Does that mean X3 only has one type of combat: single player? Same for Freelancer's single-player? Does this mean Doom is the same as COD, as they both have single-player and multiplayer combat? This makes no sense.
X3 had quite the Deep Combat actually.
There were several Different Ships. Which Played completely and entirely Differently
The Weapons were really Different in their Usage as well.
Moreover the Combat Scenarios as they Happened from actual Positions and from actual Stations etc etc. Could be widely Different.
From Ambushes hiding behind an Object to stay out of Sensors and thus get an Surprise Attack on someone. To actual Attacks and Raids on a System Aiming to Conquer it or to simply Destroy an Importand Structure.
The Difference is the Fight itself mate.
Combat for whatever Reason is completely the same.
The Question is if in that Combat you have something that makes Encounters Different.
Fighting in Groups is Different from Fighting Alone. (This is actually not Multiplayer Affected it can be done with NPCs as well)
Fighting in an Asteroid Belt or on a Planets Surface is Different from Fighting in Open Space.
Fighting with Weapons that can Bypass Shields or cause Heat Damage is Different than Fighting with Weapons that just cause Damage.
In Freelancer this comes out as well. You have Shield Breaking Weapons. You have Weapons that hinder Movement. You have Combat in Nebulae, in Minefields, in Asteroid Fields, Around Stations
Laugh at it. But in Freelancer you Fight in Ambushes and Raids as well as Attacks. You Defend or Attack certain Targets which is an Completely Different Combat Scenario because it means that Victory is Archieved by Destroying a Certain Unit or by Prohibiting the Destruction of a Certain Unit
In that area Freelancer is actually alot more exciting on providing you with different Combat Challenges.
Let me Ask you.
In ED.
Do you Fight Differently when you have Cargo?
In a RES does the Combat feel Differently than when Attacking Bounties near an Nav Point ?
The Reason for the Combat is slightly Different. And in case of RES the Surrounding is slightly Different. Albeit the Asteroid Rings are usually so Thin that most Combat happens outside anyways.
Combat under Gravity is actually the first Type of Different Combat we had. As it really provided a new Combat Challenge as you had to Pay attention to your 3D movement.
But in General. Among the 10 things he Listed. Are Fighting Differently for each of them ?
I dont. I Fight exactly the same Strategy and Tactics in all of these Encounters he Listed
Except that in a CZ due to being Hostile to a Large Group of Enemies at once. I pay some more Attention to how many Attackers are Targeting me.
