Closing the circle

That is just one crazy ride! Gazing into the abyss for 18 months must have taken its toll - did it stare back at you?

What did you find out there on the rim - anything to submit to the galactic mapping project? (apart from the route itself...)

I like the abyss, the number of stars round here is a bit disconcerting, to be honest ;)

I did submit a particularly bright O/B system on the North West fringe as a Beacon System - so obviously someone else promptly tagged every single body, I'll review things when I've sold the data see if anything else stands out as something that should be in the GMP.

Forgot to ask... how damaged are your modules? Any Hull damage?

Hull 78%, PP 79%. Everything else that matters 85% or more. A mixture of coming in hot to rings, scooping without due care and attention and failing to give L dwarfs a wide enough berth causing emergency stops and one over-heating when I came out between two stars but the one behind me was a brown dwarf so the heat went up quite slowly and it crept up on me until suddenly it was time to panic.

And a great meet-up!

Or, My Cobra is become the Galaxy Serpent

After 618,000 light years, 28,160 systems and nearly 18 months I've gone all the way round.

Going to hang around the general area for the weekend to do some ELW hunting with Chiggy in the fourth of our irregular series of meeting up every time I've been around a crossing between arms on this trip and then back to the bubble via checking out some of the sights in the Orion Spur that I've not visited yet.

Pictures from the trip to date, many already shared

Full trip stats to come in a few weeks (or so) when I make it back to the bubble and sell the data.

I've added it to the Pioneering Expedition Archive - let me know if the dates and commander name are correct :)

When I started playing Elite Dangerous and visiting these forums you were already on that epic journey. I have been reading words like "when I'm finished with my trip" for so long now that CMDR Cruento Mucrone and his neverending mission have become proverbial for me, a constant in the ED universe. It's hard to believe that it will be over soon. *sigh*

Wish you all the best for your return! Don't break my heart and get yourself blown to bits, ask for an escort!

I've just come back from a 20kLY journey and I've had my fill. You must be one incredibly patient and dedicated explorer. EPIC.

+1 Rep.

I wonder, how thoroughly did you scan each system you went through? All bodies? Just the apparently high value ones? Just the main star and the closest planet?

I scanned every main star. If that was tagged I also scanned another untagged body if there was one.

Plus all the ELWs (154), WWs (1590) and AWs (230). Most of the CFTs - my hit rate got a lot better for those after I snaffled Jackie's HabZone Calculator code and added it to ED Discovery - as well as Gas Giants that were close enough to scan without moving very far and anything else that caught my eye.

Occasionally I did every body in the system just because.

On careful examination of your ship's cockpit, I notice that you have developed a kind of shiny aura whilst you have been away.

Is this like that episode of Space 1999?

Congrats again, Cmdr. An awesome feat.

Cruento Mucrone. What an amazing trip.
My hat is off to you. That circumvention was both brave and inspiring.
For myself I found the outer areas nerve wracking and scary. so well done !
I'll be ending my trip soon @ ~ 548 days and a lot less than your amount of systems. (I have 70 days to go as of today) You'll beat me by ~ 7k systems. I'll be interested to see what you get credit wise.
Did you score a ringed ELW? or one as a moon?

Congrats on this epic trip.

Several ELW as moons - although only of terrestrial planets. None with rings :(

492m CR and counting... I'm expecting 500m or thereabouts so hopefully near the end. Oh for a 'Page x of y' caption on the UC screen.

Full 'by the numbers' update coming soon.

So funny, I have a few ELW's with rings but none as moons.

you should get a lot more than 500m for 28k systems, I figure mine at 750m for 21k systems (but I DDS scan a lot)

Belated grats on making it all the way around. Amazing achievement!

I still remember waving to you across the void while we were in adjacent arms as I climbed the Perseus arm. Way over a year ago!

That is one staggering achievement, iain666 - congratulations on the return. I can't imagine how you must feel at the moment. On an aside, I see on the route map a few lines of red. Traffic queues, I bet?
