Considering CIG have stated they intend to release something, I am going to do the following:

1. See if they release it in a reasonable time (I don't expect the target deadline of Dec 8th to be met, but before Christmas would be nice) - If it goes beyond Jan 2017, I'll concede to the DS POV of a train wreck.
2. Try out whatever they actually release
3. Judge it then (I expect to be dissappointed) - At this point, I will finally decide on whether to apply for a refund or not

Ah! But you are going to need to be more precise than that. I take you mean 2.6 yes? If that is correct then you need to clarify if by "release" you mean the Evocati PTU, the regular PTU or Live full population release.

Also I presume you meant including Star Marine, correct?

:D

You see, it gets tricky when you try to nail actual specifics of SC.

Reference the amazon/top gear thing...Didn't CIG already pretty much style one of their many many not on game videos on Clarkson and top gear anyway.

They have f all scruples this lot. Lucky for us the actual game is so damned original and fidelitous in every way

Now there's a thought. When they kept banging on about fidelity and realism and stuff, everyone kind of assumed that they meant the physics and graphics and simulation and all that. In reality, what they actually meant was that they'd replicate existing art at a level of at least 900 milliCastros. It was all just a misunderstanding all along.

And that's where they went wrong. It has to be a full Fidel, not less... :p

The full 1,000 would obviously get them sued, and above that you get into better-than-life territory and as anyone who has played Shadowrun (or watched Red Dwarf) will tell you, you really don't want to mess with that stuff.

Intergalactic Aerospace Expo, Day Four: MISC
Star Citizen: Galactic Tour MISC Ships

A Word from MISC
Simple and efficient design has been a MISC cornerstone from the very beginning. Formed in the Centauri System in 2805, the company started by producing heavy industrial machinery and bulk freighters, like the Hull series, that won acclaim for their durability and ease of use. As the company’s ambitions grew, so did their market share. Though some claimed the civilian ship field was saturated, MISC saw the chance to bring their signature style to a wider market.

After signing an unprecedented lend lease agreement with the Xi’An, MISC began to incorporate incredible new xeno-tech into civilian ships like the Freelancer and Reliant. This blend of revolutionary, alien design along with MISC’s signature form and function is why the company has been deemed “the future of spaceflight” by the Terra Gazette.

MISC is honored to be a part of this year’s Intergalactic Aerospace Expo, and excited to show off the ships we’ve worked so hard to perfect.

Where are they now?

MISC’s Starfarer tanker succesfully kicked off a number of Star Citizen’s mutlicrew and larger ship systems earlier this year; it’s flight ready in Crusader today. The base Freelancer and Reliant are also currently flyable. The Freelancer will recieve another pass to bring it up to the current standards, and the variants will be made flight ready as part of this process. The Reliant variants are also in development, although some of them will require additional game systems that have not yet gone live (such as the broadcasting system used in the news van.) The Hull series will serve as an important testbed for our cargo systems, with the Hull A and Hull C being built out as the ‘flagships’ of the line. The Hull B, D and E will follow, based on the artwork and the lessons learned on the first two. The Endeavor and modules are in concept, with additional implementation work planned for next year. MISC also has an unannounced concept ship in the works, aiming to place well in the 2947 Murray Cup!

Well its not like CIG have every been worried about stealing IP's. Someone saw this, read the text.

Personally I would have like CIG to come up with some original stuff. The problem with saying that CIG are just playing tribute to something is that CIG does not produce enough original stuff for the tribute things to be out of the norm. Instead it just looks like CIG copies everything. Sadly history has shown that copy is exactly what CIG does.

The annoying thing is, they didn't used to be quite this lazy: The Freelancer borrows from Firefly's Serenity, but a) worked at until it wasn't really obvious, and b) openly admitted. I'm OK with that: It's fine to have a few shout outs when you're making something for bunch of ageing geeks.

But put a bit of effort in. The prowler's pretty much a copy and paste: I wonder if Square Enix or Sony have seen it yet?

Well, in all fairness both CIG and FF were copying nature - that is what an Archaeopteryx (flying dinosaur) was supposed to look like when on the ground, and I would not be surprised if some modern birds still do it. The CIG guy in the making of video kept on going on about having an avian theme. Another example is grounded dragons in Skyrim waking on all fours, that was the first thing that came to my mind when I first saw this.

60 days have passed but still everything going around the same old same old. With Space COD played and forgotten Star Citizen just keeps on chugging along nicely and gaining even more momentum! [big grin]

The main man Chris Roberts once again addressed the backers with another Letter from the Chairman highlighting the contribution of the backers and going into further detail about dates and the hurdles of game development.

We have taken a lot of flak over the last couple of years for the extending time-line of Star Citizen, but the simple fact is that game development, especially game development on the scale of Star Citizen, is complicated. If you talk to any developer that works on large titles they will tell you that schedules, especially early in the development cycle, move all the time. Most people never see this because a publisher won’t announce a project publicly until it is very far along; normally at least in Alpha, with all the technology and gameplay R&D completed. Even then, the time-lines can be unpredictable as can be seen in the delays on big name titles from publishers.

Something that many said here, me included, nothing new. Game development is bound to have delays and changes to scope, features and whatnot. The main thing is that progress is being made into a better game. The best game possible.

From my last funding recap till now and contrary to some hyperbolic predictions of "eminent collapse" and "negativity at full swing" nothing seems to stop Star Citizen progress now with 4 Millions Dollars more later and +100.000 Star Citizen backers more registered at their website 2016 is proving out to be CIG's most profitable and conclusive year!

Bats do it, not modern birds. Still that is a stretch of an excuse - especially with the screenshot showing "looks too much like the FF ship still."

That means that someone internally remarked on the similarity and they're aware of it. I haven't been keeping up with SC too much lately, I thought that ship is still in the not yet flyable state? that would mean they're still free to change it.

Well, only up to a point. If I dropped the $425 they're asking for a Prowler with LTI, I'd be a bit miffed to wind up in something else. I'd be verging on vexed, to be honest.
