I'm terrible at these kind of things. Could be a system name in there. The asterisks look like they are probably meant to divide the numbers into groups. Not entirely alphabetical content though since there are numbers greater than 26. Maybe 27=1, 28=2, 29=3, etc.?

Could be. When I put it in a standard number to letter converter, I got: "A G J * T V Y * A E W C W * J 27 - W * B C A - B * C D * A * 43 33 31 W * G U Y 27", which does not make much sense to me. :)

I think it's more likely XYZ coordinates, separated by the hyphens.

I would guess that some or all of the following fragment of the transmission is a system + planet name:

01 05 23 03 23 * 10 27 - 23 * 02 03 01 - 02 * 03 04 * 01

But are the asterisks part of the data? or do they denote undeciphered numbers?
The hyphens are indeed suggestive of a system name, but in 01 05 23 03 23 * 10 27 - 23 the first group is too short to represent Eafots which was the old lady's Cobra previous clue. 10 27 - 23 could be a system indicator, suggesting 27 & 23 represent numerics

These look to me like a procedurally generated system name accompanied by a set of surface co-ordinates.
The '10 27 - 23' followed by '02 03 01 - 02' looks like a cluster designation specifying a planet, with '03 04 * 01' representing 'C D 1'. I'm not sure about the rest. There are a lot of numbers less than ten here; that makes me think this is a string combining numbers and characters.

Is there perhaps a reason for the formatting difference of four of the number groups? It doesn't show on the Galnet post but is coming up in these thread posts. I copied & pasted the sequence from Galnet message into my ipad notes & those four groups are showing in a diffeenet colour compared to the black text of the rest of the message. Is this a message within a message?

Quick question people, I wonder if anyone could be so kind as to tell me the planet and co-ordinates of the area that breaks the game in the Formidine Rift please? I'm out in the system now, around planet D1, and I'd like to do some investigating.
