Elite RPG tabletop

Sorry to ask if this is the wrong place. But I think you could enlighten me.

I purchased few days ago "Elite Dangerous RPG", and now unexpectedly, I found in the Daftworks store, "Elite Encounters", aparently a different Tabletop RPG.
I never expected to see that there were two different RPG Elite games. Am I right they are different products?
Is there any information where I could find data comparing both systems?
Thanks in advance.

They're both great!

One is by Spidermind Games and has both a PDF and a hardcover edition
The other is by Dave Hughes (a.k.a. Selezen) under the name Daftworks

You are right, they are different games.

Technically, Elite Encounters was there first, but was never fully released for a long time.
Elite RPG is more well known, I would say.

As I am no tabletop RPG player, I will not judge either game. The Laveradio-Crew had a lot of fun testplaying both games:

Encounters was tested 2015 and Elite RPG in 2017.

Well, thanks for clarifying it to me. I wander how Encounters escaped my scanner...

One thing I loved reading 2017 "Elite Dangerous RPG" was a sentence saying (concerning its system and how the open world works) "... do you want to play a horror adventure, you can...". I find space and horror quite close to eachother and always thought it would be cool to play a horror adventure in the Elite Universe.

Vingtetun, it appears yuo have the rules of Encounters... Do you think it is an enough "open system" to create with it such an adventure?

Both of them are open enough to deliver what you want - it all really exists in the mind of whoever creates the "encounter" (the GM or similar). Different approaches to the rules regarding creation of your character - both include extensive information on vehicles and how they are involved in the game from what I recall....
Really, they're just two sides of the same Coriolis station when it comes to gaming - it won't matter which you choose, but better make sure your friends are on the same game!

Dave's mighty tome of information and sheets was up at Fantasticon this year and have seen many people playing it over the last couple of years as it has evolved.
Spidermind's one I had the privilege of having my mugshot on one of the promo posters for it and spent HOURS talking to John about it (also up at Fantasticon). Artwork wise, this is the more polished one (the price reflects this) but when it comes down to gameplay, it's really just a personal choice.

As mentioned above, the crew of the Orange sidewinder have played both extensively, probably best to listen back to podcasts and see which you prefer.

Thanks a lot for the info. Will check it out.

In my imaginary spacegame of all features, it would allow me to fly all the way across the galaxy like Elite, to hide in a maintenance closet like in Alien Isolation. With the RPG, it'd be waay easier to make happen.
