FDL with plasma in all hardpoints

Hi guys,

has anyone tried building such a loadout?

Theoretically all 5 plasmas with G5 efficient mod should be feasible?

Pre 2.1 i used to run an fdl with 3 PA's 1x huge and 2x med.
That took a lot of energy so I'd imagine 5 would melt the ship like chocolate fireguard.
Give it a go and let us know
 
mh, may 4 efficient in the medium can make some. all 5 probably not, so much heat, so much power distributor. i suggest you to make 2 medium efficient and 1 huge rapid fire! probably the best way, with the low emission powerplant

I think I will try it, but unfortunatelly I cannot record videos, because my rig is on the brink of minimal speciffication... I was hitting nice 15 FPS yesterday (mining ice rings)... On most other occasions i get 40 FPS average.

I will report how it went, but its gonna take some time to engineer those plasmas...

I currently run this with 3x level 5 efficient PAs plus a level 3 weapons-focused distributor - no heat issues anymore, and a very acceptable distributor draw (under 1/4 per shot). I can take an Elite NPC Anacondas shields offline in 3-4 volleys usually. I'm very happy with this setup.

To answer the OP, its probably very viable now yes - although hitting your target with all 5 at once is not always going to be easy due to the wide hard-point layout.

I tried it.

One presumably needs a Grade 5 Weapons focused Power Distributor, otherwise only the C4 and 2 C2's can fire (that depletes the Standard A-Grade Capacitor).
Could be that even then only the C4 and 3 C2's fire, didn't test such a build; if the PAs are modded for less Capacitor draw this should definitely work and permit a burst of all 5 PAs firing.

A tad unsure about the heat, but considering C4/2xC2 was no issue, I reckon firing a full broadside with 5 PAs shouldn't push the Temperature over the edge.

I tried it before engineers and it was unable to fire all 5 at once if you had a C4 in the huge hardpoint, but 4x C2 and C3 was good fun.

It should be possible now with a weapons optimized PD. But it's such a pitty it only goes up to Rank 3 as a modification.
 
I tried it with 3 and one feedback rail and one missile launcher. So not effective. Low hitrate, extremely bad DPE even with G5 efficiency. Low DPS, low burst, not hitscan, power hungry, hot.

Plasmas are by far the worst weapon right now in the game. They suffer the most from the tradeoffs from mods, have not really useful secondary effects and most importantly no real damage secodnary effects. Thermal conduit actually reduces your damage if you don't intend to cook your ship.

You are better with rapid fire pulse lasers or OC multicannons. If you do PvP get a feedback rail and/or a missile launcher. Other than that stack all them multis or pulses in combination with the standart meta FDL build (G5 DD, mega shields, etc.).
 
You sir are O.P ! :) How is it with 4 pips to shields ? I presume you have engineers heat efficiency mods ?

They're all Level 5 efficient weapon.
4 pips to shields works but you need 3 in weapons to keep fire rate reasonable, so 3:3 works well in intense areas.

I also have L1 low emission power plant for slightly improved heat efficiency (-12.4%) and slightly more power (+3.9% = 26.19MW)
Power Distributor is L1 charge enhanced (+16.7% weapon recharge, +11.4% system/engine recharge, for 2.5% drop in capacity all three)
 
Currently 4 meds + 1 larg PA. None engineered for now. Its doable against AI (PvE).
Time your shots, make them count, alpha possible with heat sink.

Damage over time is however horribly; if you have to face engineered ships of actual Commanders, I guess your in trouble.

Hi guys, thank you all for your answers...

Sooooo... I happened to unlock Bill Turner, level him up to G5 and find out, that I have LOTS of materials for G5 efficient mod... (Heatsing interlink being fortunately buyable on markets)


Now I have 4 C2 Plasmas G5 Efficient with various special effects + 1 C4 Plasma G5 Efficient with gimball/turet confusing effect.


Firing them all depletes about 4/5 of my wep capacitor (PD is G5 charge enhanced) and heat is very managable.


Plasmas though can be tricky - hahaha shame on me - I had to run away with 1% hull from Elite FAS NPC, which happened to have bursts and a cannon. He was manouvering like a god, evading my plasma shots as a jedi (boosting at the perfect moments), he was able to keep me in his sights and most of the time actually really hitting me.

I was also able to keep him in my sights most of the time, but the trailing gunsights were completely away as we manouvered and when I finally got the reticules on him and fired the plasmas, he magically boosted and plasmas missed him...

It was a nightmare of a fight and my confidence was seriously shaken ;-)

Anyway, 5 plasmas are viable and much FUN. Great agains larger and less manouverable ships.
