To answer to OPs original question - no it doesn't bother me. Every online game suffers from this sort of thing and forums have been full of rage at quitters for as long PvP has existed. There aren't any good solutions. Punishing quitters tend to drive them away from the game, rather than changing their in game behaviour, so if you have a lot of problems with quitters you can end up driving away a lot of your revenue.
In some games, quitting counts as a loss and that's fine. The winner gets points, the quitter doesn't, the system works. If the quit is a disconnect then a rematch can be arranged and it's all good. Something like ED doesn't work like that, everyone that posts in these threads knows that.
It's very very hard to see how PvP piracy can ever be made to work since the majority of players presumably don't want to be pirated. Ditto PvP bounty hunting - in any case it's not like player bounties are ever very big anyway. Someone in a T6 probably has a few hundred in fines and isn't going to be excited about being interdicted and splattered all over the cosmos by another player.
People don't like being other people's content. Unfortunately to those making (legitimate) gripes about combat logging, there are a LOT more of them than there are of you. You can moan about it all you like, cite moral superiority and Ts&Cs, but it's not going to change anything. The problem with being a predator is that there are a lot less of you than the prey, which puts you at the wrong end of the wedge (of cash)
I (nearly) always play open, have had a small number of PvP encounters, mainly at CGs and survived them all. Never combat logged. I am getting a lot more server disconnects since the update for some reason, none so far while in pvp or pve combat tho.
Carry on, only another 100 pages to go to settle the issue!
