at the time when the investigation took place, there was a gaussian distribution of spawn probability either in distance to planet (with maximum at Dist= OC + 0.0025x(SOI-OC) ) and cruise speed (around 220 Km/sec). Details see here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/285900-Pleiades-Survey-Project /page2?highlight=pleiades+project+survey (spread over several pages). This led to the UP Hunters Manual https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...8-The-Canonn?p=4478415&viewfull=1#post4478415.
Recent observations (by several Cdrs., incl. me doing some 16h of circling all known UP Planets) point to two things
1. overall spawn rate (all type of USS) has dropped from 8-11 spawns/hour in former optimum distance to around 4 spawns/h
2. different to than (you had to leave the system) nowadays leaving the SOI and reentry seems to reset the RNG
add to that:
seems that since introduction of sensor mods by engineers THE EQUIPMENT MATTERS!
Prior to that the equipment type Sensors Type a-E didn´t have an influence on spawn probability (see also Cdr Ilo / Valea spawn research).
The test runs i did the last two days I did with my Orca (Sensors 4D, lightweight grade 5, Scan angle +/- 24,7°) where I got an average of 4,4 spawns/h.
Today in my ASP-X, Sensors 5A, wide angle 5 +/- 78,4° I am back on 12,2 spawns/h.... !!!!
So if You are searching for UP have a look to Your equipment first...
I saved only the last one:Do you have the binary data you got from those audio files?

I have an important observation to make.
So, when we first discovered that the UAs used morse code, the generalized thought was that it was a game decission. After all, if FD had used a trully alien code, we could have been years trying to decode just the UA.
However, do you remember what Braben said in last E3? That he wanted the aliens to be "trully alien"?
Well, this leads me to think that the morse code used by the aliens is not a game design decission, but an story driven choice
This has a direct implication: Somehow, the aliens had interacted with the humans before. Maybe in the war, maybe somehow else, but they got our morse code and used it in the devices we have found.
What does that mean? It means that we have not been uncovering the alien secrets, but rather we have been following the clues they left for us. And this actually seems to correlate with every time an alien ship appeared. Its like it is indicating us that we are in the right way, first with our presence in the Pleiades, and then "scanning" the commanders and the alien motherships.
So, it looks like the aliens are guiding us... somewhere.
But why leaving so complex clues? Isn't there an easier way?
A very interesting observation made by cmdr Maya Fey is that it doesn't actually make sense. It is such a subtle message that looks like it was meant for the humans to find it.
What if there are humans involved?
Maybe there are humans involved in all this, using the alien ships to try to communicate with us. Maybe the thargoids and the humans became, somehow, "cultural hybrids". Maybe... there are a reign of possibilities here.
But just have something very clear in mind: Most likely we are not unfolding the alien secrets. Most likely, we are just following the clues they left us for some reason.
Whatever is at the end of the rabbit hole... is still a mistery. But be prepared, for those aliens have known about us for way longer than we do realize.
It is still possible that they are testing the space monkeys who unleashed a terrible disease upon them when they came calling expecting tea, cake and polite conversation:
1) If we are sufficiently intelligent they may try to converse with us again
2) if not perhaps we'll fry, or more likely they'll just leave us to the Klaxian horde that is looming
But they may realise that we could be potential allies against their Klaxian foe, assuming that the two Tharg factions is still canon (think we've been told thtabthe first war was against the "friendly" Oresrians), and want to demonstrate to us that they can be friendly if we are.
Ok I'll tell you why.
They're using morse only because IT'S A TRAP!
They WANT us to find UA UPs and family, they want us to visit the ships, they want us to do things with their toys, because IT'LL BE US TO LET THEM IN. Troyan hoses. Meanwhile they are watching, scanning us, not attacking us.
They knew very well Federal Blink Code, and they are using it against us, but using their Alienish declination of it.
That's why IT'S DELIBERATE.![]()
It looks increasingly likely that it was we humans that did the wrecking, using the Mycoid virus - in which case, if the Goids are returning, we're in for a world of pain![]()
This is a very important point which I've posted several times. Wars are fought over resource conflict-water, land, etc; they are so different from us that there should be no conflict over resources and hence no need for war.Especially since you are fundamentally complementary... They like ammonia we like oxygen not like we are fighting over the same thing.
I was thinking the green are active sites or thargoid bases and the blue....who knows? Guardian sites maybe?
Hmm dunno about that, we see lots of green damage on these sites but we also see this on damaged human ships, so unless we are killing our own (a possibility i know) then there is a third player in these events.
Quick and Dirty 3d Map provided by Canonn R&D team for Unknown Wrecks https://map.canonn.technology/us/ will be updated as more sites are found.

Ah! I had a shower thought about that the other day.
What if the Goids have developed their own variant/equivalent of the Mycoid virus, which affects human ship hulls?
After all, we humans have shown them how such a thing could be weaponized against them.

Well the simple question to that is do we have any Bio tech in our ships? if not then its not a virus.Ah! I had a shower thought about that the other day.

I've been reading the thread (from the shadowy lurk mode of being a guest) for the last two days, wondering at my incredibly bad timing to be away from my PC this week..
Anytime you need something to do in-game I'll just book another holiday.... you're welcome![]()
++++REP for that thought - as it makes perfect sense to the whole setup !
1. at INRA times Merope 5C was the Tharg center of activities, hence its to be assumed the mycoid virus was deployed there.
2. Mycoid Virus starts spreading out from there, hence with increasing distance density of distribution decreases, leaving in distance of UA shell some remnants (large wreck sites)
3. Thargs establishing a quarantine zone (UA shell) with UA as detectors/EW-system if something infected tries to leave the area and UP monitoring Ammonia-worlds (possible breeding grounds for Mycoid Virus) for changes in atmosphere -> indication for biological activity which might result in a space-faring species that puts a risk of re-spreading the virus?
edit: 4. that also explains why the distance between COL 70 and Merope is used as a "normal" - could be the distance between their local central-hub and their biggest thread - the mycoid....
edit2: logical further approach by humanity should be:
- develope an antidote for the mycoid virus (CG) to offer to the Thargs when finally encounters take place (diplomacy of good-will)
- develope Mycoid-Virus V2.0 in case option 1 fails![]()
Maybe I'm missing something, but if these are all wreck sites, Then just WHAT is doing the wrecking? Shouldn't that be the worrisome thing? Especially as SJA has been chucklegloating over her accomplishments in 2.4? If this was done to themselves, then the question becomes: Who wants to insert themselves into a domestic violence squabble of this scale?

Might be Oresrian versus Klaxian territories
