Game is UNPLAYABLE at the moment.

The problem is that the game being so instanced, all the griefers could be in one victim's instance while all the vigilantes were in another. It just won't work unless the victim is willing to just try to get into another instance.

Oh yeah, the technical nightmare behind any truly comprehensive and cohesive interplay between GOOD and EVIL (ymmv); I'm glad I am not the coder assigned to ever get that working!

To me the fact that people themselves are trying anything at all though, (there's a spate of counter-interdictor build and tactics threads lately for example) feels like a slightly different shade of Elite community than I have seen on this issue in a long time. Seems to me it was a lot of whine but not much engine about CG violence in days past. It's good to see anything in general besides people grousing about it in here.

PvP in a MMOG is not actually about skill. It never has been. The systems in a MMOG are too complex and varied, and there are far too many ways for a PvPer to mess with everyone else.

PvP in a MMOG on a 'blended' server is about people who want to PvP, versus people who mostly want to PvE. At least some percentage of the PvP players don't actually want a challenge, they just want to 'win' i.e.: kill players who are weaker than they are, ideally while ruining the fun of the weaker/less prepared player.

And those 'troll' PvP players have far more time and dedication to their singular objective than most PvE players will ever have. They will find every loophole e.g.: engineered weapon/defence combos and share it with all their like-minded friends, and will group together far more consistently than the mostly-PvE players to achieve their disruptive ends.

So... if you don't want to be someone else's 'content', then you have to play in a pure PvE environment. Trying to make PvP and PvE co-exist is an arms war that the developer and PvE players will never win. It will always be a matter of making it 'less bad' for the PvE players. It is that simple, it always has been, and it always will be.

Community goals are PvP troll bait: lots of people in one place that they can mess with with an absolute minimum risk. You can avoid the PvP 'trolls' by switching to Solo or Private: that is your solution. And I'm happy that Elite offers that option.

No, I love OPEN and I love PvP. I would love to get involed in PvP fights during a CG, getting interdicted etc. But it's simply a slaughter festival. There not a tiny chance that I survive in my unmodded ships more than 20 seconds. It's totally f++'d up! Totally.

Before 2.1 or whenever it was, PvP encounters were about skill. I could even withstand and or win in my Python with a good loadout. Now it's just interdiction and BOOM! No chance at all unless I invest another hundred of hours to RNGneer my ships. I simply can't do it. I've other things to do than fullfilling a schoolboys daydream playing games for 12 hours.

This is really a shame. I simply can't play the game I really would love to do it. I don't like private groups and a no PvP action/fight restriction. SOLO is and has never ever been an option for me. I really want to play with other CMDRs. That's why I got this game.

AND JUST TO MAKE IT CLEAR. As long as the game is in hardcore unbalance mode, I simple pull the plug. I had hope that when the devs got slaughtered in their Live sessions a couple of weeks ago in the same way, getting a few meter from the station before they could even think of hyperjumping, they were ripped into pieces. But it seems that the next patch will not remove this or make it better at least. I'm sure there a big player base that simply can't invest another grind season to upgrade the ships via Engineers. For this player base, the game has become a butchery. Come' get some, said the butcher after you entered his little cell in the Diablo dungeon. The Butcher's Cleaver was legendary. : D !

Again Cheating!

Nope I took an open admission of combat logging (cheating) in an official forum to be a post trying to create a flame war

Yep. totally out of order here... an DOUBLE admission of cheating and a statement of keep cheating until the Devs do what he want with the game (basically a threat) shouldn't be tolerated by the Devs and moderators, but each on their on...

Like , I got flipped in the forums yesterday (that big F word , disguised as the Battlestar Galatica equivalent) and no moderation was took into that... So looks like the forum is in some kind of free for all now...

Cheating is when you break the rules to get an unfair advantage.

Elite is primarily a game of exploration (see how many stars there are!). Combat logging doesn't during a CG has no effect on explorers, so can't be cheating.

LooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooL

Ok.

So Sandro Sammarco Lead designer is wrong?

Sorry, I have no time for engineering my ship. Have to work each day. Can't do it.

It doesn't take very long to build a defensive build. You need maybe 2 mods, either shields+armor OR thrusters+power distribution. Should take you about 3 hours to fly around and roll. The mats just come naturally through normal play. You probably already have most of them.

The mods to shield your PP and Thrusters are pretty cheap and worth considering.

If you are being destroyed by penetrating torpedoes then grab an ECM and 2 Point Defenses. If you are being destroyed by conventional weapons then focus on shield strength and resistances.

I'll second that.

I don't want to start another polemic post there, so I'll try to be polite:

"(insert favourite blasfemy there), make yourself a favor and appreciate the challenge! For (introduce favourite god here)'s mighty glory, there are so many options about this! They keep destroying your tradeconda? How about you don't use a tradeconda? How about you get there a combat conda and join the fun destroying those players?

You are not in for a fight? Build yourself a blockade runner! Hint: Cobra + Dirty engine upgrade level 3 + Silent run = "Catch me if you can, looser!".

But cheating and combat logout because you cannot adapt your way of doing CGs because of a few commanders doing something as legit as... Blockading a trade route! That's cheap, that's cheating, and that's a shame. Go play solo if you can't do any of this, but do not combat log."

I could add even more options to do!

DB scout + clean drives + silent run + interdictor = "Who's blockading whom now, huh!?"
Orca + engineered hull reinforcements = "BANZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAI!" (although I'm not sure if this still works)
Imperial courier + 3 mass drivers (engineered if you can) = "Where the hell did all that damage come from!?"
Imperial courier + dirty drives + all cargo = "Catch me if you can!"

When you look into Elite Dangerous from a pure money grinding point of view, yeah, you are right, that sucks. When you look about the challenge, these are gold opportunities!

Sincerely,

Volgrand (aka, "2 years playing, more than 3 weeks of in-game time, and two weeks ago I got enough money to buy a Python for the first time").

I'm going to go ahead and lock this one as OP is advocating cheating in face of valid game mechanics. You might not like it OP, but that's how the game is. As others have noted, there are other game modes available to you if you do not like the PvP aspect of the game. CGs are notorius for attracting all sorts of players in Open.
