No, exploration was removed. It's a pea-shooter now. 
I hear they deleted the ships as well.
And there it is.. acknowledged as the first official "They didn't do anything with the one feature I want, they don't care" thread.
You need to visit an engineer to unlock it first.
Of all the things Fdev choose to put in the game as something to find whilst exploring... they choose a train wreck?
* Riot
* Quit the game for good
* Write a huge wall of text on the forum that no-one can be bothered to read
* Hang around the forum for the next 4 years making stupidly inane comments about how bad the game is
* Proclaim game is dead/dying/terminal
* Take the Vee out of PeeVeePee and you're left with a load of peepees
* Get rid of solo/PG. Open only or you're not even worthy of being called a human being

Im looking for an excuse to head out into the black, a CG with a decal reward could be fun. An Easter egg hunt to seek out Earth like worlds to level.
