FD has reduced the number of ships you can store in a single station in 3.x...?

I had 38 ships in the station I used as HQ, to reduce the logistics headache with engineered modules etc. - all transferred using the ship transfer function.

Just docked and wanted to recall the diamondback taxi I had used earlier to get to a Corvette parked in a war system. I can't recall it, even though my number of ships here is actually down to 35 ships, since I stationed some purpose-built ships in their respective locations...

I mean why should we be limited like that at all?

Don't I grind credits to have ships? There sure isn't anything else in the game to use them for.

I think it's pretty weird that you could store 30+ ships in a single station. If I were FD I'd have made it a much more realistic number, like, 5 large, or 10 medium or 20 small.

to more appropriately answer the OP, for some reason I always believed the limit was 30, so this is all news to me. Maybe it's time to sell off a few. ;)

I sold 10 of my 14 ships recently, the sense of release (from having to re-engineer them all) was palpable. I'll enjoy buying them back as time goes by, and I still have my 4 ships that I actually use. The only ones I subsequently regretted selling were the T9 and the Orca. T9 has already been rebought, Orca next.

lol i guess i am one too.... i loved walking around my garage in ... PGR IV i think it was and loved buying cars in forza, indeed it was my pramary reason for playing many games where you can collect stuff.

i dream on one day in ED having my own hanger and walking around looking at my collection of ships, 1 day i want one variant of every ship in the game.

i see the point about ship storage in a station needing limits, but i would love it one day if i could just land all my ships on a remote moon and put an encrypted personal locator beacon on it and storing them there. (it would need to be safe tho)

You condescend to the OP for wanting to build a fleet and the usual hint of "you're playing the game wrong".

It is in everyone's interest to allow the least barriers to ship ownership in the game, since it's about the only progression that exists. Do you not want people to own more ships, therefore spend more time in game flying, engineering etc.

Yeah it's always been 35 for as long as I've been playing. Not sure how you managed to squeeze 38 in there.

Totally...my meta is to collect all the ships in order of basic hull worth...it keeps things interesting in game for me as for each new ship I change my gameplay to suit that ship. My latest was the Imperial Clipper and I've been using that for mining and passenger missions. For now, I've gone back to my FAS to run missions for the Feds in and around Tun to get my ranking up for the FGS...starting to get close to the big ships...can't wait to get that Python after 3 years playing.

Originally, I was going to A-rate all the ships and keep them equipped, and indeed, most of my ships up to the latest couple are, but with the advent of engineering (which I don't do a great deal of), I've started swapping modules between ships (Clipper and FDS or FAS share a lot of module sizes)...saves cash as well...I have about 160,000,000 to kit out my FGS when I get it...just waiting for the damned ranking mission to appear...they seem to take an age these days.

we play similar.... not exactly the same as i have no size limit however i NEVER sell a ship hull i do not already have a variant of, and i also never strip a ships core modules down to get cash to spec another one out.

I do sometime swap out optional extras like passenger bays, cargo racks and the like.

its worked well for me and kept the game interesting, and means even now i am a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way off either the cutter or the corvette.

I do now have the monies for a new ship... FDL or Chieftain... i am not sure which. :)

I think i own just around 20 ships.

This.

Speaking as the owner of a pretty large "fleet", I wouldn't really have a problem with the maximum number being reduced significantly.

Having all your ships, and especially modules, in one place just makes for a big headache when it comes to remembering what's used for what.
Far easier to store your ships/modules at different stations according to purpose IMO.

Course, having said that, as long as it doesn't have any impact on the game, if people want to store 30-odd ships and 120-odd modules in one station, good luck to 'em. [up]

its pretty weird but its game. Imagine every player in game can store 35 ships in one station in worst case 2 milion x 35 ?. Logic? No.

But some penalty as storing cost per cycle would be nice :D

That's never going to happen.

I leave the game for a year due to work commitments, come back and find that my bank-balance is -Cr1.5bn or something?

that or ship confiscated :D it would be nice to be connected with faction mega ships in next update. Like 0% penalty for storing in your mega ship. Or connected with power-play, faction bases 0% penalty etc.

It's been 35 for as long as I can remember, for whatever that's worth.

I'll also just mention that I also have more than 35 ships, and hope those expressing incredulity at such a possibility won't be unduly traumatized by that fact.

Think it was higher at some point near the start. 50 perhaps. There's a reason it's 35: issues were had. Big issues.

GALNET: "Recent reports of failing Stations in the Pleiades Star Cluster have erroneously been attributed to heavy Thargoid activity. Whilst there have been significant losses due to the Xeno Conflict, the majority of failures have been caused by Pilots overloading the Storage Hangars - causing undue stress on the station's Orbital Thrusters.

When asked for comment, a Station Flight Controller replied "A Coriolis is not Hermione's Beaded Handbag.. We can barely keep this thing in orbit!"

Rumours of Station Tech's "Joy Riding" unattended ships have neither been confirmed or denied."

I use cheap ships to store modules, so having hundred of them is not out of question. Station limit is no big deal though - as I tend not to store them all in one station anyway.
Its mainly due to silly module storage limits - if you think about it, they at least also should be *per station* and not *global*.

I wouldn't know what to do with all them, 38 wow image how many materials you need to engineer all them

You certainly have to get good at farming materials ^^

I've never tried to have "all the ships", but the ones I do like, I like to have different configurations.. short range, long range, different weapons etc.

Or the Python - in certain places, you can make more money in less time, if you can land on a medium pad - and trade setups are cheap, so I park them where I need them, so I can use my Diamondback taxis to go there quickly.

The one ship I still haven't figured out how to set up is the Cutter lol... But I know it can be more than a trader - saw a YouTube video with a guy fighting a Corvette and an FDL at the same time, with station guns on him and killing both before the station guns got him...
