The Star Citizen Thread V2.0

That is what many people would say about Tribes 1 and Tribes 2.

Of course they were wrong because they simply were not willing to take the time and practice.

I see the same attitude evident in the Elite forums where people are complaining the game is "too hard" and "no fun."

It appears to me that more and more of such threads are being created after AC release by newcomers. And most probably this is caused by AC being a little unplayable and to simplistic, where you can master your skills within minutes. These people want to try themselves in ED and then they find out that they cannot master it in a matter of minutes like AC. Hence lots of complaints of ED being too hard.

One of the UK's newest studios Foundry42 is quickly staffing up its Cheshire base to work on one of the biggest and most famous games currently in development, Star Citizen.

You see, this is something I don't like.
Some 3rd party online magazines already declaring SC as the biggest and most famous game. Oh really?
It's building hype on earliest premises, not professional, not true and above all, very relative.
But I guess that's how media works. Over-blowing a baloon so it appears bigger.

agreed, but the problem i see is the mouse which will be even further improved (CR confirmed), i just don't get what they want to improve there as already ship is flying where you point it and shooting where you point it, maybe they want mouse users to be able to teleport where you click it :)

I don't care how much will they improve mouse+Kb as long as I get proper, and I mean PROPER HOTAS controls and as long as neither is overpowered.

It doesn't say it's the biggest and most famous game.

And this statement is correct

New US studio working on the biggest crowd-funded game IP in history. And it's hiring.

Just had a quick squint over at RSI forums, and the debates are now about interpretation of what CR has said about tweaking the flight model.
I'm not providing links, but the crux of the matter is that he has said the development team will have a look at turn limiting for the IFCS instead of/as well as speed limiting, and nerfing the maneuvering thrusters as he himself feels they are overpowered at the moment - currently providing between 1/3 and 1/2 the power of the main thruster.

This is certainly good news from my perspective, and hopefully we won't get a "We did look at it, but thought the existing systems were already fine" kind of response.

Time will tell, and I am now at least looking forward to the next update or two, to see if they can deliver something more to my liking.

Fingers crossed . . .

if they promised key bindings "next month" then couple next updates wont matter ;)
they will make game playable, i am sure of it, but will it be fun that's completely another story.

I understand where you are coming from, but I think tweaking some factors for the thrusters is a hell of a lot simpler than creating an interface for controller bindings (as simple as that may be).
Though I do suspect they will be concentrating most on multiplayer and making that work smoothly, now that they have begun to roll it out - just like in E : D where all focus is on making the multiplayer work properly, all other priorities are secondary to that - at the end of the day multiplayer is the most difficult (technically and otherwise) aspect to get right.

My understanding of freedom only goes so far. For example i like Skyrim because it has content yet is a pretty big game if you think about the freedom you can have in it but it is not endless and it shouldn't be. To create unique experiences like the ones i loved from Skyrim, New Vegas and Mass Effect you need to do handcrafted things. That's why a universe of more than 125 solar systems is more than enough for me if they have good content in them.

I think SQ42 will be a great addition to SC. I really enjoy proper campaigns and we never had a space singleplayer campaign like SQ42 excluding Mass Effect. Being in to movie like experiences the singleplayer is one of the biggest things i am looking forward to.

Sadly i didn't try elite premium beta yet but watched an unhealthy amount of videos on the internet and livestreams but only bought the release version because i don't think Elite has what i am expecting it to have right now. It will have it by release so i will try it out then.

i will choose sandbox/open world game over "cinematic" experience all time every time ;)
i played too many games and know how fast i get bored just with "graphics" if there is no diversity, besides game developers are limited to technology while we are limited only to our imagination and those 2 magnitudes are not comparable. to keep me invested in SC they really will have to push bi-monthly updates content wise otherwise all this will get old pretty quick and no useless ship damages or poly count can keep my interest :)

as i understand from CR it is already there so you can try and adjust thruster power in next versions of DFM with supposedly fixed thruster output level.

also i would appreciate if you give us your feedback on the matter, because when ED standard beta rolls out i will not care at all about SC for at least 2 years :)

source? there were bi-monthly as a target at the very beginning and then changed to "maybe twice a month", never ever i saw weekly, but updates will be alot as they will be tweaking and fixing constantly, i am talking about new game content updates.

also there will be game master with the team who will make interesting things happen in the PU, but that is another story ;)
