Hehe. They do a bit. In the cockpit they look more 'nonchalant' than 'depressed' to me but it would help the screenies if they were a bit more demonstrative yes. That said, each face in the weekend spoiler is really quite distinctive. Really impressive actually that they are, given they're all tight lipped expression wise.

Thanks. Most of the time it's just a face that's made but sometimes it's personality. And that's what I like about the CC.

I want to create a few others but I don't want to lose that "Handsome Masterpiece" that I created of myself...
I think that some form of export to a local file when it goes live is required. Thus giving an 'unlimited' number of saves and the ability to transfer to other commanders.
I would be cautious about getting too attached to any Beta creation as we don't know if they can be transferred. There are also several small bugs in the creator and squashing them could mean that faces change, we see this the the NPC crew being different in Beta. Now is the time to play around, find bugs and report oddities, so that later you can get the best from it.
I decided that I couldn't wait and ponied up the cash so I could play with the commander creator. (Sad I know)
Anyway with that said, I created my alter ego and my permanent crewmate (read: voice attack ai profile I'm working on).
Meet CMDR Mattaka and Flight Lieutenant Heather Jameison.
I added my ugly mug in for comparison, I think I did quite well.
Heather is as I mentioned a voice attack ai using the cereproc Heather voice with EDDI integration. She's quite the personality. I based her face from her voice and all the time I've spent with her in game so far. Its nice to finally have a face to go with the voice

I think it is quite realistic....my wife has the self-same scar from a Cloward Procedure when she had her C2/C3 Vertebrae fused
The best time to ask people to show their commander is when we all have the update. Then you`ll have a better idea of what people have.
