Kingdom Come Deliverance

Truly marvelous game, even with it's remaining bugs. Just like Skyrim :) (although they're very different games).

As for social justice warriors being angered, to me it's an sweet added bonus. I love it when they're screeching, it's when they're happy that I fear for the world.

Can't rep you but so flippin true.

This game is very deep. Really enjoying the choices for completing the tasks so far. It's making me think through my actions that's for sure.

Liking this...very reminiscent of Morrowind difficulty wise. I was trying to get hold of a few potions until I realised I couldn't read
Have to go see a scribe to teach you

So far...I've died a lot...got thrown in jail a bucketload of times since I haven't managed to pick a damned lock successfully..

My sword fighting technique is waving the sword about wildly in the general direction of bad guys...then falling over with exhaustion

My archery skills extend to not shooting myself accidentally...
I ran out of arrows just trying to shoot a hare 3 yards away...totally exhausted myself in the process since I had won a bow in a competition that I neither had the strength nor the skill to use...found that out after I had sold my other one.

I tend to over eat all the time resulting in a piggy icon on the HUD...makes you sluggish.

Yup, highly recommended all in all. As an aside... Editing the .pak file sorted out the innate drunkenness every time I saved the game with saviour schnapps, turning my character into a complete blathering eejit [yesnod]

And....Bless the Nexus for the easy lockpicking mod :D

Adding to my previous comments, now that I have about 20 hours in, the game does finally open up a bit and offer you choices about what to do. So it gets a little better.

But you still have no control over your character at key points.

For example, my Henry went to meet a priest at the tavern to talk about a murder. A long cutscene played out during which Henry got totally smashed and wound up having sex with the barmaid, all without any input from me. I didn’t get to say yay or nay, nothing. I just got to watch.

Meh. I’m just going along for the ride, I guess. It’s fun, just not what I think of as an RPG.

And I dislike the combat system. So there’s that. lol.

I think we're spoiled by Bethesda, Bioware and the likes when comes to "free will" (and imparting it on our characters) I suspect this never was the intention of the KD devs.
As for the combat system, well, as per my previous post, I struggle as well. But I enjoy struggling, so far.

I remember a game, it could be a good 20 years ago, by the name Die by the Sword (or something very similar) It also had completely detatched body and sword movement with momentum and inertia to consider. I remember I enjoyed it a great deal, despit never being able to convince the character to do exactly what I wanted. Maybe this time it'll be different. Flailing aimlessly also works, though. :D

I remember that game, had alot of fun playing it due to the physics and the funny moments it created. Monsters could trip and fall if they rushed you on a slope, and you could trip over your own feet and faceplant yourself :D. Traps would send you flying and you could chop off Kobold arms and use them as a weapon. What little voiceover there was was amusing, especially the instructor in the tutorial.

Kingdom Come is #1 bestseller on steam atm and a large viewercount on Twitch as well. They're doing quite well despite some of the negative press.

Xbox patch on friday, don't want to buy now and download the game twice due to the size of the patch. Unsurprisingly the PC version looks way better, was expecting the X1X to look a bit better than the PS4 Pro, maybe it will be improved in a future update. Both console versions look very similar as seen in this comparison.

Yeah, it created many memorable moments for the wrong reasons but I think it was a first game with such physics in it I've played. May even first created. :)

I don't have it yet, but what I've seen of the yt playthroughs, it reminds me a lot of "Darklands" in terms of style, period music, land exploring, close time period, etc. , but just the segment of nationalistic bohemians where in Darklands you traveled all throughout Germany of the holy roman empire. I think a great sequel to KCD , would be to expand it and make it similar to Darklands setting,( expanded in KCD 3D).

"In Medieval Germany, reality is more horrifying that fantasy."

I'm happy I'm not the only one that thought Darklands when they saw Kingdom Come.

I'm not find Archery all that hard, I managed to bag quite a few Hares in that hunting mission. Lockpicking is another matter. I actually picked the first lock I tried and thought this is pretty easy, I haven't managed to pick another one since, and ran out of picks during a tutorial bit were someone was telling me how to do it.

I think I must of missed that lockpicking tutorial completely, the only time I did get to have a go during a quest I failed 4 out of 4 times.

I ran out of arrows just trying to shoot a hare 3 yards away...totally exhausted myself in the process since I had won a bow in a competition that I neither had the strength nor the skill to use...found that out after I had sold my other one.

I think they have gone a bit extreme with bow aiming because there are no visual cues or even a proper AIM to use and predicting where the arrow will go is almost impossible.

I added an archery reticule via the console. If you notice, there's one there all the time when you're walking about or even sword fighting...until you draw a bow then it disappears. Console command for the reticule is:
wh_pl_showfirecursor 1

I also found I was over correcting my aim trying to keep the bow on target. Once I had enabled the reticule, it was easier to see that and once I initially put the pip on the target I just drew the bow and loosed the arrow without trying to correct the aim....works. The bow aiming has a natural wobble when you nock the arrow and draw, the pip returns to centre on its own.

I also added the easy lockpicking mod from the Nexus after many frustrating hours of breaking lockpicks and developing a budding career as a failed burglar from inside a prison cell...
With the mod installed, you still have to learn and level up your lockpicking skill as normal, but the mod removes the annoying and frustrating mini-game. When you lockpick a chest or door, if you have the required lock picking skill level, the box/door will just open.

That and a bit of editing to remove the requirement for Saviour Schnapps to save the game certainly improved my experience somewhat...opinions will vary of course [yesnod]

To be honest I think the bow aiming difficulty is quite realistic for aiming a bow without a sight, I do have a couple of bows IRL and hitting something at any distance without a sight does take quite a bit of practice

It's far easier to do it IRL quite honestly. Because you know...depth perception, and everything :D

some people are actually really good at it.

Not so sure, when I first started I was missing the target completely by similar distances to how I was in the game at first, then I started to get the hang of it and I'm getting the hang of it in the game now. It's just practice IRL and in the game
