For me any data from combat ships like Abnormal... is best aquired from RES sites. Any pirate ship can spawn it, no matter the size (lots of people said to me to scan big ships, but I got good data even from cobras and adders - it is all RNG after all)
Somehow for me combat zones never worked well.
BTW just got them in Encoded Emmisions USS in system that is in War state.

Need more clue and drew seems to be one man lore, is FD driving anything? Love the new update btw, such clear graphics and faster loads, can even see the planet map clearer.

Wish to get Achenar permit as have put all my goodies into new cg and not much to do before salome arrives. I have no rank with imperials as wanted to keep one faction as an enemy, so how long will it take to rank to squire to get the permit, and best method?

No, I did get one yesterday from scanning in a high CZ; it was from a Fed Corvette. But about 5 hours scanning for one drop is disappointingly slow. Then tried heading towards galatic centre from that system, got out to 10,000 ls & no drops in any of the USS I came across- degraded, encoded or high grade.

Think someone/Inara said scan high rank military/police ships, so tried the high CZ; same for the RES option?

I did a load of data delivery missions to get mine, anywhere in Imp space. You'll need to build to a good status so stay in a small area & just keep delivering between them to build the relationships. Think mine was achieved around Percunceni/CD-62 1454 etc

You believe it is in RES, you stick to RES, you get it eventually in RES, then you say it is mostly there. Another guy will fly 2000 ly from main star checking USS's, he will eventually get one there, then he will say it is mostly 2000 ly from the star
I am trying to get Adaptive encryptors capture necessary for DSS most of the day with no luck :/ I want to find High Grade emissions, and all day I got one when fuelscooping and it was too close to a star to get there :/

Confirmed. I also found my first AEC in a data point. I was in Quince doing same Planetary Surface Scan missions. One outpost had two public data points. The second one got me an AEC.
Still inbound to the Rift, nearly there. Good thing there are bases now. I can sell my data and won't be under the concern "maybe someone snipes my nice discoveries".
I now finally managed to identify this huge cluster you start to see about 6k out. Why have i not looked for it the first time? I clicked through the bright stuff in the map (really a huge area) and saw often multiple Black Holes reported in a single system. I think i'll take this as my route back next weekend. With the payout boost since 2.3 this should be worth it. [smile]

Attempt to retrace the Formidine Rift Beta/Gamma Expeditions. Day 9.

I spent most of the day travelling in economical mode along the centre of the ellipse where I think the Beta and Gamma Expeditions might have reached but later switched to fastest after this put me too often into a layer of brown dwarfs below the Galactic Plane. I did not encounter any Earth-likes for some time and was getting worried, skipping over scanning many habitable zone planets to devote my time to finding an Earth-like. I eventually hit the sparseness of the Rift from the other side and did some individual plotting amongst AFGK stars but although I encountered one Ammonia World (HYPIAE AESCS UH-U C16-0 A9, previously discovered) I at first had no luck with Earth-likes and began to edge my way closer to the Heisenberg Bridge. This was when I finally found my only Earth-like of the day: HYPIAE AESCS AX-E C11-1 A6 (previously discovered). This system also has a pristine metallic asteroid belt so, in addition to checking for beacons/*SS/night lights/orbital bombardment, I scanned and dropped into a belt cluster to check for heat signatures: nothing found in all respects. Tomorrow I will begin the journey home but I will keep a look out for Earth-like Worlds until I am past the Heart and Soul nebulae.

Near the Heisenberg Bridge for a few hundred LY most systems have first discovery tags but once past 1KLY there are almost none. It is amazing how thorough previous explorers have been in surveying this region and yet we still have not found 'it'. The lower half of my estimated ellipse from day 8 is in the untagged region, though, so perhaps on a future expedition something will show up there. I'm afraid that unless we have further clues, or work out how to find and recognise the existing clues, then heading into the Rift is like buying a lottery ticket without knowing the winning numbers - you might get lucky and arrive in (one of) the right systems but you would not know it.

Quite happy also with the new patch , except for the strange cartoonist style for stars when you arrive in a system.

I departed the station in Flaming Sector clean of data. Here is the result, after finding 5 or 6 (lost track there) Ammonia Worlds, 10 WWs and 2 ELWs. All untagged. I scanned a lot. Every Gas-Giant i came across and a lot of HMCs and small stuff. Just to see the effect.
32,5m in profit, and i made my Elite in Exploration(from 84% Pioneer, i think that is too much, might be a bug but i'll take it). So this patch is a nice thing for us Rifters. When you come back, you will get paid for all that work. Now for making a plan for the next week out here. Suggestions welcome. [smile]

Nothing new, yet. Although i could swear lights were following me in witch-space. Then i realised that might be because of the patch. the stuff in there now casts light on your ship. If i had not been in my Anaconda i would not even have seen this.
All USS i checked were normal stuff. Data, small and large. Let's see what shows up in the rift tomorrow. I hope they added new stuff here.
At least i have this freak moon on my list for my way back. Maybe there is really something there.

A group of EM-transmission technology enthusiasts in the Tionisla system claims to have found a message in the exploration data gathered last year as part of a campaign organised by the Children of Raxxla.
A spokesperson for the group, which calls itself The Hamsters, said:
“It was inside one of the beacon modulator wave harmonics, and it seems to be some sort of rhyme. We’ve studied it but have come up with nothing, so we thought we’d share it with the galactic community.”

I know a few of these but have to hit the Google for most of them.Below is what I have done so far just trying to break it down and work out each part individually -
