The Star Citizen Thread v5

I see Orlando is still pushing the usual 'every account registered on the SC website is a new backer' nonsense. Despite the fact that he knows it is nonsense. And as for the supposed 'crowdfunding timeline', I see no reason whatsoever to treat it as anything but unverifiable puffery. If he wants to make claims about how gullible the 'citizens' are, he should at least find a proper source of data which includes refunds.

I don't believe that Sandi would settle with just an ordinary coffee to be used with a 20K coffee machine. Gonna have to sell MOAR STUFF.

Don't forget the expensive cat-poo coffee which is like £400/kilo - to help power the death-ray stare ...... 4 Polarises (Polarii?) = 1 week's supply

Maybe we should refactor RSI/CIG initials - any suggestions? Here is a starter - RSI - Refactoring Someone's Image, CIG - Computer Image Generation

Let's not forget the indispensable Space Door, because, who's still using ordinary doors nowadays...

Oooh I like it... almost...

And now the new release from the Refactored Space Initiative, in partnership with Concept Image Generation - the BOLT, looking suspiciously like a Tesla product

+100.000 Star Citizen backers more registered at their website 2016 is proving out to be CIG's most profitable and conclusive year!

Interference with the ED forum (exposed gaming the rep system)
Brigading
Threats
Death threats
Abuse
Misinformation
Review bombing competition (LOD ED NMS COD:IW)

Also, this famous statement...

"We’re already one year in - another 2 years puts us at 3 total which is ideal. Any more and things would begin to get stale."

- Chris Roberts in 2012

The first entry on the list is : Initial release 2014 (didn't happen)

The source for that one is the quote you gave.

Considering CIG have stated they intend to release something, I am going to do the following:

1. See if they release it in a reasonable time (I don't expect the target deadline of Dec 8th to be met, but before Christmas would be nice) - If it goes beyond Jan 2017, I'll concede to the DS POV of a train wreck.
2. Try out whatever they actually release
3. Judge it then (I expect to be dissappointed) - At this point, I will finally decide on whether to apply for a refund or not
Though I remember the CEO admitting to use fresh income to pay refunds. Means if the funding breaks down to another blunder, your refund window might have closed already.

It also means their cash reserves are pretty much nil and they're living hand to mouth. A comforting message to both customers and potential investors, I'm sure…

This is where I usually shout "octopodes!"

Usually? Are you suffering from an infestation of eight-tentacled pedantic marine invertebrates?

Or should that be 'pedantic eight-tentacled marine invertebrates'? Apparently there is a rule regarding this, though nobody seems to know quite where it came from, and there seem to be arbitrary exceptions. Definitely not eight-tentacled marine pedantic invertebrates though... http://languagelog.ldc.upenn.edu/nll/?p=27890
