The Star Citizen Thread v5

I think setting Derek up as a scapegoat in the escapist letter was pathetic and more than a little bit daft, as he seems to really enjoy being CiG's pantomime villain.

He's also right, which definitely counts in his favor.

Am I the only person who thinks he's pathetic?

I am sure you'll find many on the CIG boards who share that sentiment. ;) His communication style be be sub-optimal, but at least he's trying to uncover some nasty stuff, helping people get their hard-earned money back from hands that may not deserve it. Thats commendable, IMHO, if it turns out to be true.

This is like watching Eastenders: Digital. I'm waiting for the badum badum dadada dum as Derek walks in brandishing The Document.

But I hate eastenders, this is better.

I'm actually fascinated about this whole shebang.
If there's actually people about to go on the record and whistleblow a thing, at least there's some meat for the argument mill (mills run on meat right? I'm pretty sure).
At least it's someone willing to explain what they mean rather than making vague handwavey statements about illicit goings-on going on.
Let's hope this doesn't just turn out to be "extrapolation based on available facts at the time" or whatever.

Well he does seem to have gone all in now.

So it's either a glorious validation inbound that we'll never hear the end of.

Or, an ignominious climb down..

As you say...

Oh right, Mr. Smart is in Florida. Hope he keeps safe or is on the West side of the state.

I'll be curious to see what he ultimately releases. I'll bring the big grain of salt, just in case.

That'd be a meat mill, to be specific, aka meat grinder. Though, now I'm imagining a giant meat mill that pulverizes meats into a soupy liquid. Is it wrong that I'm now hungry?

Well, Derek gave context that hurricane might hit Florida and he might not be able to post stuff online.

If anything he says is true, there will be blood. Although we all knew 3.0 felt like concept demo, confirming it (if confirming it) puts spotlight on CR about openly lying knowing 3.0 won't come at the end of the year.

I doubt there would be "blood"

I think you underestimate the ability of the SC booster club to adapt to the constant delays and changes coming out of CIG/RSI.

What it does hurt is the perception by the rest of the potential release day customers. The gaming media have shown they are teetering on going full negative on CR and his project...we'll have to just wait and see

Grab your favorite popcorn!

I can't see anything shaking the whales at this point.

They've said they don't care if they lose their money.

They've said they don't care how long it takes to produce something releasable.

If CR flat out stated he'd been lying about stuff they'd excuse it.

The only thing that will stop their unwavering support is if the project ceases to be for any reason. And then their support won't matter anymore anyway.

Well, if that happens I will just record cover of Muse 'Stockholm Syndrome' dedicated to SC fanboy base.

I wonder what the DS stalker forum is like right now. It would be pretty funny if this gave them enough vapors to form a party to go after him while his power is out due to the hurricane. A couple canoes of whales cutting through Florida floodwaters, ready to disembark at a moments notice to secure various entryways into the Smart compound stonewalled because there's actual locks on doors and keys required to start cars. Forced to retreat to their basements after the failed breach of the Smart compound because things like locks exist.

At least they'll get their Second Life (not) in space experience that way. Canoes, the Idris of the real world.

I still laugh at that 20 years comment from one of our friends.

Even my wife, who has to endure me talking about SC though she'd rather watch Gilmorre Girls for the 30,000th time, had a healthy chuckle about that one.

Hey, Chris! Can we have canoes in the Star Citizen game?

--Uhh...yeah...well...umm, the great thing about, you see...ahhh, ummm, canoes are the quintessential explorers vessel. So yeah, errm, we gotta have em.

Arguing over who is canoe flotilla admiral is the closest they'll ever get to multicrew.

Mrs Stigbob still lets me talk about Star Citizen as long as I only do it when she's not within earshot.

They'd be better off going in stealth mode disguised as local wildlife!
