I saw someone mention 5k as well.

with all these things though we will just have to wait and see what more info comes out over the next few days.

I ordered on the 19th of March at 9.10am I'd like to think I'll be in the 1st batch but again I'll just have to wait with everyone else.

How long before the 1st one hits ebay though.

.... with a four figure price tag, probably as soon as some people get their notification of shipping! Happens every time that something much sought after with limited initial availability is released. It's capitalism, after all!

I think he means this bit - "We expect to ship roughly 10,000 DK2s from the factory in July, with just over half of the units through distribution centers and on their way to doorsteps before the end of the month" - implying, perhaps that the other half is going straight to bona fide developers? Or maybe it just means that the other half are shipping via means outside the distribution centres. :S

I expect that units go out in shipping containers to the distribution centres, when they arrive there they get processed and shipped out. For some reason they can only process half of them this month, this would indicate that they will be receiving them in batches over the month and half will be received that late in the month that they won't be able to process them and get them out in July.

I'm not sure how many distribution centres they have but I do know they have one in the UK. Most likely it services Europe though so anyone in the UK is "competing" with Europe not just the UK.

Hopefully production will ramp up as if they are only able to produce 2,500 units per week then they'll take up to October/November to clear the 45,000 preorder backlog.

But I'd agree it's probably a centre for European distribution.

I read this as: 10k directly shipped from the factory and half of ALL the remaining orders going out through distribution centers by the end of July.

I couldn't order mine until June so I'm looking for anything.

Looks like they've been taking lessons on announcements from FD (miaow).

I truly hope you are correct and they ship 22,500 units by the end of July (as I should definitely get mine). I'd rather be pessimistic on this though and be surprised than hope for July and be disappointed.

Very Wise. My order went through at 11:15PM PDT on the 19th, so I'm hoping I'm in the first batch. But I only expect it end July / beginning August.

So, once people start getting them, any info on how it is being delivered would be very useful. What courier, what type of delivery. Thanks in advance.

UPS is the courier I believe.
You'll get an email when your order is processed and it'll take X days to arrive.
Probably give you a shipping number so you can track the order.
Give a spare key to a friend and get them to sign for it if it arrives while on holiday or change the deliver address to an address you know for sure someone will be there to collect.

It's hard to guess when it might arrive.
There's no way to work out what place in the queue you are, the shipping will be to certain distribution centres and you will be in a queue with everyone else who will get their order from the distribution centre (in our case, All of Europe). If they are only shipping 2.5K units per week globally then it could take quite a while till they get to your order. Hopefully production will ramp up and they'll be able to ship in bigger batches.

p.s. they received 12.5K orders in the first 36 hours, 25K orders in a month. 2 weeks after preorders went live will put you around the 17.5K to 20K mark I guess (assuming that orders tapered off after the initial rush). I ordered mine 6 days after so I'm only slightly ahead and I'm setting my expectations as the end of August.

I wonder if it really matters that much weather you ordered it earlier or later as long as you ordered it in a sertain period. With these large numbers they probably create separate batches for example the whole of Newyork will be a single batch
But im only guessing...

I think King5ton is spot on. They'll work through them in the order they got them. Couriers do the shipping and they'll just go where they're told. So no reason not to. Except for picking VIPs out of the list and people who have address/payment issues.
