FD & PS4 players, you should be aware that attempts are being made to sabotage launch.

I've dealt with an SDC fool before. They will interdict you and attempt to engage in chat. They want to get a reaction. That's their Achilles heel. Don't engage in conversation with them. Don't get upset. Just disconnect, and carry on.

I say, call in the Fuel Rats, call in the 5th Fleet, the Children of Raxxla, everyone who isn't part of this silly gambit for attention, and have them play the starter systems in a way that will prevent a lockdown. Problem solved!

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

Morgan Grimes!!! Awesome :D

If I could rep you twice in a row I would. Unfortunately you'll have to wait. :D

If true, that's pretty sad that people would stoop to that level.

Best way to deal with this is just think of it as our first community goal.We have a minority of whiney brats trying to sabotage other people's fun because they aren't getting their way. Any damage they do in BGS we can counteract if we have people getting ganked in the starter system team up and protect them. I've already got my head-canon for my commander. Show the toxic people you won't put up with them. We don't have to be nasty about it and camp them. We just have to fight back.

If you come across players who are doing this, take names.then simply come back to find them like sand people...in greater numbers:D

Their leader publicly posted a list of PC SDC members here: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDange...s_sdc_personnel_list/?st=j4cdmi9q&sh=6319ab41 (I don't believe this is naming and shaming), and would not be surprised to see similar-ish names for their PS4 accounts.

If you see one, just block them, and re-instance (no confirmation on blocking effecting currently instanced players).

As for their plans to disrupt the starter systems, TBH i'd be surprised if they didn't try. There's only 30 of them, but they love the publicity.
Note: i'd also not be surprised to find them trying to infiltrate private groups we're talking about. ie: the PS4 founders; Misfits of Science etc

However a stock Sidewinder has 7.56Ly range, meaning there's 30 stations/outposts to lockdown within LHS3347, and 12 within range of Asellus Primus, possible maybe, but a serious amount of work.
Once you fit a 2A FSD (136K cr) you get 16 Ly jump range, and they aren't locking down all those systems.

So fly Open and be prepared to rebuy + block; or fly solo/PG; and/or start jumping away from the starter locations.

Lastly i'd say if you do get blown up, don't make a whining thread (they love those), just make a brief calm note of current activity to warn other CMDRs, and do not respond to other commanders calling you names (carebear, git gud scrub, etc) and they'll get bored after a few days/weeks and move back to PC (only popping back to PS4 for CGs etc).

I think I'll just try to bore the gankers to death... You want a piece of my free sidewinder? Sure, no problem.... Oops did I just ram you... Sorry about that, still learning to fly...

I hope if this occurs FD react strongly and bans all those involved from the game for attempting to damage the launch. This is a bannable offence under the EULA and I hope they fully enforce it.

No idea how true it is and some of it obviously will not work (seal clubbing) but somebody probably needs to keep an eye on this.

Meh I am not worried, not enough of them and too short a time to make any significant impact to BGS or to new PS4 players. The likelyhood of meeting those gibbons will be minimal at best.

Now is the time to get really giddy CMDR's, time is almost up! o7

^^ this exactly. Don't feed the trolls. Fear is the mind killer. Play. Have fun. Don't worry. Be happy. Nuff sed :)

They have plenty of time, they can happily UA bomb stations from the PC game to effect the BGS. Nothing to do with fear either; I just feel if a intentional attempt is made to damage the launch and the game then it crosses a line from protest to disruption, intentional damage of the brand and should be acted on accordingly.

I pretty much guarantee that FDEV will make sure the starter systems are ok before launch. They have the power to reset any station during the daily update. If anyone UA bombs LHS3447 into lockdown it won't last. Have faith CMDR, the gods are on our side :)

Hopefully there won't be any major problems, I'll be going Open from the start unless it's so bad you can't get anywhere, there'll always be some griefers whether they're organised or not.
I don't think losing the Sidewinder is a big issue, I think you get a load of "loan" credits towards buying it back over and over?

