Yeah but look at all the writing and acting experience you've gotten over the years from it. Your polite yet slightly aggrieved and disappointed tonality usually placed just beyond reproach is honed to a razor sharpness.![]()

Ed calls it Season 3 in the recent news thread:
I stand corrected then. With all the moaning about "Beyond" being underwhelming and perceived lessened quality due to being free and perceived as mainly revamping "core mechanics & gameplay (& graphics)",(as well as Frontier stating prior to the expo they were moving away from the "season" format. Now that Ed has called Beyond "season3" perhaps it was either a flub from habit, or the refrain from the season format is actually temporary and ED will be back to the full season format retroactively after or during the Beyond "refit" going by Q1,Q2, etc. for now) I was tending to think beyond was mainly more of a welcome renovation which is still all good to me and appreciated. I'm still willing wait and pay for a season-full of new content such as atmospherics, spacelegs and have faith ED will one day get there.
I think what they actually meant was that they are moving away from the 'pay now and receive a few updates over the next few years (maybe)' and move to a 'buy a complete expansion' model instead.
That's my understanding as well, that they're moving from the "seasonal" model to a "complete DLC expansion" type of system. (which I really agree is the best course of action... seasonal models are troublesome in nature)
Which doesn't mean they must stop using the term season. They could just say that they release a free series of updates every year and call it a season and release expansions on top of it.

Possibly - with the Season of updates adding to all previous Seasons (and, presumably, DLCs).
OP sorry but.. its a) you just got punked. Do the math..
Exactly. Technically they alread did this with the 1.x releases over the last two years, they just didn't give it a fancy name.
How do you do the math when you don't have the numbers at hand? How many paid expansions will be released before the lifetime of the game is over?
You don't know? And you didn't know when you bought the LEP either? How do you know it's a) then?
Please stop talking about the future.. not cool. Talk about facts. As for today (facts, present day) we know what the math tells us. So far we ve got a season that was supposed to be for a year and they turned it to last 2 years. The numbers so far tells me that we had a season that failed. And failed in more than one ways (look at multicrew).
Power play, qcq, multicrew, the whole season for christ sake.. one failure after the other and you want to think what?
Dont get me wrong, game is fine as it is but.. expect that 2018 and 2019 will bring BIIIIG SURPRISES? Lol.
Edit: i dont own a LEP thank God, how you got that idea?

What new programming methods? I'm a programmer and not aware of new "methods." New tools for game developers using C++? I'm not a C++ programmer any longer, but I do watch for trends and new programming tools in general, but I'm not familiar with any new tools for C++. Genuinely interested if I've missed them (it's possible) but since it's OT, you can PM me the info. Thanks
Wow, the OP has created so many straw men in this thread that it's in danger of becoming a fire hazard. It's very entertaining though![]()
