[CCN] The Christmas Carriers Convoy

Bringing a heavily engineered Vulture, but trying to decide whether I want that best stretch of range by taking an AFMU or adding an SRV hangar for ground functions....

Thoughts?

A competent pilot won't need an AFMU, especially with the new outposts along the way.

A competent strategist makes allowance for things to go wrong. Even when You do everything right, things beyond your control affect your plans.

My first damage in Distant Worlds, as an explorer, not as an escort (potential combatant), came from jumping in between a pair of stars that pushed my heat high enough to do damage to components.

You do what you feel like, Cmdr ;) You can rush it, if it's your question.

It was more about whether actual passenger ferrying would be practical, and fit; I gather 3 weeks is the maximum anyone has seen? And whether in theory I could sit and mission flip to fill a Beluga with people... I took mine out once, got insta-killed by a station and haven't used it since y'see...

As mentionned on the OP, that's what we would love to do, but indeed some aspects of those missions seem buggy and way too risky, on top of the fact that nobody has seen timeframes over 3 weeks. :(

With each passing day the prospect of visiting the New Worlds out in Colonia gets me excited. I've been checking and double checking old 'Lucky Luchador' my T-6, and I think we're ready - 80 tons of Tea will be leaving for Colonia on 2nd December. I have one spare internal space, so I might bring some fuel limpets just in case a fellow Trucker is in trouble.

(OOC)

You'd hope that Frontier would be aware of what you've organised and you'd see some brave travellers appear who want to leave the political madness of the bubble behind them.

I've been looking for a reason to make the journey for a while. I've registered my Asp X as a freelancer for the trip, but that may change closer to the date. My trade Python, fully laden with supplies would be nice, but the FSD range needs looking at by the friendly engineers that tinkered with my Asp some time ago, and there is an outside chance of trading in for a explorer-conda if I put in the hours over the next couple of weeks.

Besides, I can't miss the chance to earn the right to order another patch, :)

Made the final adjustments to my Cutter "The Mostly Harmless" to get her ready for the CCC.

I´ve 576 tons of cargo, 20,57 LY reach. Fully armed, good shields, fighter bay, SRV bay. Just finished sweeping the cargo rack.

Might be a little slow but I decided for more cargo = better for BGS in Colonia (?)

@ Qohen, if you care you can update my roster entry, I didn´t specify my ship type when signing up. :)

Another question about ship transfers: Is it cheaper to send modules and empty ships or to send the assembled ship to Colonia?

I'm sooooo up for this! I'm only on xbox though but would love to come along for the ride! Probably going to take my 21 ly FDL with me or my Cobra Mk 4.

Contact me or Dr Yayomeister on Xbox live. We are from the Federal Privateers and Dr Yayo is organizing the Xbox players.

With the outposts on the way, you're never more than 3000 ly from a repair facility. I'd say bring the SRV.

I'm doing the same, but I'm not going in a combat role.

fsd 5 engineered python with the right setup can do 25-30ly

I'm currently at 27 ly empty, 20+ ly fully laden - but I know that can be better. Once I get some chemical manipulators, I'll give it another try, there should be still enough time.

No, that would be a violation of the imperial slave contracts, they meant to be temporary, more like workers.

Using normal slaves would get around this legal technicality.

Or better yet occupied escape pods....
