Stay dry CMDR
My first love will always be Elite in all forms and nothing, not even buggy/terrible content release will ever change that.....I just need a break(and I've already been chewed by the Subnautica Leviathan
Stay dry CMDR
Thanks to Maro and Kitty, I did find a Distro centre in said systems!
Thanks again! [heart]
As far as Engineering goes, I have found that it is much more a PITA in 3.0 than it was in =<2.4. In 2.4, I could usually do 1 or 2 G5 rolls and apply an experimantal effect and be done with a module that I could live with. NOW, I have to spend inordinate amounts of time gathering materials for modification, and then pay 6x more materials to add an effect. This is clearly not better, for me.![]()
Im having the complete opposite experience. Funny how that works. I love the fact that I can now do basically all my engineering from whatever station I'm at, and the higher mat storage means I pick up everything I find so I dont have to grind for certain mats right before I plan on using them.
I thought much the same, for a time. When I started to see that getting g5 data was going to be a total asspain, my point of view started to shift. The thing that irks me tha most though is the steep cost for secondary effects. #notgood

Fit a wake scanner - scan two or three wakes on your way out of each station.
Haven't been short of DWEs since I started doing that as part of my normal routine.
I do scan everything already as I leave stations, and ships while in SC, I guess I have just had horrible luck. I've literally been looking for Distro centers now since yesterday evening, not a single one found.![]()
The really sad thing about this, is that the Wake Scanner does have an in-game purpose, but nothing in the world, not missions or anything, actually require you to use it. Everyone only uses it as a way of getting mats.
Seldom will you ever actually be required to chase someone with it, unless you are trolling them.
IMO it's absolutely pathetic that Fdev haven't put anymore work into the environment in which you obtain DWE, considering everyone wants it for FSD upgrades; surely getting them should be as a consequence of doing something fun - such as chasing down pirates, or pursuing another player for something greater than for the lolz. (Or the 30 merits I guess, if your power play actions don't all boil down to finding the fastest way to grind).
Anyway, rant over, got no interest in this game again as half the stuff that agitates me is still here, and more noticeable than ever. Also Vermitide 2 just came out.
I've gotten DWE's from scanning shipwreck beacons inside Encoded Signal Sources. Also from surfaces beacons.
So have I, but they are far and few between. Famine Distro Centres are a much more reliable place to spend a couple hours scanning wakes for a range of data, that includes DWEs.
Now, another question I recently have, is how does one get a Conda to 60LY jump range post 3.0? I just bought one, made it light weight, and fully engineered FSD (max g5 with fuel increase effect), installed some basic mods for exploration, and have a lot of empty slots, and only get about 36LY jump range. What gives?

Did you put a 6A FSD in there before you engineered it?
That was the first thing I did before taking it out of dry dock. Also went and D rated almost everything, put the smallest D shield gen, ect.Did you put a 6A FSD in there before you engineered it?
You want mass manager first of all.

Then you'll need to downgrade whatever modules you can, and use lightweight everywhere.
I have boost and shields and still break 60.

I will look into this, thanks!
I've never had a Conda before (have multiple Vettes and Cutters), so I have no real point of reference from 2.x to 3.0 other than seeing all these exploracondas doing insane jump ranges from pre 3.0.
