Private Party Launch Day Group

I've been debating back and forth whether or not to start in Solo mode. I don't want to be stuck in a "traffic jam" of new players at launch, many who are probably 12 year olds looking for target practice. The problem with Solo is I'd miss seeing all my forum buddies out in the black this week.

So, anyone want to start a private group for launch day? I don't know the mechanics of starting a group or inviting people or anything like that. I'm not talking a player group, I'm talking the 2nd option in "Open, Group, Solo" play. I would personally join this group for the first week or so, until I get my duck feet wet, then I'll switch to open.

I suppose we could all agree to start in the Mobius group if you prefer. Or perhaps I'm the only one who is a bit timid about playing in Open on day one (especially with threats of "seal bashing").... What do you think? If it's a dumb idea, feel free to roast the duck ;)

--- UPDATE ---
I did start this by saying, "I'm debating [back and forth]." I'm modifying my idea / suggestion to this: if you're thinking about starting out in Solo, consider starting out in the Mobius private group instead. This PVE group should protect us from griefing and "traffic jams" while allowing us to potentially meet at least some of the others in the forum.

--- UPDATE #2 ---
There are some doubts whether Mobius will be ready for launch day, or if anyone reading this can apply and get accepted in time if it is...

--- UPDATE #3 ---
CMDR Labrunning is forming a group for launch day, which "answers the call" of the OP above. Go check it out if you're interested in a Private Party Launch Day Group!

--- UPDATE #4 ---
After much consideration and discussion (see ensuing thread), I've decided that I'll be playing in Open from the start. Solo will be my "last resort" if I can't get out of the starting system, and if griefing does become an issue on PS4 ED, I'll use the Mobius private group for CGs and POIs.

We could create a PVE group, a bit like Mobius, exclusive to forum users.
That way, we would play in a safe enviroment (Not sure about that... I don't trust Billl... [haha];)). But the downside is that, like you mentioned before in some other thread, we would be a relatively small ecosystem of players in a vast galaxy, almost as a grain of sand on an entire beach.

But i agree with you. Your idea makes sense.
Let's see what the rest of our community thinks.

I agree with your sentiments, and in a way, would be interested myself, but I don't know if I want to tag along in a group as I have my own credit agenda that I look to carry out so I can get a decent ship fast. I wouldn't want to feel like I'm ditching anyone to do my own thing?

unless.............you have a joint credit plan the we can prosper as a group, I don't want seal clubbed either which makes it even more important to make credits fast

I'll be starting in Open mode. To be honest, the amount of griefing I've seen in the two years I've played has been minimal, as instancing usually gets in the way of anyone trying it, even groups of players trying blockade in open fail in their cause because of this. That's not to say I've never had this problem, I've lost a couple of ships before now to the shoot-to-annoy brigade, but I've also lost far more ships to my own idiocy so I have to admit that the seal clubbing 'threat' is not one I'm too worried about :)

I'm thinking of a quick and easy "disposable" group just for launch day / week. There's no need to make a second Mobius. Nor does the group have to be "safe". If a forum regular wants to shoot at me, I'm cool with that. Now if you ALL start shooting at me (lots of roasted duck memes around here lately), then I'm definitely going to Solo, LOL.

You can still have your own agenda in a private group. It doesn't mean you have to do the same activities as the rest of the group. You might be mixing it with a "Player group".
Think of "Private Groups" as a private server, where only nice people plays.... No griefers whatsoever, etc. Almost as a friends group.

I was thinking about going solo for the first week or so, to be honest.
Like you, i don't want to be "seal clubbed" and it would be nice to practice my skills... Playing this game for the first time with an Hotas... Oh boy! [haha]

Again, I'm not suggesting a player group with any agenda. It's confusing, I know, it took me a long time to sort it out, but a private group is different. It basically limits who you can encounter online, that's it. We can all go our separate ways on day one, each doing whatever they want. Once you're out away from the start system, feel free to switch to open.

You disappoint me,Duck. Going with the Empire instead of the Alliance. You're in my sights now [hotas]

sorry for my lack of understanding, yes this sounds good then

Play open, there's instancing things anyway so it shouldn't be too crowded and if there are people, look at making friends and don't worry too much about progress the first day or two.

as astropalma explained to me, as with yourself, then this sounds like a great idea. id be up for this. don't get me wrong id love to hang around with the forum peeps in space at various times, co-op missions, CG goals etc but I also love being on my own, but, a kind of private server with like minded individuals.....................SOUNDS GREAT

how and when will you set this up duck? I know your in USA I'm in UK so whats the time difference and what time will you be on? id gladly take part in this

If Acid and the fellow M.S.R wings will be joining you in that room I would like to tag along, but if people are planning a group griefing incident I think we all should take the fight to them and blast them back to wherever they came from.

I Agree about you taking the fight to them, but, there is a lot of people, including me who will be playing for the first time, so I'm not to sure we be any good in relation to an expierenced group hell bent on destruction, I know safety in numbers an all that but at the same time........
