Awkward question that really needs an answer

When Horizon's was announced they said it would cost £40 and future seasons would be the same about every year or so and the current path was about ten years of seasons if things went well etc etc so 10 x 40 = £400 > £130ish even if the game lasts 5 years well then that's a saving and if it goes bust well that's life.

It's been two years since and all I've seen is 1 season of paid content which is a little late but ok that's life, but now the next season is free?

Either a) I just got punked b) Frontier are doing ok with flair and want to provide free content in which case can I get a refund of sorts as you've decided change the model so much. c) big stuff is around the corner that will start to make my life long membership thing worthwhile......

I accepted the season structure had changed and small DLC is fine if the same lifetime deal holds true but feels a little stale tbh

How/if are FD going to make it right?

What exactly do they need to "make right"?

Did they announce with the introduction of Horizons that all future content would be "paid" DLC? If so, I must have missed that part.

To my knowledge, they've introduced plenty of other content to the game that wasn't paid DLC.

There will be paid content this year, us lifetime users will get that content for free. I signed up so I don't have to pay for these random paid expansions (call then part of seasons/DLC's/Expansions.. Whatever) seems to be working for me so far.

No they said that the future DLC would be in seasons about every year and that they would be about £40 each and that lifetime would get you everything for the next ten years. (on the assumption obviously the project was still running)

They've said there's going to be paid non cosmetic content this year (which lifetime people get). Its still a secret what it is.

Great, yes, is this going to be another Cobra Mk IV? A ship behind a paywall that no one wanted behind a paywall?

If it was worth announcing, it'd have been announced, but FDev still aren't positive they're even going to deliver, so they're keeping quiet just in case they've got to lower the bar and under-perform.

OK, but that doesn't negate the fact that they can still make improvements to the game other than announced future DLC, right?

AFAIK, Beyond in itself was announced as future "improvements mainly to the core of the game"- and other than a few new ships added in, I haven't seen any "seasonal content" yet discussed for this year.

Who knows what else they have in mind, or what else they've got cooking in the kitchen?

Not trying to dissuade anyone from feeling "dissatisfied" here, but we're two weeks into a new year and some are acting like it's already November.

Next season is free because if FDev don't charge for it, they can't be held liable for delivering it on time if ever.

They learned their lesson with Horizons. "Commitments are hard and expensive, let's just kind of mumble through the next year and see what happens."

This.

Horizons is, basically, "Planetary landings and some other stuff too" and they got lucky by delivering planetary landings as described because most of the "other stuff too" isn't especially polished or finished.

Somebody obviously realised that adding another paid season of DLC on top of an existing mish-mash of paid DLC would be asking for trouble.

Good on FDev for committing to spend a year trying to tidy up what they've already delivered but the big "test" will be whether or not we see any paid DLC in 2019.
If we do then I guess they still have plans for ED.
If we don't....

This is what people complain about when they say they want a real roadmap set in stone.

Forget money. It's not about money.

We want to know that our TIME is being well invested in this game, because our TIME is our most valuable asset and an entire year is a significant portion of TIME to be throwing around.

I would love to see your source for that info. I don't think Frontier ever said all that.

They committed to a season pass model when the definition of Season passes wasn't being stretched to it's extreme (FDev almost set the trend here) and meant one year of paid content.

Nothing to argue about. A season pass is a pretty standard thing, unless you screw up.

Feel like someone needs to mention the Rock with the amount of cooking in the kitchen comments

Horizon's release 1.5/2.0 was announced 6 months before it went live if I remember rightly so we will see

Make what right?

You bought Horizons, FD delivered Horizons. The issue is...?

Now you may think it wasn't as good as you thought it would be, but that does not change the fact that FD delivered Horizons.

I cannot see what needs to be made right, sorry.
