I think I've sussed out what the latest murder troll activity is. Fit KWS & wake scanner then hang around outside the res sites of bounty hunting CG's or the closest interstellar factor and go for anyone with a friendly fire bounty. It fits all the criteria :

1 It's the same mindset as trying to ambush explorers handing in data.
2 They've not been able to resist forum taunting about bypassing the bounty system for murder-trolling.
3 People with an FF bounty are likely already salty.
4 Maximize salt by uploading "bounty hunting" video's.
5 It sounds incredibly boring.
6 And it's very sad indeed, the hallmark of murder trolls.

There we have it gentlemen and ladies, proof positive I think.

You frame that like it's a bad thing...

Yeah bounty hunting is just an excuse for griefing now. /s

Nothing the PvP community does in game is bad. The problem with the PvP community and their advocates is that they feel the need to have the other 95% of the community cater to their whims. The OP started this thread about increasing the strength of NPCs while giving the thread the most inflammatory title he could come up with, a title only tangentially related to the subject at hand. Having done that he then pulls a little drama queen move bemoaning the gulf in the community, a gulf he has played no small part in aggravating, and gives us his farewell cruel world speech. Truthfully, if he holds to that promise it'll be the most substantial move he's made to bridge that gulf. Unlike others I don't think the game would be better without PvP. However, if they would just shut up and play, we'd find out pretty quickly how much the community would improve without their yapping.

Wow. Well said Cmdr!
Wish I could double-rep you but I can only give one.
The truth is the “PvP’er” can’t play on their own or with themselves hence the moaning.
Go up against a T-Ship or my like-minded fellow in a equally Engineered combat machine? Hmmmm....

So, we don't need PvP. Sorted. Next Issue?

Planetary onionhead plantations...from plants planted in a planetary plantation on a plantary planet which has been planetized...

No seriously wait...they could be underground so as to be outta sight outta mind from all the naive young 7 year olds playing the game...and require frequent jumponium synths to keep the lights going...?

Still, out of CZ's, any fight between a player modded ship and an equivalent unmodded NPC ship is trivial, no matter the NPC rank.
I disagree... while it may be true in at least some one on one situations it is far from universally the case.

Engineering in general may increase effective capability of any given ship it is far from a magic bullet that allows players to trivially win all current PvE fights (even outside RES/CZ areas). In the big 4 it may be the case but then they do require a large investment in both time and in-game credits to get to that point thus their relative capability is fully justifiable. You don't fly the bigger ships for a challenge, you fly them because they are the apex ships. If you want a challenge, you might use the Python or cheaper craft. The FDL may be slightly better off than the Python for some higher end PvE encounters but it can be unforgiving.

Overall, there are ALOT of variables and assumptions in play - if you avoid certain OP builds the challenge is there, but even then it is highly subjective as personal flying skill is also a factor.

Where the OP builds are concerned, FD should not do anything to try and produce NPC challenges for that build level IMO.

why would it not be ok, they're only space magic, aren't dictated by player rules at all, and are infinite. Normally thats how one does any activity is the OODA loop, or well risk assessment, PVE Bounty Hunting is obviously really low on that list, including the thargoids. Unless you're referring about PVP bounty hunting.

+rep for OODA loop!

Guys, I'm middle-aged, working, wife, two kids. I'm also rather clumsy. I ENJOY Elite Dangerous. I would NOT enjoy being pitted against AI opponents as good as, say, Fretnox, Morbad, or Harry Potter. I'd not stand a chance, no matter how well outfitted my ship would be.

Fact is, it's a game, it's supposed to be fun, and not only for people who have better reflexes than I have, not to mention the time, talent, and dedication to "git gud" (all of which I lack).

There is also the slight issue of compensation. When "harvesting" in a HazRes my (heavily engineered) corvette, I usually make about 4 million credits per hour. Rebuy: ten times that, just over 40 million credits. Were I pitted against opponents I'd have a really tough time beating, I would expect to be offered fair value in return. However, if that were to happen, many would immediately claim that the game would be getting too easy.

Sorry, guys, I do not agree with those who say the game should be made more difficult. I want to play without spending many hours trying to hone my reflexes. That's not how ED was marketed, anyway, and I kinda doubt there are many people here who would do well when seated in a real fighter jet. Just sayin'.

And, no, I'm not attacking anybody. I'm just saying my mind: I want this game to be fun and relaxing. For me, it's challenging enough as it is. Thank you.

Indeed. What the hardcore sometimes forget is there are people with less skill than them. Which is why i say make hardcore encounters be based on player choices, eg: Thargoid spawns.

Or not just skill, by player choice. I'm now mainly flying Cobras, and while taking a thargoid out in a Cobra might be possible, i don't want to have to run the gauntlet of facing a thargoid level opponent when running A to B missions. Some might say, i need to git gud, but overall, i just want to play the game, not worry about any metagame.

And thats perfectly fine to stay out of the METAGAME. But dont snub others that want to be in the METAGAME.
