An investigation into Frontier's actions on Combat Logging

You chosed Open then You agreed for that.

You are taking the easy way for yourself here. It´s not CoD, where you can only do one thing. ED is much more. Sure, many things still have to be imagined, but it is not a pure PvP game. Your understanding of open is wrong. It´s also my place. :)

My suggestion: If you want acceptance for the things you do, wouldn´t it be a great start to accept others in their way they play the game?

@ Martind Forlon: No, you are wrong. Open is the mode to meet other players. 98% of my encounters are free from violence. And I never read about "The Rules of Open". Sorry mate.

So ruining somebodys game is not rude at all or what?

You tell me.

Its open. Its an agreement for any interaction.
I am playing only in Open. I am involving combat PvP only if i want it. If not, then i am not. It depend only from me and nobody else.

And IF i will be ganked someday, then only because my fault. I agreed for any interaction so then its my fault i allowed to be catched by my mistake, and nobody else.

It IS rud! You want to force everyone to accept your style of playing the game but you dont want to accept how other players want to play it. For you only your way is the right one. That shows what kind of character you actually are...

Nobody is forcing You to click 'open'. Open is Open. Free for all. Do what do you want. Want be a psycho? Then be a psycho. Want be a trader? Then be a trader.

You can also play two other option to play. Sorry, three, including Clear Save if you do not like it.

There should be modes:
Open
PvE
Group
Solo

and all of them should be separated, should not influe each other, and switching should not be possible or should be delayed.

And problem solved. Open will be open with all consequences. PvE for players who do not want combat PvP interaction, Group for group of friends and solo for solitaries. Everyone in his own hell or paradise - it depend of side from you looking.

FD made a badly designed game and divided community.

If everybody played in solo or private groups to avoid pvp there would not be a problem. There would be not combat logging and there would be no griefing.

I can only imagine what ideas you have about the devs. Them sending HOSTILE COMBAT NPCs towards you, the devs forcing YOU to play their way, and in much greater numbers aswell. There is no where you can hide from them either. The NPCs.. they always find you.. ALWAYS. You must litteraly think they're satan.

Besides can we get an open pirate mode? Where there are no players who can stop my piracy? Where all traders have to bend over to me?

But for some players are solo/PG not good enough and they do not need to be PvPers at all. Unexpected things can happen in open every time, like newbie pilot asking for advices, miner asking for company during asteroids mining, explorers meeting above ancient ruins or hostile squad wanting take you down and many others. This is a magic of open, it have fun and danger and it is what some commanders like most.

Are you trying to tell me that some players like to take a risk? Why would you want to take any risks in a virtual setting?

And the best thing is:
There are no more than 50-100 of people who are griefing sometimes. They have families, work, life, and they are not 24/7 ingame.
50 people in the whole galaxy. 50 people in a 200 ly cubig bubble.

And 30 000 of players are scared to death by them :D Fortunately a rest of players do not specially care about it and still playint in Open.

I need to admit - SDC and other groups made better work than ISIS :)

What do you mean? I thought SDC was litteraly ISIS.

Sorry. This is just too lazy for me. You should at least represent something that other players can relate to. Something that is understandable without any further clarification. This doesn´t happen.

And as far as I can accept that you just want a good fight, i refuse to accept the laziness when picking your opponents. I never seen any of you guys in a CZ, of fighting for a minor faction. Never seen anyone of you taking part in the actual game. Thats my problem. You decontextualize yourself. Because of laziness. Finding a real reason for PvP in ED can be a struggle, I know. But actions like this thread won´t make things better for you. FD won´t rewrite Elite to an Arena game.

Sorry. This is just too lazy for me.

Then stop looking for deep in a place where is no second deep or whatever.

Its really very simple. Open means an agreement for all interaction, friendly, hostile, neutral, whatever. In this mode you can blaze Your own trial. Or someone else trial may blaze You.
Dont fight with that, do not play it if you do not like it, and let other people to play in a way what they want, with full consequences of interactions.

Someone can be knight in shiny armour and defend weaker players (and there are players of this kind), and some others want to be a psycho. And some other want to feel a bit of dangerous when they hauling his cargo and they accepting the fact they can be killed by NPC or other player.

As i wrote. Open means an acceptance of any interaction. I chosed that way of playing. I am exploring in Open - after few weeks on exporing i am always flying in open and i am returning collected data in open. When someone shoot me and destroy my few week work then i accept that. That was MY choice.

I also traded in Open. Hauled slaves in conda, t9, cutter. One rebuy was ship+ cargo. It was also my choice. If someoe hit me then i will not have a problem with that because that was what? MY CHOICE.

And IF i will support some faction, or PP, then i will destroy enemy players ships with cold blood. No matter how weak or strong they will be. Its also my choice.

There is no matter for me when I am destroying a player ship NPC ship. Both of them are a part of Elite universe for me.

That's perhaps a bit optimistic, don't you think?

The only thing pew-pew groups like that do to most people is make them giggle a bit - they are not dangerous bad scary people you need to be afraid of :D

Problem with developing a full crime and punishment system is this: Everyone has their own idea of it. Some was it strict, some want a 50/50, some want a loopholed system, some desire for things to remain as is, some want a system that is beyond what i personally would define as fun.

If you cause or do one thing, what is the reaction to it? You cause a Lichtenberg figure-effect, much atone to this image: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e4/PlanePair2.jpg - you start at the base, but as you branch out, things will split and methods to the reaction will change.

I am really trying to wrap my head around this statement, and to figure out what the actual truth really is... Does anyone honestly think that the current system is a deterrent to crime?

Probably not going to receive an answer, but what percentage of the total player base has been forced into the position to pay their legacy fines (via rebuy screen, not voluntarily - which is the game's only implemented punishment to crime), within a given period (say, last 6 months), and for those players, the paid fines represent what average percentage of their total in-game assets?

Before you jump saying that a percentage based of the total (active) player base is going to be inconsequential because a lot of players are not criminals, I know. But there's a gray area comprised of commanders who break the law here and there (a smuggling fine, a CZ accident etc.) so you can't really calculate based on a true subset of criminal players because you can't brand hardened criminals within the game's rules. I'm curious just HOW small the percentage would be...
