PvP An Investigation Into Frontier's Actions on Combat Logging, Part 2

They did do something, they looked at the dodgy source of the fake report and ignored it. Anything else would have been a waste of support resources.

You're hear to show yourself up, since that's all you've done. Will make a note of your name in case you change your pic so I know never to lend your words weight.

But tell me how you can see difference in game if I'm doing 15 seconds exit or not? Ship remaining in space same ammount of time when someone is doing CL. For me you are just whining no matter what, that someone don't wanna play like you want.

Kudos to Rinzler for a fun thread - even if it's all old news! CL is bad - check / CL should be dealt with - check / Frontier have done nothing in 3 yrs to rectify the issue - CHECK!!!!

Quick question Rinz (not designed to adversely influence the views of the non-PvP player-base towards you or anything) - Do you still go ganking single DBSs flown by relatively new players, with Bazinga in your god-rolled FDLs?

Only time I've ever attacked a DBS during my short time in that overpowered PoS was against a member of an enemy player group who liked to masquerade as one of us while ganking randoms. We killed him over and over and over while he was trying to station gank people that he eventually gave up.

Master ranked DBS if I remember right, but PvP fitted and keen to gank randoms. Also my FDL is nowhere near godrolled, since I despise the ship and didn't spend much time engineering it. 5 rolls per module, and using my vulture's drives. Bazinga's FDL is what I'd consider godrolled though.

Thing is though, if you deliberately set out to be bad guys in the game (which you* did), and go out of your way to do increasingly ish things (which you* did), then you shouldn't expect much sympathy if you suddenly start complaining about other people being ish to you.

You may well be right in your claims, but very few people are going to care.

C'est la vie.

*SDC, not you personally, necessarily.

ED could use some bad guys, but instead of bad guys we got weaponized autism.

Don't call me a cheat if you can't back it up with evidence. And either way, accusing me of cheating does not subtract from what I have posted about Frontier's negligence regarding serial taskkillers.

Serial "taskkillers"? 5 times in 5 months makes one a serial "taskkiler"?
Wonder how many exploited G5 god rolls make one a serial cheater?

No game dev has ever taken a player to court over hacking their game to give themselves god mode or the like because it would be a pointless waste of time and money when they could simply just ban their account and be done with it.

Fortnite have settled on a copyright lawsuit against Charles 'Joreallean' Vraspir. The company took Vraspir to court accusing him of a breaching the game's End User License Agreement by injecting unauthorized code into the game, allowing him to cheat.

Your posting about this, using a legitimate issue as an excuse to have a go at the developers does undermine the effort others put into actually solving these kind of problems though.

As you have read there are people who actively do not want this issue to be addressed because of your association with it.

Those people need to get over themselves. Problems are problems no matter who is pointing them out.

Those people need to get over themselves. Problems are problems no matter who is pointing them out.

Both sides need to. Takes two to tango, and I don't see threads like this as part of the solution. Overall they do more harm than good, which I suspect is what was intended. This is just a convenient cause to latch on to.

Actually, well pointed out - I'm not entirely 100% with it by the end of the working day - so I'll take that slap on the wrist. Bad StiTch!

But yeah, the point still stands. x bonds or bounties are retained because of CLing, there is influence on the galaxy that should not have been.

And what of the 60,000,000 in bonds and bounties gracefully, peacefully and quietly delivered by those playing in Solo mode or in Private Groups, out of the reach of those who would attempt to stop them?
What of the countless number of Mostly Open players who willfully change game modes when approaching hostile stations to deliver their cargo, bonds or bounties, out of the reach of those who would do them harm?
Would this also not be considered Influence that Should Not Have Been?

How about those Open players who Block others, preventing or greatly reducing the likelihood of instancing with them, thus also preventing themselves from coming to harm?

Your point is taken, and earned, but the otherwise completely legitimate means of circumventing encounters only serves to illustrate an even deeper design issue from which there may never be any real recovery.

Looking forward to a thoughtful discussion on the topic and hopefully a prompt reply from a member of FDev. Good work guys!

Ya know?
I've never seen a person turn blue.

Thank you Jonuss - for providing the opportunity to do so.

Please - immediately begin holding your breath until a "prompt reply from FD" is received. Have someone standing by with a camera. Send pics of you turning blue.

One wonders - light blue, dark blue, azure? What shade of blue do you think you'll turn...

How do you know they did do something ??? Oh wait assumptions as usual.

Those were not fake reports btw.
They did nothing and it is a fact. We provided video evidence and : 0 views, 0 warning.

If only for once you knew what you were talking about... sigh

Of course they were faked reports it says so in the OP, and FDEV didn't need to watch the video's when they received them from such a dodgy source they could just ignore them.

As an FDEV customer I'm glad they don't waste support resources on this bilge.

Yep, another poster also linked this case. It does seem to be at the individual developer's descretion but it bears saying that case involved a very serious breach of their game's code and not just a simple exploit or an invulnerability cheat. The guy inserted his own code into their software in order to change the way their software functions and that's a big legal no, no as it messes with their IP and could destroy their game for good if he spread how-to videos about it. That's similiar to how Apple would sue any person if they compromised their new iPhone's patented security algorithms.

He underlined it for you:

"4.4 You may not use the Game or any Online Features in a manner that could damage, disable, impair, overburden or compromise our systems or security or interfere with the experience of other users of the Game or any Online Feature."

I'll expand by adding that if you combat log you are:
- disabling the way the game works in that you save yourself from damage or even a rebuy via unintended, out of game means
- compromising the mechanics of the gameplay, i.e. rebuys/repairs as a consequence of being in a fight.
- Interferring with other users experience and the online nature of the game by taking yourself out of the intended mechanics of the game.

15 second menu exit does not apply as it is accepted by the devs.

I suppose an equal argument could be made that persisting to attack someone who has requested that you cease doing so also interferes with the experience of other users of the game or any Online Features.
Likewise this could easily encompass Station Ramming, Planetary Ganking, Private Group invasions, unwanted chat transmissions, and repeated interdictions.

Just all depends on how well you grease your legal representative and how much you've contributed to the judge's campaign fund.

Have to disagree here. Part of the experience as described by FDev involves getting shot at by people flying other ships. Whether or not it's an NPC or player doesn't matter. And they did specifically state Open was fair game for PvP. Even when they started talking about the new C & P, they said that it doesn't mean they don't want you to be "naughty" (their choice of word) but that there should be consequences if you are.

Therefore, being shot at is part of the experience, as is doing the shooting.
