Greetings,
One of the most useful editions to Elite Dangerous would simply be an RNG reset button. That totally eliminates the logout/login many use to refresh the mission boards, mining, planetary prospecting and guardian/thargoid/special bases items. Did I miss anything? My perception is that no player takes the trouble to go to Dav's Hope, gather the material canisters once then leaves. Logout/login is required here. Same with a thargoid base trying to unlock Prof Palin. So why not add the button and be done with it. It won't change the grind as some see playing the game. It also wouldn't be simple to implement as in rescuing refugees at a station attacked by thargoids, power play, CG's etc not having an advantage using it.
The big problem would be using it when not docked in a station. Your ship is attacked while mining, on a planet surface while you are in a SRV and hit the refresh button. This would have to be locked out and NOT interfere with any game play situations that would give the user an advantage. It should never be available in Supercruise. Maybe start out docked at stations only at the mission board then expand it later if that works OK.
Of course adding this will somehow mess up the missions per the new bugs. It is a given with every ED update and I've come to expect them versus complaining about them. That's OK with me. It's a game.
Technically a refresh button might also be easier on the servers versus the logout/login solution.
Some will like the idea. Others will say logout/login is not playing the game as it was intended. This has been discussed in many many posts over the years. Players make up their own rules which is fine. The problem is that some expect everyone else to play within their rules. Given Frontier's response over the years I'd say they are OK with the logout/login crowd but don't talk about it much.
That's my two cents of opinion. Have at it per comments. I'm not one to 'protect' my OP suggestion putting down others who disagree in an effort to get 15 pages of replies. Frontier either likes it or doesn't.
Meanwhile I'm currently at Dav's Hope going for another trip around the facility logout/login having fun when I select Open mode to play with others. They can be amusing...Some attack but don't realize an experienced SRV combat pilot can do damage to both an SRV and the ship that they landed but didn't recall especially if they are 'wanted' thus no C&P punishment generating bounties to collect within the system (Yes, there is a base here). Not good for a remote base. A player could easily become an SRV griefer! Still I wonder how many hours it would take to max out my mat cargo picking up the goodies. Also wondering when I dismiss my ship does it still use fuel? From what I've seen maybe not.
Regards to All
