I signed up using my android phone so it should work fine by using your tablet. It just links to a google doc, your phone or tablet web browser should be fine.

Reckon I'll try it again, possible it was added after my first earily attempt, thanks for the heads up.

UPDATE, I clicked on submit, and not the save link on the page that followed. Reckon I'll have to wait a week to see if I did it correctly.

looking at the list of those ahead of me, I'm bringing extra porta potties and charging a fee. Then taking the contents to other planets and moons, gonna do some teraforming. The ole fashion way, by dumping the contents, adding some fresh and salt water to the mix. In additon to a small electronic charge to get the whole thing cooking. I mean naming an object is cool, but being the creator of life on a number of systems is cooler yet, reckon.

Just signed up, glad there's a while to go yet I'm in the middle of my first long distance trip out to Colonia. Can't wait for this though it looks like it'll be a lot of fun.

If everyone equipped just one weapon (make it lightweight), you could defend against even engineered ships by numbers alone, assuming instances like we had at Dove Enigma. I'm not sure a typical "grief ship" could even keep up with exploration ships for long. It would add an element of fun / suspense, kinda like being part of the Galactica Fleet (griefers being Cylons).

Then again, I'd be surprised if DW2 fleet admirals choose Open...

I have to agree. Various instances of “griefing” have been observed within this community, with the Dove Incident being of the most heinous nature imaginable. Regardless of personal fears I’m forced to agree with the sentiment that “open” should be the mode of choice. Somehow, playing in a sanitised bubble dishonours those who sacrificed a great deal to come to the aid of the Dove. This “simulation” for various reasons seems to be reflecting the better natures of the human condition: compassion, solidarity, community, gentility and kindness. All the qualities, I’m sure we would agree, that should NOT be hidden behind the shield of a PG. These qualities should be for all to see on such an important expedition. We should build on the strengths of the Dove Incident and consolidate so that those who feel the urge to “meddle” will rue the day!

To be honest I think Open will be fine for DW2, most player attacks happen in the bubble and at that in the hot spots of CGs and Engineers bases etc. Even then its not usually that bad on the PS4. By the time we are making our way out of the bubble most players who want to kill other players really won't be bothered to travel thousands of light years to do it, never say never but I seriously doubt it. Much easier pray elsewhere.

This is of course unless someone sets up specifically to disrupt DW2.

It dawns on me that both Open and PG could easily coexist in DW2, since you really don't want more than 20 in an instance due to framerate and other issues, and yet over 100 are signed up IIRC. If I were signing up as CSP (combat space patrol), I'd be in open because what's the point otherwise? However, I definitely see why some would choose PG, because being killed just outside of Beagle Point would really, really suck.. And considering how griefers have tormented Fuel Rats this way in the past, I would be surprised if griefers don't stage attacks along the planned route.

I do hope there is a group of players that risks open, as it would make for some extra excitement, even for folk like me who will be tending the home fires and watching with interest via galaxy map and news feeds.

I think that it will be a moot point because, as Stormy has already said, griefers tend to stick close to the bubble so beyond the initial exit of the bubble most people will be beyond the reach of the idiots.

To Old Duck, if you are running CSP, wouldn't a wing request ensure that you will be in the same local instance of any pilot wanting support?

I am a lowly trader, hoping to take my Type-9 to places a Type-9 hasn't gone before.
I'll take the lead of more seasoned travellers as to which instance we should be in.

Tell that to the griefers who transported UAs all the way to Colonia.

There are always exceptions, and there was an instance of someone being killed at SagA by an SDC guy on PC.

The thing is I seriously doubt most people interesting in PvP really could be bothered to try and chase a bunch of explorers into the middle of nowhere. They could spend days and days and days finding no one, nothing, blackness, especially if people jumped over to a PG.

People who want to blow up other players really wont be bothered and want to actually find people, CGs etc.

Did DW1 get attacked? As you say its possible, I just believe its highly improbable.

Dedicated combat ships also have absolutely abysmal jump ranges.

I believe that most of the griefers are not adults, what kid is going to set sail and position themselves at a point a day or two away from the bubble where as they normally play, and sit there wating for an armada in hope of griefing a couple of ships. It suggested that there's gonna be some fun times available and one should bring a couple of srv's and a couple of fighters, yes they add a bit of weight and cut down the range at bit, but having them will allow one to partake in the various fun things they have planned. And if one has them, griefers are gonna be the ones being griefed.

I mean giving up a couple of ly of range is well worth the investment, when it supposed to be a fun outting not a race. OK, it will take a couple of extra jumps which will cause some not to arrive at particular destinations first. It's not a race!

...... Then again, I'd be surprised if DW2 fleet admirals choose Open...

this is info from official DW2 thread :

Modes of Play on DW2

DW2 will not be mode-specific, meaning players are free to experience it in Open, Solo, or their own Private Group Mode with their own rules for that group if they wish. The DW2 organization team take no responsibility for what happens in Open Play or personal Private Groups during the event. There will be an official private group for non-CG related events (basecamp meets and roleplayed events etc), this is FleetComm - you can apply to FleetComm here ....

That makes a lot of logical sense but as you say it would be a high profile event to try and disrupt...

I don't know whether it's been confirmed yet, but didn't they use an exploit that's now been patched for 3.0?

Frontier is investigating this possibility. I've not heard if they've confirmed it or not. If it's true, I'd love to know what that exploit is / was. If there's a "wormhole" exploit in the game, I want to try it out before Frontier nerfs it :D
