Each release buggier than next? (Rant)

So, I've got email "Beyond – Chapter 1 OUT NOW Play now to experience new ways to trade, fight and explore yada yada"
So I decide to see what all this was about.

Updated launcher. "Need to reboot" - ehh, this is year 2018 not 2010? Ok, made into launcher. First page - javascript errors. Err, ok.
Upgrade button seem still work, updated client. Launcher page now shows "nginx error" boilerplate page. Great, webserver server crash or overloaded (and FDev didn't even bother to change default error page to something nicer from black&white text).

Still, launcher seem to have updated client, game launched ok.
Somewhat subtle Elite logo intro change, umm, ok I guess.

Logged in to game - well, seems to run fine. Browsed mission board a bit - reward filter is nice, no really better rewards though, same stuff not-worth-doing. Some "wing missions", maybe will try later. No much more instantly visible changes (for better or worse).

Ok, time to go to home system, undock, jump.
On hyperspace, "wham" (, have I being hyperdicted??), nope - "Transaction server unrecoverable error".
Thought will log in just to check if my stuff still here - can't login. Looks like server crashed. Ok, why bother.

Frontier delivers you say? Why professional game dev company still can't manage to launch a moderately-sized expansion update smoothly? And, if anything, each launch gets worse. Not "maintenance mode" you say? Rigorous beta testing this time you say?

Ok, I've played my share of game already anyway. But FDev, do you realise what impact this mess is having on all new players? I assume you care.

Sorry I am disappoint
/rant off

It's not uncommon for servers and games to misbehave after update release, no big deal. In couple of days all will run smooth again.

Bye. Can I haz your stuff.

Patch day is always going to be flakey. Like that with most online games.
Did you read? This is the record of my flakeyness experience, even if you consider previous expansion releases (like Horizons, which was way more massive).

Get your own stuff, I assume you want to blaze your own trail, etc, etc. Can't give you stuff anyway (no in-game mechanism for it if you are not aware).

Yes I just upgraded too.
But experience has taught me to not play for a couple of days.
Above all else, keep an eye on the forum (or go and explore its safer!)

Control options on Xbox have been royally messed up for HOTAS users. It's bad, really bad.

Makes me all the more glad to work a day job in my timezone.
I miss the initial release, the initial slow-download-flood, the initial server shart... by the time I get home and update, all the thargoids have been worked out and it just works.

Yeah, I forgot that department which sends marketing invite emails have little knowledge of how expansion launch really works. I think this is what irritated me most.

Hmmm, 6 words and you didn't get them right! Glass houses etc.

"Each release buggier than next? (Rant)"

That statement would mean the releases are getting progressively less buggy

Yep, the marketing and actual development have grown so far apart in the industry today that they actually manage to do more harm than good to public image/sales from time to time. I blame quarterly economics for that though, for the most part.

A shame. When the revenue shows this better we might see a change in the culture. But the way it is today is laughable. People are unhappy with unfinished products, but have little choice if they want said product.

But as public image is of such importance today, complaining about these things publicly actually matters. How much it matters varies by how well people who are taking in the feedback can read into it.

Jesus mate. It's not meant to be taken seriously. Think you need to find a sense of humour.

Are you sure his was?

It seems so to me, but how to be sure?

Hehe.

6 points for a(a word that got censored. guess the lingo was too posh) retentiveness. Much appreciate your minute attention to detail as the universe operates on dissecting. Am I joking? No idea.

But smileys are adolescent, right? Right??

Because trying to convey a meaning as well as possible is juvenile... how, again? :S
