Just flew out to 46 Eridani, looked up the discord thing and...discovered the "friendlies" are going to kill anyone they see with guns that isn't on their "allowed to have guns" list. Really? This places COR somewhat beneath the level of SDC, who at least won't be butchering their allies.
We're supposed to go interfere with SDC and professional killers in unarmed iEagles and iCouriers. I'm not even kidding. Those that proposed and endorsed this transparent recipe for a massacre are traitors to the COR rank and file and must be brought to justice.
When I signed up for COR I don't remember anything about "cannon fodder" in the agreement. I don't recall any fine print requiring me to let them tell me how to fly my ship.
At the end of the day Salome is just one person, how many of our lives is hers worth? She's got plenty of blood on her hands already but it seems that once a politician always a politician.

My final word. I am not moaning about players who did something "when there was nothing stopping [me] from doing likewise". Your statement is incorrect in at least two ways. First, my complaint has been groups trying to enforce their rules and way of playing on others, and no role whatsover for independent pilots who don't want to wing up or be in any such group, undermining the entire original ethos of the game. Not just on this event but it has certainly highlighted that.
Second, lots of things stop me from setting up yet another players group and server, as you well know. The main one is Real Life(tm) and time. So claiming that anyone can go and do what you folks have done (on the spur of the moment yet where you and others have had months and years to organise) is rather laughable to be honest. All this event does is show that again there is little effort or thought put into content creation for casual players by FD, and particularly casual players that aren't into multiplayer and PvP and want to play/fly independently.

I mean... out there the rules may work. Inside the bubble you may encounter hundreds of players who have no idea what's going on.
Requiring those to have no weapons/interdictor equipped to not be a target. Otherwise it's their own fault... this is the worst plan I've ever read. My bet is it will be chaos inside the bubble.
I've just come off the briefing and question session on the Allied discord and there is a bit more info that may help people, regardless of if (like me) they don't like the no guns stuff, or you are dancing to their tune.
Firstly I will say the chap running the show, Jubei Himure, is considerably more agreeable in voice than in text. Eg he talked at length about there rules of engagement and why they are imposing them. I still don't agree with them, but I do understand them from there point of view. He also said he is well aware that this is causing a lot of upset with people, and he does not like, but it is the safest why for them to achieve there objective, which ostensibly is the same as most of us rifters. However there does seem to be an amendment that help people like me, who want to help Salome etc, but do not want to be following other peoples orders or rules:
Ships with weapons that are not on their white list, will be fine, if they move outside of 1000Ls of a system's primary star, where action is taking place. If you stay within 1000Ls, you will be interdicted/attacked. If you are on that discord, you may then be called into help in fighting. Also, ideally you will be challenged and asked to move 1000Ls+ away first.
Of course given there are over 3000 people now on that discord I expect these 'rules' to be pretty sloppily enforced so I would advise others people, with guns, on Salomes side, to still expect to be considered an enemy by that force. However this does open up a little more opportunity as opposed to a blanket KOS.

"Go play somewhere else" (like 1000ls away) .... you may not even see the ships at the primary star on your sensors there. And sitting there watching is as funny as watching paint dry.
Lots of innocents will die tonight, as well as lots of friendly fire. My bet is the factions involved will be marked as terrorists by all major factions by tomorrow. Because that is basically what this plan is.

Well, there's always the tactic of charging the disco scanner before jettisoning, but the shutdown doesn't seem to last as long as I thought I remember it doing in the past. It could just be poor memory as I hadn't done it in a while.
I do hope the event will yield something tangible.
