Any grind, is in your mind.

Can we first stop accepting this "Stop playing the game the wrong way" attitude around here? There is no wrong way to play so those arguing there is no grind are wrong again when they say other people are playing it wrong.

This is evidenced by looking at the game onjectives.

Power Play
Engineers
Fed Rank
Imp Rank
Elite Rank Combat
Elite Rank Trade
Elite Rank Exploration
Ship Progression

All of these you get as a consequence of playing the game and having fun in the game apart from PP.

These are not necessarily objectives. They can be if you decide to make them objectives. But not necessary. I have ranked up to Baron in the imperial navy, the only reason why I new was because I saw the mission. It was never my objective. My main ship is a Vulture now, I trade and bounty hunt in it at the same time. The credit i got to afford it was just a consequence of doing stuff that I find fun.

You claim these cause grind, but only if you choose to make them your objective.

My objective is to have fun in whatever I do within the game. Nothing more nothing less.

And here we go. There are always smartasses with their - there is no "something", you are just playing it wrong. You should play it like me, or "     YOU STUPID MORON".
And Korean MMO's also have no grind - you are just play it wrong too ! Look at me ! I play it right, no rushing for anything, feeding squirrels and rabbits, having fun.

I must ask - really ? What kind of IQ you should have to make statements like this ? I'm serious with this question.
There is NO         RIGHT OR WRONG WAY OF PLAYING A         COMPUTER GAMES ! Just make a tatoo on your forehead to remember.
I payed money for this game like everyonce else, and this is my choice - how i play and what i want from this game. If my goal is to have all ships maxed out - this is my choice and i payed for it.

If you like your playstyle - then play, have fun and keep your vision to yourself ok ? If you are such a roleplay guy, then why do you care about time, needed to max out some ship or earn billions ? What will change if tomorrow every single player will get every ship, infinitive resources and billions of credits ? Will it affect your gameplay ? I'll answer - NO.

If someone wants less grind - it's his choice and his right to ask for this. And you, as everyone else - have no right to tell him, that he is playing it wrong !

It appears to lack terrifying banana-tentacles though. Are you sure it's compatible with your alien banana biochemistry? o.o

I have no idea but I'm sure I could have a lot of fun experimenting with the young humanoid. I am an Alien after all and it's what we do.
:)

Plus, it's doing it's thing on a spheroid. So I can see why you would relate to it. :)

Well, I'm not sure but ye olde Banana to Human translator seems to suggest that banana's have been know to hang above pairs of spherical objects but I really can't make sense of it all. It's notoriously unreliable.
:(

Hang on a second. Didn't I put this thread to bed long ago at page 14?

I'm losing my touch [sad]

Well, to be fair we aren't discussing the topic, more Banana to Human interactions and something to do with spherical objects...

funny thing, No game has EVER had ANYTHING worth anything more than vender trash or main line junk that dident have a grind behind it. preferably with alot of sharp teeth and OP minions. the only difference with ED is that the game feels slow moving (slack off for a moment and your swallowed by a star though) and death has the biggest teeth of all. the only grind i would change was faction rep i would make doing anything for them give you rep and missions ect give more so you could rank two or three times a day without exploit, but have the trademark teeth that if you fail or do something for another faction you get a punch to the reputations balls setting you back a few hours minimum.

We have the same right to respond to your bad ideas that you have to ask for things that would ruin the game.
YES ! You are completely right ! If some         asks for free ships and instamoney - you have a right to say that his ideas sucks becouse of "constructive reasons".
But all i see on this forum when someone ask a little less grind - "you are playing this game wrong you moron"
You have no right to say that someone is playing this game wrong. Do you see a difference ?

so I will hate on you and laugh at your misfortune when SDC melts your Mostly Harmless poohauling Anaconda. That's my right.
That's a great example of "teachers intelligence".
Duh - this guy doesn't like too much grind and doesn't share my vision of gameplay - he is 100% Sothis noob who plays just to get Anaconda as fast as possible. Duh.
Wrong.
I played this game since beta, and i have my own way of playing it. I've never visited Sothis or Ceos. Never whined on forums.I just hate stupidity.

Well I liked the game......did it all, explored 10,000 lyr out, Bounty hunted, traded, missions and smuggled all in open for PvP fun...........but it is shallow IMHO. Not an MMO............................but I must be "Playing it Wrong" according to the Fanboys, as no critique is allowed.

I have gone back to Null sec in Eve. FD will not get any more of my money!

Whining on the forum for the Devs to change the game is playing the game wrong.

What some call whining, others call feedback. Things can be made better with feedback. The question is where the line between the two lies - and for some on the ED forums, the line is razor thin or nonexistant. Since feedback can often be helpful in product development, attempting to stifle it along with whining isn't always the best idea.

I read threads like these and I ask myself... 'How many who are totally happy with the game, and have the attitude that "if you don't like it, go away", are either on the DDF, or have been here since early alpha.

Then I wonder if I should do a poll.

Then I decide against it, because I'd be afraid of the answer...

I'd be willing to bet that there is a not a single person on this thread who fits your criteria of "being totally happy with the game" that doesn't want improvements and additions to it.

This is a very interesting statement. Can you point me to some actual figures that back your statement up?

Err.....If you check the server stats (You can if you know where to look) there has been a steady decline in the number of players on line. Short spikes after each release, but a downward trend nevertheless. Also check the financial statements for FD the revenue for ED game purchases has dropped.
