SRV auto refuel

The Common sense thing here is the Auto repair and manual refuel should be the other way round, it's simple technology to plug the SRV in for a recharge on getting back to the ship, the Repair on the other hand should be the one that needs to be selected, getting back to the ship with 1% hull and fixing it instantaneously is a bit... magical
and Yes, I know there's a load of fuel to be had planetside and all that working as intended stuff but it just make s more sense the other way round.

No. And it shouldn't auto-repair either. I should report *that* as a bug...

Yeah... go put a ticket in!

All this was thoroughly discussed - and promptly dismissed by FDev.

So defying all common sense, everything is indeed "broken as intended".
- Repairs : done instantaneously by magic handwavium or otherwise known as Boarding the Ship; Synthesis optional
- Refuel : Synthesis or Docking required

Can't say I have ever been worried about fuel in this game
You obviously weren't around when Horizons (2.0) came out. At that point SRVs guzzled fuel like no tomorrow, but there were a lot of complaints, so they toned that right down, and now it's almost impossible to run out of fuel. (Sound familiar?) A bit disappointing really, I'd like to have to be vaguely worried about running out of fuel occasionally (without having to spend my whole life on one planet).

they can repair almost instantly but not refuel? I find it very odd especially since all the materials are on my ship already.
? If they are on your ship then they are in your SRV, if they are in your SRV then you can refuel with synthesis, or just bloody look for the common mats needed to synthesis fuel in the first place. I'm currently doing the Guardian related stuff and I have just scouted around, grabbed any mats close by then gone to the Ruins. This way I can make sure I have enough to refuel at any given time.

At least they fixed the bug where your SRV didn't refuel even when you docked at a station :)

The no-refuel when boarding your ship, though, is intentional. Like it or not, that's how they want it.

I always hoover up mats anyway, so running out of SRV fuel is just not an issue for me.

They are independent SRV's. Fuel is easy to come by on planets, also keep in mind that switching off non essential modules saves fuel, and driving economically will cause fuel consumption to drop. Can't say I have ever been worried about fuel in this game, with the new material limits it is even more of a non issue.

Jeez it's like your own episode of [Old]Top Gear without the three plonkers in a bath tub :D

...and now it's almost impossible to run out of fuel...

Try buzzing around the Guardian sites (e.g. with the old Ram Tah mission). All that climbing over rough terrain and flying over those plateaus is guzzling fuel at a prodigous rate, and no rocks to scrounge.

But you are ok with that, the problem is the people that wants to get the materials to unlock the new items, they don't give a d*** about refuelling, they are just annoyed they can't do everything in one run.

You being annoyed because you're presumably 'better than' just proves that you don't understand what the OP meant.
the subject is not about whether you have any on the planet or in your ship/SRV or how easy it is to come by or if you're out doing Guardian stuff and you top up, it's about if you can magically repair then why not magically refuel too.
And looking at ED's ability to magically reproduce in seconds a fully kitted and engineered Anni/Cutter/Vetty at any station with a large landing pad I'm surprised you don't get a full tank with the SRV repair wand.

Fairly certain it should auto repair on the ship, refuel requires a station dock. Not that it matters, you can't drive half a km without finding fuel.

Exactly... You use Synthesis to refuel your SRV. Reboarding the ship repairs the SRV.

2 days ago i was out by the guardian sites doing the Ram Tah thang, and my SRV started to run out of fuel and i didnt have the mats to Synthesis some more. As my SRV was running of fumes i was forced to board my ship... enter orbit and surface scan various worlds within the system to look for the hightest % of sulphur, i then descended to the surface of one world and started the photo finish search for Sulphur and found some seconds before my SRV dropped dead.....'jubilations!'

As simple as that sounds, i really enjoyed that little snip of gameplay and in a game that is slowly and progressively becoming easier and more hand holding over time it was a breath of fresh air and made me fall a tiny bit back in love with ED.

So you have to come prepared for Guardian sites? Who'd have thought that...

the argument that one can easily find some rocks to refuel applies to repair too. yet you can auto repair as soon as you boarded your ship.
since when repairing is faster/easier than refueling? it's about consistency and logic. you either get both or none. don't give me the synthesis excuse here please.
