Amazed

I'm amazed by the relative low quantities of salt on the forums after such a large update. I'm not sure if it has been due to the fact that the beta was open or if it was just well done.

Either way, hats off to the devs, well done. Can't wait to get home and fire up the computer!

Are you reading the same threads as me? There still seems to be a bit, mainly from people misunderstanding the new crime and punishment system...

I do have a slight giggle at those bug reports where people have gotten stuck due to flying about in a ship that can't escape the system they are in and committing crimes...

Yeah, folks crying about C&P here and there, but otherwise it seems alright.

All I'm mainly seeing is:

OMG!!11!! ENGINGEERING IS TERRIBLE NAOW!2!! (even though it's better now)

or

LULZ CRIEM END PANISHMUNT IS SUPARTERRIBAD (even though it's better now)

Both usually from the same crowd, who have realised they now can't have godships stomping everyone without consequences.

Other than that, a few legitimate bugs crop up which are duly reported.

Are you reading the same threads? Pmsl?

Yes I am. The last few updates have been much worse in the terms of salt tonnage. For the most part, the debates have been relatively civil. I was expecting a complete meltdown on the order of magnitude of when the engineer update was introduced. That was bad.

I think the lack of salt is down to the patch actually being pretty darn good, and that the Beta allowed the saltiest to vent their spleen and uninstall etc before the main release.

I think the focused feedback allowed not only FDev to try and please some of the people most of the time but also allow such people that needed to, to go barmy on the forums.

The fact that Sandy mentioned they would be doing this again in a approx months time seems to me to be a preferred way forward in development, so people get what they want, or as close to what they want when Chapter 2 drops....

(Plus I personally also found the ignore user feature on thsi forum has reaped dividends for those embittered folks who always see the glass half empty, nay even a tenth full ;-) )

I like reading their bile, it gives me a warm sense of satisfaction knowing that they spent their precious time on this earth so utterly unable to to see past their own nose, and vomited words out onto a screen.

There might be a few minor hiccups, but overall, the update has been a big plus. We have good reason to be happy with FD right now.

They'll tweak those little things over time. All is well.

Its pretty good so far. The planets look awesome. Engineers are easy.
Mission boards are full

New CP is non issue.

Planets are one of my favorite parts, honestly, and prior to the beta I didn't think I'd care that much.

Having the variety of colors and textures really adds flavor to just running missions in the bubble.

Mission boards have plenty of missions, and I get to build a new pirate ship and re-engineer my fleet at my leisure. I want to go do the Ram Tah stuff, too, and all indications say that the Thargoids are about to kick us right in the teeth.

I'm a happy player atm.

Same here.

Now if FDev/xbox could give us console schmucks some joystick curves for the hotas I'd be ecstatic

This is the most I've played in over a year... I'm really enjoying the 3.0. IMHO they have mitigated one of the worst aspects of the game.

1) the layer upon layer of RNG of engineering modules is gone.
2) No more micromanaging materials... 100+ of each material, up to 300 grade 1 mats.... means we can all become packrats!!! Yay. No more pressure to throw away thing you just know you'll need later.
3) Pinned blueprints from levels 1-5. One per engineer... Maybe 2 or 3 would be better, but it's great to jump in my DBX The Jumpmeister General and head over to an engineer, pin a blueprint, come back and apply it whatever ship I like (I have nearly 30).
4) Planetary elements seem to be easier to find than before.
5) Missions are more likely to give you something you want.
6) THE CHIEFTAIN... WOooOOoot!
7) One of my favourite ships, the Type 9 now rocks 256T extra! Type 7 still needs a little off the top, though.
8) The Guardian puzzlette... That was a nice little distraction... still need to optimise my approach though... My current method is rough as a Badger's Asp.
9) Three days and still not been shot in open yet. I'm sure the basement dwelling tools will return, but it's been a great few days o7ing everyone left right and centre.
10) Low sodium diet is a good diet ;-)

Plus.... GORGEOUS PLANETS ONCE MORE... Maybe not quite the rugged splendour of yore, but hell the colours are sweeeet!

+1 rep. Yeah, they can be pretty entertaining. Like a train wreck. Can't stop myself from looking. ;)
