FDev exploiting premium materails from their CMDRs

Im all for new synthesis stuff but is FDev ever going to fix where it takes all premium materials rolled from synthesis away the second you hit resupply. They said we couldn't get free premium rolls from the infinite ammo exploit(I agree) but now that they are screwing us out of a thousand of materials a day(i'm only accounting for the people I play with) and with this new synth its just going to increase that. FDev needs to find a better way.
I have brought this up before because I thought it was a bug but FDev informed me that this is the way its suppose to work and right after they told us getting free premium synthesis ammo is an exploit. Well how is this just not the opposite?

I'm not sure I understand what is going on.

Are you saying that the Premium synthesis uses up the entire stock of material in our inventory, for the materials it requires?

For ships if you use a synthesis on your ship and land at a station and use resupply it takes away any synthesis you used and just puts normal in there. Even if you didnt need to put ammo in. Example: I have three cannons on my Cutter and use premium ammo at all times. If I hit the resupply they go back to normal ammo. Worse yet for SRV's the premium will be earased the second you fly through the mailslot. You dont even need to land to lose synthesis on SRVs. Does that help Ant?

Pretty sure this is by design.

I recall them mentioning it specifically on a live stream before this feature was implemented. Resupplying will resupply you with all normal ammo types.

I agree there need to be a clear fail safe on the resupply button if you're using enhanced ammo. I've lost a bunch of premium PA rounds because of the old habit that is press refuel-repair-restock whenever I dock. :)

Also the Premium material usage for synthesis is quite heavy when you compare it to G5 Engineering. Premium missile synthesis is particularly high. Arsenic, Polonium, Niobium, Mercury and Phosphorus all in large quantities.

Doesn't sound like a problem to me. If you want the synthesised ammo, don't restock - just use synthesis. Though the SRV issue does sound like a problem - has it been reported as a bug?

Thanks for clarifying. This is actually pretty bad, even if it is intended. I can't really see why it needs to work like this, unless it is a technical limitation.

I don't think there's a way, currently, to differentiate between two different types of ammo in one weapon. It needs work, for sure.

And if they fix it, maybe a reload magazine button....
On this note, have the cops finally stopped reloading their mags by firing randomly... usually at the nearest player? (Haven't been to a non-haz res for a long minute)

Sounds like the devs are guilty of exploits. Is that why there was no livestream tonight? Ed must have got banned for a few weeks.

So can't you just go into the resupply menu and only resupply the items you want to a leave your premium ammo loaded cannons alone?

If you tell the ground crew at the station to resupply ALL then of course they are going to reload with standard ammo. They probably don't know the difference. Don't blame them because you can't be bothered to tell them what to resupply.

I just don't use it. The game is grindy enough without grinding for special consumables.

I go down to 2 planets 2 times a week to collect a total of 30 synthesis, 10 for each of my cannons. That covers me every week and I spend about 40 minutes to collect the stuff. Just like everything in Elite, there is easy ways to do things and hard ways to do things. You have to spend the time to figure out the easy ways and not just wipe 30% extra damage off like its nothing. Do not get me wrong. I am not trash talking your way to play. Its just that I personally cant turn down that extra damage. Especially since its so easy to get the materials....Again, for me.

Yes you can do this but there is the problem of accidentally hitting it and then the other problem of it taking ammo already there away. It is stealing materials away. I understand the issue for not having two different ammo types in one modual. That would solve all of this. It can just put the new regular ammo in and keep the old premium ammo stacked on top. When it runs out it switches to the regular ammo. Problem solved on both sides.

Advanced Maintenance? Problem solved I think since there you can choose what to top off. So if you have synthesis active, dont use full resupply button. A bit of hassle but hey. Better than losing it or wait until FDev maybe fixes it.

So there is a way to do it then. Seems like a complaint for not much tbh

I reckon it's a technical issue. It bears no logic that is for sure. If I go clay pigeon shooting and use half a belt of cartridge, when I come home I replace what I used. It don't bin what I had left and crack open a new box each time.... Fuel, maybe I could get behind but even then a warning "you will lose your high octane superfuel if you fill up here as it's not mixable" should be inorder

on the other hand, if you want to rearm most Gatling regardless of if they are ended or endless belt, it normally entails replacing the whole belt with a new belt, so the logic is actually fine.

what you do post clay pigeon shooting with a comparatively small number of cartrages is not even remotely comparable.
