The Star Citizen Thread v5

You have to laugh at the justfication being put forward by the reddit guys. It's ok when CIG make blatant copies of other's IP but they were far from happy when Piranha Games were doing the same with their Transverse game....

(semi)competent at producing commercials?

Nah, they are really good at it. If it does turn that they've went south, belly up, fallen off their perch... then Frontier should employ them to do their adverts. The great thing is that Frontier wouldn't have to pass them the geometries of their ships. CIG would be able to make reasonable facsimiles quicker than the time it would take to convert the information over.

Oh my these are so cliché, cheesy and cheap... Like a bad B movie on an subpar cable TV channel. Maybe effective at money grabbing, yet this doesn't help me keep the few flames of hope towards this project alive.

Ah! But you are going to need to be more precise than that. I take you mean 2.6 yes? If that is correct then you need to clarify if by "release" you mean the Evocati PTU, the regular PTU or Live full population release.

Also I presume you meant including Star Marine, correct?

:D

You see, it gets tricky when you try to nail actual specifics of SC.

I mean the 2.6 release to production environment (where all backers can download). And whatever that actually includes. :D

Hello,

Thank You for contacting us and bring this to our attention .

I have nothing to suggest that it wasn't all agreed and above board (except CIG's past record), but at least Amazon are now aware and can do something about it if they want to.

My previous experience with folks who manage brand identities and the like is that they tend to be extemely precious about their stuff. I think either Amazon will just ignore it as "one of those things not worth the bother", or you may have stirred up a bit of a crapstorm :D

I remember Mojang's Scrolls vs Bethesda, The Banner Saga vs King... I don't get how CIG legal corpse is still wiggling. Maybe Freyermuth is ace at his job.

That's a remarkably sane and level-headed approach. We must be on different Internets. :D

Sane? I suppose it depends on your point of view :)
Perhaps the really sane thing would have been to get a refund 18 months ago, forget all about Star Citizen, and get on with other things....
On the other hand, the whole process is very entertaining - so, swings & roundabouts :D (ooh, and Asp's lulzbuckets, can't forget those....)

38 days to New year's eve...

And funny, I don't do counting because of CIG. I have enough of 2016.

Still don't believe 2.6 PU will land this year. They might want to force it out though disregarding image.

Same time it seems media has turned on CIG, all articles have "enough is enough" feel.

Process is definitely very entertaining and I expect even more drama in 2017...
After watching SM fps part, i am 100 % sure that in best scenario they can deliver an average game and nothing more..that is definitely NOT worth hundreds and thousands $ that backers again are spending to keep dream alive...

Yeah. And as predicted by literally everyone except your smug self, there's no sign of either the fabled 2.6 or 3.0 patches.

Take your astroturfing and shove it up your Idris.

And to no-one's surprise, its momentum is shot and it's pretty much dead in the water. Not even the plaintiffs are particularly impressed by the sub-par stuff they panicked together for the anniversary stream. :D

After all, they all remember how AC has languished for years and probably suffer no illusions that the largely non-working tech demo for SM will suffer the same fate. Meanwhile, they continue to bleed money and have lost the narrative almost everywhere, what with their resorting to paid-for advereviews that flat-out lie about what's in the game. So the odds of them actually gaining any new backers is pretty much nil.

They are still on track for a 4-5 million month again though (according to the CIG tracker at least).

That means they break even, at best, this month, and as you point out, that's assuming we even believe a provenly unreliable source that even the supporters claim don't take into account their full actual money flow.

I don't believe that Sandi would settle with just an ordinary coffee to be used with a 20K coffee machine. Gonna have to sell MOAR STUFF.
