with the designers to give them all the parameters they needed to achieve this.

Also check the Arena Commander manual out which explains the details the module includes.

Travis Day? Isn't he the same guy that a few weeks ago laughed off the suggestion that 3PV combat would be viable on WMH. And now it's confirmed by our own experience as easier that 1PV combat.

Sorry I don't buy what they say.

I have learned that the dev must choose if they prefer mouse or joystick as a controller from WT and MWO, which are projects which are running for some time, and any compromise or ballance is not possible, that is the real problem and if SC sticks to a mouse ...

*Sarcasm* Well you seem unsatisfied sell your package :) Why keep around longer. It will all crumble with these horribles devs and elite for you seems the more suitable game. /Sarcasm

"Controls are absolutely abhorrent, other than that everything is amazing. " (SC-Fanboy)

???

Maybe CR should better go back to movie making - no need for controls in that case. ;)

1 month Before the release of Arena comander, Travis Day laughing off 3PV as a viable for combat.

See the tap dancing begin 4 minutes 55 seconds onwards

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lmLb2fbeQs

Today, 3PV combat confirmed as perfectly viable, even without missiles, by ObsidianAnt, aka Granite, one of our very own:

For the best effect - I recommend playing both youtube videos side by side at the same time.

Just one example of why I always reach for the old 'pinch of salt' whenever any of them make a statement.

You guys may be discussing the game. I'm staring at a download that is fluctuating at between 0 and 370kb/s, that will apparently take the best part of 2 days to complete. I may come back to Star Citizen later. :)

Yes, but the point is that there are 2 first impressions: Alpha (crowdfunded model) and final game (publisher model).
I don't think it's fair to put them in the same basket, as in crowdfunded model you get the privilege to play it in a state that otherwise you wouldn't be able to.

I wouldn't jump into conclusions just yet. Whether the flight model can change or not is solely dependent upon RSI and capabilities of the engine, which is yet to be seen.

How is ED different from this? However, they already have done lots of things right and I was not disappointed by any of the previous Alpha-PB releases.

For sure. If you claim it's so easy atleast take it down and then say it's easy.

Oh I see, it's like a boss level. Kind of World of Warcraft in space style.

So your argument is that if we didnt complete it on the first day, (which most probably could have had they not switched it off due to utter boredom in anycase), this then is a proof point that its not for fans of arcade shooters?

...hmmmm

Sorry I'm a bit baffled by your logic.

I am saying before calling a game easy you should be able to finish in in the most difficult setting. Then you can say meh that was easy.

Unfortunately, it is much worse than easy - it is arcadey.

Well if you think so. Time to stop checking Star Citizen out.
