It's a dirty job that no one wants to do, but someone has to step up and take out the garbage at some point. It's like clearing a drain, or mucking out a stable; career offenders are never going to mend their ways unless someone finally teaches them that they need to...or else.

Edit: soloing wing assassination missions are not challenging

And of course it has to be a self-righteous player who does it, right? Justice may be blind, she just isn't as full of herself.

Put up or shut up. I'll wait for your video of you in a B-rated Python clearing one. Truthfully I don't give a damn about your wing assassination mission yes it's not a challenge in a fully engineered ship, but the reward for the mission isn't worthwhile anyways. What I really want to see is you take that same ship into a CZ where you are already hostile to one of the factions and see how you do when you are insta-ganked by 5+ NPCs.

You are arousing my suspicions, however I should pronounce your name. I'm starting to get a picture of a career criminal who sees that their days as a lawbreaker are finally numbered.

In a thread about the divide between PVP'ers and PVE'er otherwise known as "why is open an irrelevant ghost town largely ignored by the dev's" whose approach is likely to worsen the issue ?.

Diddums.

Well, I for one will rest a lot more easy ... rest a lot easier ... rest easy a lot .... am very happy in the comfortable knowledge that Sir Barron patrols the bubble looking for scoundrels while I have left it to look for far away sjinies.

Ah, so now you're finally going to try to get the thread back on track after so many pages of it not being on point? Nice!

I thought you were going to be my ride along!

Open is far from a ghost town and most folks are friendly. What really kill it's potential is the lack of impromptu coop and the lack of meaningful and structured PvP.

Try to think solely in terms of combat. Not PvE as a whole. Your argument is the same as someone saying that traders vs PvP ships are unbalanced, as they inherently should be. Mission runners are not combat ships. They can hold their own, and in many cases destroy every NPC threat. But that's combat against still vastly underpowered foes.

I think that's what most of us are talking about. One style of pure combat vs another. The optimal loadouts differ. It'd be nice if they didn't. We're not asking for normal missions to throw min-maxed NPCs with god skills at you. We're asking for them to exist in appropriate places so that a PvP player has PvE content to enjoy that won't end in hatemail or logging. :3

Ah, ok. Makes more sense.

In that case, pure PvP and PvE combat ships only differ in weapon choices, and FSD class/rating. There's very little else to separate them if the CMDR has engineered them to the maximum.

But, PvE only combat ships don't need to be as "over engineered" as PvP, so the demand for "moar power!" tapers off for PvErs long before PvPers.

That's where the difference falls. Basically personal choice.

My combat (turned anti Thargoid) FDL is highly engineered, but is still no match for a "meta" PvP FDL.
But it also doesn't need to be, because NPC's and Thargoids aren't that big of a threat. (Ok, Thargoids can be, but I have the hitpoints and speed to escape if needed).

My FDL will likely never be fully engineered, because nothing I plan on doing with it requires it yet, so spending time doing so, is wasted time.

:)

Have I tempted you to the darkside where it's OK to be nice to people if you feel like it ?.

You must beware those of the pained buttocks will assail you with wailing and gnashing of teeth, I suggest throwing your head back and laughing in a manly manner whilst being sarcastic in return.

The résistance is like liquid - you just can't get hold of it. Even more so since I don't play in open anymore, but that is because of engineers - not the self-righteous.
Before you might have noticed me (too late) as the insuspicious Viper that suddenly shoved missiles in your rear when you were busy with a higher priority target. And the character is "DeLacy" - I wouldn't use such a long name in a game. Imagine typing that into a log in box.

Business as usual, in other words.

Just a quick question Robert, do you have any idea the percentage of current players who don't own Horizons? Since Horizons was released in Dec 2015 I would find it difficult to understand why someone who still plays ED hasn't purchased Horizons given the additional content contained in it.
If they play on a Mac, they can't play Horizons. It's not available for purchase, because of limitations in the Mac platform.

I think I've sussed out what the latest murder troll activity is. Fit KWS & wake scanner then hang around outside the res sites of bounty hunting CG's or the closest interstellar factor and go for anyone with a friendly fire bounty. It fits all the criteria :

1 It's the same mindset as trying to ambush explorers handing in data.
2 They've not been able to resist forum taunting about bypassing the bounty system for murder-trolling.
3 People with an FF bounty are likely already salty.
4 Maximize salt by uploading "bounty hunting" video's.
5 It sounds incredibly boring.
6 And it's very sad indeed, the hallmark of murder trolls.

There we have it gentlemen and ladies, proof positive I think.
