THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Let me try to clear up something for the final time.

!

I clicked REP about 30 times but I think it only gave a +1. For my part thank you Erimus (your original map is still imprinted in my brain) for what you and all the original founders did to keep the story alive. It's an unfortunate reality that being high profile illicits all the more annoying base instincts of humans but they're only human so one has to cut them some slack.

Find some way to sit back and enjoy the day. It's been roughly 2 years in the making.

And lastly, calling CoR a bunch of "control-freak PvPerz" is baffling.

Which is not what I did. I said there is an element of that within CoR who live and breathe the "being in charge" of a huge bunch of PvPers in a militaristic, hierarchical follow orders fashion. And you know exactly who I am referring to.

I heard there will be a -kill on sight- policy by Salomé's protectors. That's a bit of a poor tactic, but I understand it somehow.

So I hereby state that I won't interdict her and I won't cause harm to her. I want her to get her message out. So please recognize me (CMDR T!BER!US) as a friend of Kahina "Salomé" Loren (I also have her in my friends list btw).

But I sure as hell won't remove weapons or some bull like that. And sadly because of an appointment tonight I will probably come at a much later point anyway.

Btw. as my second vote on the target system I take Anlave.... simply because I have no better idea. :p

And like I once explained to you in a chat, you have no idea about some of the restrictions and pressures certain people within CoR had to work under. They were put in a tough situation and did the best job they could.

Guess some group call poc. watching a live stream and some guy interdicted one of them. They ran.

I went into a haz res last night for the first time since the last patch. My ship bugged out, said I was going 198 when I wasn't moving at all. Could still fire guns but otherwise just sat there going 198 and zero at the same time, while some pve killed me. I keeping asking myself, what if that happens to a bunch of people tonight? [haha]

I had a thought...

An "unarmed" Orca carrying civilians who wished to be a part of history, gets close enough - as it doesn't violate the PAC "rules" - and rams the VIP's to oblivion.

It is then revealed that among the passengers there were some crazies who flipped out and briefly seized control of the ship before they attempted to commit suicide and were subdued. One of them mumbled something about 'hexedit'?

Edit: If anyone is taking tourists out to 46 Eridani in an Orca, I'd love to ride shotgun, can't afford one myself :)

All I'm going to add at this point is that no amount of firefighting from ANYONE. CoR, Pac, Drew, indies, whoever, Will not and Can not put out a fire that has been allowed to burn itself out.

Like it or not, a lot of reputation has at least been dimmed by this event. It's going to be interesting to see the mess come tonight, and just how much retroactive firefighting continues to occur from ANYONE when the criticism really starts flying, because if you think your taking a lot of heat right now? Something tells me it'll be hotter later on.

Also with regards to your last point - why don't you enlighten people about the tough issues? It may actually bring some sympathetic understanding from others.

Well I'm online and in 46 Eridanini now , still fairly quiet at 2.45 pm BST - plan to stay here and see who and what drops in as the day progresses.

I don't think I am going to participate, but when I do, I will use my ship name to indicate that I am defending Salome despite carrying weapons.

I posted this elsewhere but this was the response to drew

@everyone crying to Drew because we said your ship will be killed for x, y, z reason isn't going to change anything. If you don't follow the plan we carefully crafted for safety and security purposes, your ship will be blown up. And it will be your own fault. If you want to help, be helpful. Don't be proud and stubborn. That being said, everyone is welcome to join, we're all adults so we can make our own decisions. Just know that you reap the rewards of your decision. If that means a 65 mil cutter rebuy cuz you couldn't swallow your pride, so be it.

That response actually came out yesterday before Drew's comments.

Edit: While above is technically true, thus far they have made no further announcements regarding their KOS policy.

Seems to be a decent amount signing up on the salome discord - so expecting heavy incoming.
Right now just chilling and catching some rays from the suns :)
Also seem to have the same ragtag crew here as last night - all "neutrals" far as I can tell.

I hold no authority over anyone - but, am going to suggest non aligned forces might be best advised to keep to the area near stars b and c (practical if nothing else)

As much fun as I hope everyone has, I will say this is kind of reminding me why I play the Pre-Rebel Han Solo lifestyle rather than General Solo of the Rebellion ;)

And lastly, calling CoR a bunch of "control-freak PvPerz" is baffling. CoR do not, and have not, taken part in PvP throughout the entire story. One of the reasons people join CoR is precisely because its not interested in PvP. Hell they rarely PvE unless its part of a story related event. This End Game event is something they were invited to take part in - and they knew from day one it was completely alien to the ethos of CoR... CoR PvPing? Give me a break!. But not a single member shirked from it. Explorers and roleplayers to a man stepped up, learned to engineer their ships for combat, and began practicing a play style they had nothing to do with for the entirety they've been part of this story.

They're not stupid. They know 5 weeks of PvP practice won't last 10 minutes against 2-year PvP vets. CoR know they're likely to be wiped out in the first 10 minutes. They know this is likely to be the end of their part in the story (rejoice naysayers), but they're stepping up and taking it on because they were invited to - and its a bloody good ending to what I'm sure will be a fantastic story. Everyone in CoR recognizes that if Salome dies but one of the other protagonists makes it out and gets her message transmitted, it'll all have been worth it.

So a bunch of peaceful explorers turn into a cult of personality and at said personalities request, willingly throw away their peaceful ideals and their lives?

I think that, rather than some talk about 'roleplayed narratives', is what divides CoR from the Rifters.

Not a criticism, just an observation, makes for an interesting story at any rate.

I saw this. Roughly translated as "I'm in charge and it's your fault if you won't follow my orders".

And another dictator is born.

*le sigh

More than ever, I wish I could join this event now... If nothing else, than to waste their resources on chasing my harmless (but incredibly evasive) self around, tying up valuable resources that should be used against actual threats....

Z...
