Hillary Depot!

I just arrived at Hillary Depot, after 2,000 light years of travel (I'm the twit who decided to make a run for it... from Sothis). This is only the first step in a very long journey, but wow, it felt great to touch down on the landing pad and realize that I made that step, finally!

Now, when I did this, I decided to store away my Asp. So along the way, I made a stop at a station and bought the Diamondback Explorer, and outfitted it with my A grade stuff, and off I went! I get around 31-33 light years per jump, which isn't bad (IMO), and after dozens and dozens and dozens of jumps (I bookmarked every so often, like a trail of breadcrumbs), I arrived at the system and after a bit of searching, found the Depot. I'm currently berthed there, and will probably take a day to rest before deciding to press onward. That said, it's so exciting!

Oh, and something really neat? I discovered several stellar bodies! I didn't think that was ever going to happen, so I just think this is so awesome that in some small way I'm now part of the game, part of the lore. Oh, I love you Elite. ♥

Onward and Upward (and Downward... and side to side. We work in 3 dimensions)!

Congratulations!

Now, the question is - will you continue towards the Core, or do you turn around and use your wealth and reputation to get an invitation to Felicity Farseer and Elvira Martuuk and let them work on your ship?

Oh, definitely onward toward the core. I got an invitation from Felicity and Elvira way back, and while I visited Elvira, it just wasn't worth the trouble at the time.

Oh, and while I'm thinking about it, there was one point where I was about 200 light years out from Hillary Depot, and I stopped the ship to refuel. Well, I get done, and I supercruise away a couple thousand light seconds, stop, and then shut almost everything down (bathroom break). When I came back a few minutes later, I decide to just listen for a minute. With only life support and sensors running, I can hear nothing but the sound of silence. Then, for some reason, I start hearing clicking. This really light, but fast and repetitive clicking. I swear, it was enough to raise the hairs on the back of my neck. Could have been anything, but I was hundreds of light years from anywhere, and the feeling was so eerie. I loved it. :D

Congrats! It sounds like you're having a great start to this journey! That's what it's really all about. Getting out there, seeing the sights, and enjoying the experience. And the sound design is amazing. I love all of the little ambient sounds in the ship too.

I just recently got back from the core, and am visiting all of the engineers for some tune-ups, and then I'll probably head back out somewhere (no idea where yet, and that's great!).

I can only add to what others have said before me, but I'll do it anyway! Great post, and I like the enthusiasm. I hope you'll make more posts in the future.

Thank you all for the well wishes! This indeed very exciting!

It seems I made it somewhere else. :D

There was an incident while jumping through the Droju system that scared the *yay* out of me. All I know is one second I'm in hyper jump, next thing I know I get dragged out of it, see a brilliant flash of light, and suddenly I'm sitting in the middle of empty space. I have no idea what happened, so I just sat there a moment, but nothing was around, so I reset my destination and off I went. Scared me, I jumped out of my chair. lol

Interested in posting which Droju system it was (wait until you've sold the data), I'd love to go check it out!

I'll go back through my logs and see if I have it. I already sold the data, but I'm pretty sure I wrote it down in my notebook in all caps: AVOID. lol
I'll let you know if I find it.

On another note, I am loving the Diamondback Explorer. My Asp is a great ship, but the Diamondback is a no-frills exploration vessel, and it does the job superbly.

I finally made it to Eagle's Landing. My next stop is Gigarin Gate, some 5,000 LY away. That's going to be a rough trip, but I look forward to it.

Anyhoo, proof I arrived at Eagle's Landing:

Also, I'm sorry phelbore, I couldn't find that log for which system was where the anomaly occurred. All I remember was that it happened in the Droju sector. Sorry. :(

Thanks for looking! I may just need to jump around there to see if I stumble on it.

Well done, you are really cracking along nicely now.

If you are heading to Colonia you will enjoy it around there, there are lots of goodies to discover and get your name on within 1 or 2kly of the stations.

Good luck for the rest of the way.

Thank you! I can't wait to see Colonia. Yes, I'm a little over halfway now, and "past the point of no return," as far as I'm concerned. It's fascinating to see all of these star systems, and I've racked up about 5,000,000 credits (spread out over several bases because I'm terrified my ship will be exploded before I reach the next base, which has almost happened twice), along with somewhere around 9 moons, and one planet discovered by me, which is an even greater feeling than making credits, because it puts my name in the game as part of the lore:

"We've arrived at such and such system, and we'll be traveling to this planet surrounded by these moons."
"Interesting. Has this system been discovered?"
"Oh yes, back in 3303, CMDR Aria Coloratura passed through the system, and discovered these."
"Was she amazing?"
"Yes. Yes she was."

:D

Good effort, I went direct from Sacawhatever to Colonia and missed out the other stop off points.

Like the saddo that I am I dated the bookmarks and looking back it took from 31st May to 19th June for my trip, I dare say you are making better progress.

Keep on trucking!

Thank you! I should be in Colonia by Saturday, unless something prevents that, of course. *crosses fingers*

Happy trails, Commander! :)

Thank you! :D

Also, I pulled a double and just arrived at Polo Harbor!

It's cute to see new commanders get excited about their names on bodies. Eventually they realize that 99.996% (thanks, EDSM) of the galaxy is unexplored.....
