The Frontier Expo schedule is online.

Updated the schedule:

  • Mystery Guest Speaker from 3:30 PM till 5:00 PM "Main Stage - A super-secret talk to be revealed at a later date."

Who is this important guest speaker.

From 5:00 PM:

  • Planet Coaster - Anniversary Talk - Special Content Reveal

  • "Elite Dangerous - 3304: The Year Ahead - Special Content Reveal"


  • Mystery Talk - Special Content Reveal - Main Stage
    This top secret talk will be revealing never before seen content of our top secret project currently in development here at Frontier HQ.

This is a special event so Frontier should dedicate a decent amount of time to their franchises.

Is the party after this? They better hire a top singer or DJ.

The FAQ page says:


  • "Please be advised some presentations will come with a mature content advisory warning"

Maybe the new Hollywood IP is a mature game.

Interesting thread : I have *ZERO* idea, which is good since I'm always wrong when I speculate. I kinda hope we'll learn more about the future work on core game mechanics even though obviously this is not what the show will be about.

I'm honestly expecting Jurassic Park for the new game too!

As for Elite news, I'm sad to say that I'm not expecting all that much. They'll probably reveal whatever is replacing the season model and include an overview of the Crime & Punishment system, followed by a little bit of vague information on upcoming 2.4 Thargoid stuff (which will still be unfolding then). Possibly some details of the future core improvements too, but nothing major. Maybe show some development pics of new stuff if we are very lucky.

In my opinion, obviously. :cool:

That would be pretty cool, and I also expect the new IP to be Jurassic Park-based. But you know what? Part of me is hoping it's actually Bladerunner, as I'm assuming Stargate is not on the cards. Something based on Firefly could be cool too but I think that'd be too close to Elite in terms of gameplay......that said, even a Jurassic Park themed game might compete too closely with Planet Coaster too.

Well, well. I thought I was the only one clever enough (or hopeful) to be thinking Bladerunner also. Love that movie.
FD with a presumably 1st Person game though? Hmmm...

Okay, I'll bite! Here is my wishlist of what I would LOVE to see from the Expo:


  • In game screenshots of the new anti-beige improved stellar forge. Lots of pics of colorful, detailed HMC & MR planets that rival the best that even Space Engine can create!
  • A detailed report of the upcoming Crime & Punishment + Karma system.
  • Frontier's plans to improve Exploration mechanics plus new exploration content (see my signature for what they would show!!!)
  • Frontier's plans to improve Trading by implementing a trading computer integrated into the ship computer which stores the commodity prices of the last ten stations you've visited, and can calculate profit margins for goods in your cargo hold at those destinations
  • Frontier's plans to improve Bounty Hunting by implementing a "Sighted Criminals" board into Galnet. This would be integrated with the new C&P system. Whenever a very highly wanted player is spotted by security forces the wanted player will be noted on the board with a time and location, allowing player bounty hunters to constantly monitor this and respond by flying to their location to hunt down wanted criminal players. This should enable regular player PvP all over the bubble!
  • Frontier's plans to improve Mining by implementing a mining SLF and an improved refinery where you can set slots to a certain ore type only, so you now don't need to babysit it constantly.
  • Frontier's plans to improve Combat by adding more variety to the types of CZ's and implementing new kinds of war signal sources.
  • A preview of both the Panther Clipper AND the Imperial Explorer, a medium exploration focused ship meant to rival the Anaconda as the most capable explorer in the game.
  • A preview of a new mining SRV sporting increased cargo space and a surface drilling rig. To go along with this surface mining will be revealed, AND so will a planetary core sample feature, where explorers can search planets to extract core samples and return them for profit (they get more valuable with distance from SOL).
  • Various other teases for core game improvements coming next year!

Ah well, it's nice to dream sometimes!

Yeah that is little time. How can they dedicate just 30 minutes total for Elite Dangerous + the new IP? That's 15 minutes for Elite Dangerous? That's way too short. It would be a rushed presentation or barebones.

Make it a proper 1 hour for Elite Dangerous (presentation and Q&A) and 1 hour for the new IP. This is a special event so they need to dedicate more time to their major franchises.

Frontier should check the presentations of Eve Fanfest. CCP spends much more time on presentations about specific topics:

Art Panel = 40 minutes
Keynote = 1 hour and 35 minutes
Alliance Panel = 1 hour
Concept Art Live Session = 41 minutes
Tournament = 1 hour and 41 minutes
Eve Security = 41 minutes
Improving the Player experience = 41 minutes
Asteroid Mining = 46 minutes just talking about Mining
Ship Balancing = 52 minutes
Prototyping the future = 55 minutes
Player Fiction = 49 minutes

Their event is 3 days, but the point is there's enough to discuss and Frontier should dedicate more time to their franchises. 30 minutes per franchise is too little.

They could make the ED presentation 1 hour by discussing for example Concept Art, the Player Experience, Balancing, Lore etc.

Hope for the best. Expect the worst. Never be disappointed.

You may sometimes be pleasantly surprised however.

I'm quite excited for this, really. I wonder where ED is heading and it will be revealed at least for the forseeable future.

If nothing else, I'll know whether I should take a longer break fro the game or not. I've been neglecting other great games for too long so a bit of unwanted Elite content would not be such a bad idea. ;)

I think a lot of Elite Dangerous will be played. Lots of people will get drunk. Everyone will be hoping to go back to the hotel with Ph1lt0r, who is dressed as Uhura.
