PvP Justifications for seal-clubbing?

I'm not sure it's worth discussing this but, I feel like venting....

I'm out in Merope, doing various things including Palin's missions.

Depending what else I'm up to, I might be flying my Anaconda, my AspX or, perhaps, a DBX, Cobra, Viper or Sidey.

When I show up at the crashed scout ship there are often other ships around.
When I'm in my Annie I never seem to get any trouble.
Same thing in my AspX, Cobra and even my DBX.

In the Viper or Sidey, however, I always seem to get somebody, usually in an Anaconda or Cutter, start shooting at me.

Just seems a bit odd to me.
I doubt anybody flying an Annie or Cutter is expecting an intense fight from a Sidey.
I know they're not going to earn anything from my bounties, cos I haven't got any, and I doubt a Cutter jockey can make a living from scooping any cargo carried by a Viper or Sidey.
There's no BGS-related reason to attack me and, of course, there's no comm's indicating any other reason.

Seems like it must simply be a weird desire to rain on somebody else's parade. [sad]

So, I was just wondering if anybody has any suggestions for why people do this stuff?

Also, if you're just going to post "cos the game allows it"... just don't bother.
We all get that the game allows it.
What I'm asking is why you'd want to do it.

Probably related to your Combat Rank, they think they'll get a "challenging encounter" or something.

Some just want to watch the world burn. No other "reason" for it.

Sorry Stealthie, I'm not buying that you "don't get messed with when you're flying your Annie and only get hassled when in a small, unarmed ship."

People are venting their frustration with the game and lack of end game (well, we've got thargoids, that is a good start) and maybe try to discurrage or drive away new players.

Some percentage of individuals receive pleasure from harming things/people which are smaller and weaker than themselves. It's been that way for millions of years, and barring truly radical social changes it will be like that for as long as our species lasts.

I've had similar experiences myself. The most striking one was actually during the 2.3(?) beta. Watching some people in 'Vettes and such shooting obvious exploration ships landed at the alien ruins, while completely ignoring me circling in a meta FAS.

S'funny, I don't recall mentioning that my Viper and Sidey aren't armed. [where is it]

a sidey, maybe ... but an unarmed viper? did they even see you? that's potentially a rocket, a blur on their radar.

i'm with jason, doesn't really make much sense. unless ... sideys and vipers are peanuts, maybe your griefers do have a heart after all and don't want to wreck your bigger ships?

you could have asked them. e.g., you could have returned in your conda.

I must have misunderstood jason's comment.
He seemed to be saying he didn't believe it happens.

I agree with you though. It doesn't make much sense, hence why I posted this thread.

Just seems kind of cowardly to play nice with big ships around but then try and destroy little ships.

i personaly love the taste of seal, but for the in game analogy, to teach noobs a lesson about the harshness of the world

Because they didnt save 15% by switching to Geico......

They need to kill something that they know has zero chance of doing anything to them.....Its probably from LowT
