What the heck is wrong with all the whiners on here?

I try to avoid whining about things. (I'm not 5 anymore!)

If I have a problem with something, I'll either suggest a solution to it, or deal with it.

My only real big consistent complaint about ED is how "soft" the galaxy is. And I more or less blame the whiners for this. Endless moaning about the game being too hard, or too inconvenient, have lead us to a point where danger is 100% avoidable, and if choosing not to avoid danger, the "danger" you meet is so weak, it's actually more annoying. Lol
I ran out of things that challenge me a long time ago. And I haven't lost aship in PvE Combat in over a year. I stopped engineering my ships shields and weapons because the game is too easy already.

I'm really looking forward to the Thargoids. And I hope FD don't make them all soft too. I expect many many deaths when they turn up. If I don't die, FD failed. Lol

Whilst I agree with you I have to say that there are times when I really appreciate the 'soft' galaxy. If I'd had a really bad day the the 'soft' galaxy is just what I want.

Fortunately, bad days don't happen that often.

Massacre missions aren't spawning in any of the systems with a civil war going for me. But passenger missions are unbalanced as hell, so I am doing them ( serious, 2mil transport jobs to go one jump) and they also count towards my Trade and Superpower rank.
None of that really addresses the fact that there isn't anything different to do though. It's mostly just the same stuff with bigger numbers attached.

They still pop up they seem rarer but with much bigger payouts, 20 million is not unusual for one. You need to be allied to get it though.

I agree with you, I don't want some hardcore nightmare of a galaxy either.
I've been asking for places for each group to go. Basically make the security rating of a system matter. Alot.
Anarchy should be incredibly dangerous, and high security should be incredibly safe.
Map filters can now be used to avoid these areas.

Basically, this should be suicide;

My Python has just 320mj of shields and no weapons, and was carrying 180t of rare goods.
But instead I was completely ignored. Lol

The art and sound teams rightly get the plaudits the deserve.
The gameplay and design side also get the feedback they deserve.

To pretend that the community are driving the story is the real joke.

This QFT, you think this is player driven narrative?? HAHAHAHAHA

Only because I wasn't there. My Viper and I would have made our demands for 8 tonnes of cargo!

I think we should have a whine category in the forum, where anything whiny is put.

That way, people who feel the need to whine incessantly have a place to call home and the rest of us don't have to negotiate the crud to find something worth reading or discussing.

Ah, whining about whining. Shall we have a subforum for that too?

I mean, I'm away on an oil rig just now, and I foolishly decided not to pack my hotas and Oculus Rift this trip, then boom the elite comms channels light up with news of the alien bases not least the live one. Yet as I watch the videos and read the forums I am astounded by the salty vitriolic snidey remarks I come across dissing the content. I'm left astounded by the immensely inappropriate negativity of it all. Seriously what is wrong with you people?

I'm not able to fully immerse myself in it yet as I wont see my wife, kids, hotas and VR for another few weeks, yet even viewing it on the 17" 4k screen of my gaming laptop in HD via youtube I am simply stunned by what was found. My mind was blown in hd youtube small screen, 2.1x SS Oculus rift - oooohyah!

So given my evident appreciation for the teaser content, you'll understand my dismay at the lame dissing its getting. Lest y'all forget this wasn't even announced as coming, or alluded to, and there was a general sense that the E3 stream / fragged Farragut / robotic phonetic "Thargoids Return" beacon was all we'd see until 2.4 dropped. Heck even at the lavecon conference they kept this stuff up their sleeves. So here we are with a bonus content addition and yet Fdev are still taking grief?

Frontier I salute you, those sites look stunning and I cannot wait to fully immerse myself in them, please ignore the naysayers, today's Revelations really pulled a rabbit out of the hat. o7

They come out to the forums and start threads posting drivel and passive aggressive criticisms of a portion of the community in the hopes of distancing ones self from said community.

Nobody is mad at FDEV for what they have provided the community. People are mad about the state of the community as a whole and the consistent ducking of fixing the issue.

Finally after 2.5 years they are going to try and make this game believable. The first tiniest step is the introduction of the Pilots Fed Bounties and ships tied to the crime.

We have idiots right this very moment blowing up parked ships at the Alien crash sites and for what purpose I might ask? These people take possibly the greatest thing that has happened in this games story to this moment and are ruining the experience. They are taking you out of your game and are making you play theirs. Collaboration outside of Private groups and the forums is nigh impossible because they have allowed these people to play.

Most other games up to and including the newest PVP game PUBG have banned accounts entirely for the actions that FDEV have allowed to go on for the last 2 years.

The salt that is being thrown by this community is very very justified and correct but dont think that we dont appreciate the game. We do. We just dont agree with how and when things were and are being addressed. Too much focus spent on the wrong things and whatnot. They are all valid concerns of a very invested and passionate community.

Well, if I go to the crash sites I'll blow up parked ships too and disrupt any other human activity I find near the Thargoids. Space Fauna is precious and needs to be protected. All the ogling going on at those sites is an environmental catastrophe waiting to happen. It's not a national park, it's a pristine wildlife reserve and I for one applaud the efforts of the brave commanders trying to keep it as such.

You saw the video. You didn't experience the frustration of flying 7 or more hours flying throttled down in supercruise doing LITERALLY NOTHING but watching for a USS to appear so you can get one of the keys necessary to experience what is basically a cool cutscene. It's the typical FDEV thing - "content" that is really cool in concept, but so frustratingly poorly executed that it makes some people stop playing the game.

What are you talking about mate, narrative and story are between the best things fdevs are better at.
If you don't enjoy grinding, then don't.
If you don't like the game play something else.
The grind doesn't exist, you have to play the game my way, the right way, that is randomly do stuff aimlessly and with no goal in mind until stuff happens to you.

Please don't tell me how to enjoy the game. I understand that there is no grind if you choose not to partake in it. But if you do want to see the inside of the Thargoid base, you need to acquire an Unknown Probe. The only way I know of to get an unknown probe is to wait at certain locations until the USS pops up, and that can take hours or days.

I'm well aware that there are other things I could do in Elite. But this particular this is so heavily RNG as to be past the level of absurd IMO. I *COULD* stick my head in the sand, pretend there isn't a problem there and go do one of the many other things there are to do in the game - or I could point out the flaw and hope they fix it. My real issue though is that I don't think they will fix it. They seem to be going in the direction of more grindy new features, not less.

Get someone to drop you one when they are finished with it. Zero grind or RNG involved.

Aww mate, you're talking to one of the black sheep of this forum, resident in the blocked user list of half the people in here and sniped + banned from the reddit, all these achievements simply for speaking up and telling uncomfortable truths at uncomfortable times ;)

I should have written a big /s at the end of my post, my bad.

Odd, I've spent thae last few days solving audio encrypted messages, seeking out new alien sites, and having more fun than I think I have done over the last 12 months.

In this particular case, if you can't be bothered to put the effort in, you really won't get any enjoyment out of it. The story is still unfolding, the pieces are not all in place and there is much to be done. And there is no shooting involved. Except at something hanging from tendrils. But that's always allowed :D

And yet for days one of the top posts on reddit was a meme about searching for UPs. It almost as if layered rng based gameplay can have wildly divergent results from player to player.