Guess we'll see how things turn out once we get into the Black, good luck Commanders! o7

Mind explaining Engineer Day? I know it was when FD found and fixed a bug from the Engineers that made players have game breaking ships but was there more to it?

It's not the ships that were game breaking - it is entirely possible to get similar (or even better) rolls legitimately. It's how they got them that was the problem. Essentially it went something along the lines of aborting a grade 1 roll, glitching the menu, then starting a grade 5 roll. Rather than use extremely rare grade 5 engineers mats for the roll they managed to force the game to use the common grade 1 mats instead. This meant that they could happily roll all day until they got the highest rated grade 5 roll they could possibly get & keep it.

Rinse & repeat for all possible modules & they successfully cheated their way to a god rolled ship, or 2, or 4, 10 etc.

Of course this sparked off an arms race between groups whom felt "forced" to do the same to keep up with their god rolled opponents because "everyone else was doing it" (rather than report the offending CMDRS). it spread to the wider public where serial gankers, griefers all did the same as did some members of the public at large that "did it out of curiosity" (honestly guv), or felt it affected nobody because "they play in solo" (conveniently forgetting that every action they do on the shared BGS affects it for all players).

FD took all their ill gotten gains away - and all legitimately rolled ones in the same category as while they could see the exploit was used, they couldn't directly tell which exact ones were legitimate or exploited. Players who cheated their way to greatness woke up one morning & discovered that all they had was lost, even those who just upgraded "6/7 modules out of curiosity" and "played in solo" (honest guv) and even then "only a little bit". Even those who "rolled but didn't accept the result" (honestly guv) found their engineered modules had been taken away...

Oh they monked, they moaned they went to reddit and wailed (knowing that sympathy was sorely lacking on the official forums) "it's not fair!" they cried "I cheated my way fair & square to get those things". Those that did it "just out of curiosity" or "just a little bit" (honestly guv) felt aggrieved because they were punished the same as the bigger cheaters and lost all their modules too. The big cheaters felt aggrieved because they just lost their advantage and have to build it back up (aww).

So now some of the more childish ones have decided that they shall attempt to spoil some things because they were punished too harshly well aren't they just precious.

Oh, & if they do manage to lock the starters & nearby systems they are also gonna struggle to get out of their sidy...

I doubt FD will jump in, as by doing so they would be tampering with the BGS. After all, the SDC members can claim to be roleplaying,or even openly stating that they are playing with the politics of the game for their own interests; perfectly allowable, I think?

Of course, this could be a major pain for new CMDR's; but let's face it - you've just got to get the heck away from the stating location. When I first started playing on a Mac (I know, that's why I'm starting over on PS4), I looked at all the CMDR's and NPC's and went "Woa! get me out of here". So, not much different than what we will experience on the PS4 release, I'm sure.

If the stations are on lock-down you will not be able to get a mission or upgrade your ship in anyway. So, just fly. I have yet to look at the map and figure where you can get to on the basic sidey with a tank of fuel.....

Sabotage on PS4 worries you? Lol, just wait to see the casual PSN player base from WoT and other modern "AAA" brainwashing junk there ...

Well, it almost seems you're directing some of that at me without naming me. Charming. Regardless.

How's about you take your holier than thou attitude back into the cesspit of Dangerous Discussion? The 'curious commander' issue has been discussed and dealt with. All modules were not lost for them. Your over-exaggerated ideas of the BGS has been questioned and found wanting. To some people it's a black and white issue and doing it a couple of times in a game equates to someone doing it for over a year specifically to impose military might. To anyone with a brain, I would argue without making any excuses for anyone's behaviour, it's not. You just can't lump those two categories together even if gives a lovely feeling of superiority. One lot wants the game to burn. The other is Mostly Harmless and did what most players in games do to some extent - exploited existing mechanics. I've asked for my modules to be restored and a shadow ban imposed and that is being considered. If it's not implemented, no tears from me.

I've moved on. Shame you can't. Also, the childish ones you speak of? You could set an example by not being so childish yourself. Put your pitchfork away. It doesn't belong here.

Losing the starter Sidey is no issue at all. You'll get a free replacement as often as you like.
