Frontier, my time is valuable

I just spent 30 minutes waiting for a salvage mission signal source to appear in Bhotega before I gave up. I had an hour and a half to play this evening. A third wasted.

Can you please make these poxy things appear once you're in proximity to the target body? At most a minute or so. There's simply no gameplay need for a random number generated wait period...what am I supposed to do in game in the meantime for crying out loud? I can only listen to Galnet so many times.

How do I watch Netflix, Podcasts, Seinfeld reruns in game?

I have my computer set up on my desk in the living room, facing the TV across the room, so I can easily watch Netflix or a movie while I'm playing Elite.

I don't have any other games where this setup is necessary or useful however. Heck even Civ VI requires more interactions and attentiveness than Elite.

Frack. :(

Yea... Welcome to the wonderful world of Elite: RNG. One of the finer aspects of this game don't you think? Nah, I can't even joke about it, sometimes it's just downright atrocious. There could be gameplay involved with 'finding' specific signal sources, but nah, it'll show up eventually.

Did you try Assassinations before the more recent patch? Those were even more fun, wait X time for the target to show up, interdict, damage target, target runs away and high wakes, high wake scan to pursue, upon jump target is no longer a mission target, return to previous system, wait for target to respawn, FUN, well, about as fun as a reocurring venereal disease anyway.

This has happened to me a bunch of times as well. I'm not even 100% sure that it's an RNG issue. It's hard for me to buy into the idea that they'd set an RNG timer for this with a range going all the way up to 30 minutes. I think it's more likely to be a networking issue of some sort, or maybe, maybe there's some subtle thing that triggers the activation of the signal source such as how close to the body you are, or which side of the body you are on, or something like that.

Anyway I think logging in and out of the game can help.

Pretty much giving up on missions from the mission board, they give so little for the time and effort required. Least as far as the more RNG ones go.

The game's so boring now that I always watch TV at the same time.
Then you are playing the wrong game for you.

"Went for a hike in the forest and all I saw was trees. What a waste of time that was."

Don't worry. You just told everyone where you are. Your next game session will be much more exciting.

I think I never had to wait more than 3 minutes in SC to get a savage USS in the last 2 years, but that must be just RNG.

Wow, they still haven't fixed this?

Whaddayaknow, whaddayasay! A complaint I can get behind for a change. (Also take note: op is complaining in an emotional way, yet not offending anybody in advance that might disagree. I say a rarity indeed!)
Seriously op, you're right here. Had the same problem with a number of assassination missions. The damn mission-USS just refused to pop up.
This used to happen quite a lot back in the day. But that was back in the day...
So what gives FDev? Mind checking in on this old bug poppin up again?

Is it bad, that I have Warframe on a console, right next to the PC, and in some cases can run an entire mission in it, or in fact a few, whilst I wait for N to happen in elite? Like here I am in sweet jacked up pimp-daddy threads styling like a boss, just handing everything it's behind and whipping across the map like some kind of drugged up space jesus bringing the light of justice and extreme fire power to the masses.

Meanwhile in elite, after driving in a straight line for the entire time there's the high-grade USS spawning it's just gotta be, right?! I've been a very good boi, Santa Sandro, please, it's the right 'deep space' location - so close any second.. BAM! There's the USS.

Right, back to fashion-frame then. It's not that Elite is bad. It's actually terrific. It's just the s-l-o-w RNG is a bit mentally draining. It's such a great game, it's just the infernal 'wait at x, for y' seems to happen more. Good things take time. I get it. It's all good. But does it sometimes have to take so much time? :(

Love you Frontier. Just pls.

And there's frequently a secret technique that you have to employ to even get the things to spawn in the first place, before you can even start spinning the roulette wheel
