Thargoid Data Gathering Effort: We need your help!

Has anyone tried analysing the direction they are travelling when they jump?

I was thinking that we might be able to line up behind them and then select some reference stars and record their positions.

Merope, Polaris, the permit locked col sector and the permit locked surface sites might be good candidates.

Im back in the area now. I had travelled out around 7k to get Elite Explorer at last.

Still only a handful of hyperdictions logged between Merope & bubble, real shame we aren't getting more people logging their encounters. Might have to spend the evening jumping between merope & bubble and see what turns up.

Reports outside Thargoid shell (Start systems):

Synuefe BG-V b35-0 215.0Ly
Arietis Sector MX-T b3-0 221.7Ly
Synuefe ZM-Q d6-42 190.4Ly (only one not towards Sol, so might be that hyperdictions are just a larger area than NHSS)
Col 285 Sector MU-R a20-5 250.8Ly
Tocopa 250.0Ly

That one was entered by hand so it may be in error. We need someone to go out and verify it.

Sorry I think I'm reading the mapper wrong. Can you confirm for me?

The mapper shows Pleiades sector DL-Y D58 as being 264ly from Merope. I'm there now and it's only 35ly from Merope. I'm new to the mapper so I may have done something dumb, can someone check?

Not installed the mapper yet. The mapper gets the coordinates from EDSM. That looks to me like the x and y coordinates have been switched.

Did that in about 20 NHSS, the direction of their jumps seemed to be completely random. I'm out exploring for a short while to relax, when I'm back I will continue to analyse their jump directions.

Thanks. I've checked on edsm and the coordinates match Ed so I guess it's a mapper issue.

I'm currently trying to stay between 130 and 160ly of Merope with the plugin active to try to confirm the edge of the shell.

EDIT: I've done a bunch of systems on the edge of the shell now, something I've noticed is that I don't think I've come across any NHSS in systems with no planets, is that a thing or just random luck?

Right, I've got dozens of NHSS events to report (logged in EDDiscovery), unless anyone can tell me a way or program to extract the info from the journal I'm going to have to manually report each one :(.
I'm going to make a start now.....

Sorry, but I'm going to have to skip the lexicon thing, it would just take too long otherwise.

Well I submitted about 23 NHSSs, then EDDiscovery decided to refresh, which lost my sorting order that I can't get back! Fs! [mad]

I have tried to find out if they all jump into a common direction, but as Humannoyed already stated, it seems to be completely random.
I have as well tried, to follow the Thargoid through his 'wormhole'(?) [big grin], but when it jumps away, the wormhole implodes and the ship bounces back (Causes no damage). Not shure, if its possible, I couldn't get closer than 800m in that case.

In my Imp Eagle I was able to overtake them to their own jump hole! :D, but same affect, I just bounced off it.

[edit] Yey, managed to get the sorting order back after closing EDDisco & restarting it :)
[edit2] Phew, done! Just over 90 in all!, I'm going to install EDCM now!

Btw, in your TS NHSS sheet, you've got a column listed as inusual instead of unusual ;)

Anyone know if EDDisco & EDMC (not EDCM) run ok together?

Wow! Those are a lot of reports! Thank you!
I'll correct the typo when I can :D.

By the way: Anyone knows how can I make google spreadsheet to automatically add new names from the systems columns to keep a graph of number of alien activities per system? I seem to be unable to do this :S. I would like to end up with a list saying:
Merope: X NHSS 5 reports
Maia: T NGSS 5 reports

Etc.

and by the way, if anyone wants access to edit the spreadsheet, just ask, I'll be very happy to grant it.

The new version of my plugin is now doing hyperdiction detection and logging as well as recording coordinates and distance to Sol and Merope.
It also has a patrol zone which covers amonia systems between earth and the Merope shell

If anyone wants to use it then they can download load.py from The Thargoid-Patrol branch

Does anyone know of a reliable way of getting hyperdicted? Its difficult to test without being hyperdicted :)

Still a long way to go on the user interface but we are a step closer to being able to join the manual and automatic responses together and when done you will be able to have the manual responses partly filled in.

I only got hyperdicted once.
"Unable to connect with frontier servers" crash issued next.

I cried, very hard. So sorry but no, no reliable way is known. I did monitor closely the hyperdictions when they first started and we couldn't find any pattern on how they happened except that it was in the UA shell. Appart of this, they seemed completely random.#

EDIT: Here you have the spreadsheet of that research. Maybe you'll find something I didn't (but any apparent result turned up to be some sort of bias :S)

You should be able to create a pivot but not sure how in google. The form has a summary function you might be able to tap into

Cool, I have installed that file and will start using it tomorrow. Thanks!

I've been hyperdicted only once since 2.4 and it seemed entirely random. I've been all over the Pleiades, out to Witchead, skirted Col70, the Guardian sites, back, bubble, back, various surface sites, etc. I sadly can't remember what I was doing before I got hyperdicted, but I mostly just drop into NHSS's and scan Thargoids.

I'm now carrying a Probe in cargo and jumping around to see if that helps. I might go get a UA too, just to hedge bets. Back before 2.4 when I got hyperdicted it was not long after being scanned by a probe, so maybe that's still a factor?
