Disclaimer and my Opinion
The game definitely has similarities to Operation Genesis, but I really don’t think that is a bad thing as it was a good game in my view. But, I am happy to concede that JWE is looking to be a fantastic improvement to its predecessor as it has expanded in areas that JPOG did not have. THUS, I decided to pay for the pre-order. I would like to say now that I won’t be speculating on anything that I did not see in any of the footage that has been provided so far, whether it was the official gameplay demo or a youtuber. I would also like to say everything is also just my opinion, I am very happy for anyone to disagree with me or correct me where I am incorrect. I also acknowledge it was only a demo, and the game could change or be different on release…but I can only comment on what I have seen. Moving on….

Graphically outstanding dinosaurs, the cutscenes as they are introduced into their paddocks is a wonderful feature. But I must admit that I am also grateful there is an option to skip, and hopefully in the release there will be an option to turn it off. The partial insight we got into the weather system was also aesthetically pleasing, it really adds something to the game. In addition, I really liked the realistic looking terrain, it makes the dinosaurs near them feel more natural and beautiful. However, the landscape tools, maybe a little too basic? Not many options from what we saw in the demo. It might be a small issue to some, but no rocks either? BUT it was only a demo I guess. Maybe other islands have different landscaping aesthetics, well that’s my hope. The buildings look okay, I think they could be doing with improvements in terms of how they look. Not being able to edit that is disappointing, but I don’t think it will ruin the game for me. Overall the game is looking beautiful and it was only a demonstration, but I think we can agree the look of guests could be doing with major improvements and hopefully there will be more animations in terms of behaviours of dinosaurs/guests.
Gameplay
I love the contracts and missions as a part of the game. The implied consequences from the missions directly have me very curious and certainly something I am looking to make happen. Furthermore, having three divisions vying for my attention and my decisions affecting that relationship with them I feel is a great addition. I am happy that a controller system is in place if I want to use it, as I will be on a PC version of the game it will make flying a lot easier. The cosmetic gene research tree, I was grateful to see. The idea that I can change the look of a dinosaur minorly was very pleasing news. In fact, the ability to modify the dinosaurs genes is a great addition especially since it was very important in the novels as a topic and in the movies. I think it show’s that Frontier have put a lot of effort in when it comes to lore. I am glad there are varying degrees to the dinosaur’s happiness and their requirements, I feel that was a natural addition to the game anyway. The importance that power production has for park creation I felt added some challenge into the game and ensures that you are limited to what you can achieve with how much power you can produce. As far as I can remember it will be particularly important when having electrified fences, don’t want the dinosaurs getting out after all…or do we? Overall, from the footage I have seen I am excited to get playing the game when it comes out!
