If someone from Fdev streams themselves unlocking all the Guardian tech. I will eat my eye patch.

If you noticed, It is apparent the DEV's rarely play their own game, in videos posted by the DEVs, you see a lack of skill in planetary landing or entry and exit from space stations, NPC/player combat etc. They should be the unequaled experts.
Seems to me, and I have been playing daily almost 2 years, that they add items and additional attributes without first testing actual repetitive play scenarios - or real-time use of those issued items - Being a procedural game, I understand that all scenarios cannot be fully investigated, - but my, and others experiences after launch of those new additions are NOT being well thought or discussed beforehand - Nerfing or augmenting the game after protests or pleadings from the Community at large seems to be a reverse of the normalcy of any business code of conduct - You cant please all the people all the time, but dealing with exposed exploits or adding features without proper determination is not good policy.

So how many times is an acceptable number, in order to have access to all the new Guardian toys?

Personally, I feel 18 is unreasonable but think 6 is probably fair - with the caveat that each Guardian site only provides a single blueprint type.

I don't care what the number is - so long as the activities are a) FUN and b) DIFFERENT. The key bit is the fun part.

Watching all the pretty lights was probably interesting - once or twice.

They sure don't play it on console, that much is obvious. What button do I press?

I'd probably be tempted to spend money or something if they did this. As it stands now I only make purchases on the Frontier store once in a blue moon for certain things like black friday paint jobs or weapon/exhaust colors. I'd buy a lot of the stuff that I think is ugly though if they'd actually cut away this useless grind some. I mean theres a reason I'm focusing hardcore on Monster Hunter World (aside from the fact its a hell of a game), and focusing on Overwatch and even renewing my wow sub to once a week raid... it's because despite I love this game this grind is unbearable and makes me want to rip my eyes out.

Also I see someone copied the Descent shield orb avatar I use =O.

If you actually liked that game series you'll love Overload on steam which is about to go live. Made from the same devs who made the Descent series.

I think this would be a very good thing.

Ed, livestreaming, without any special 'dev tricks', and with perhaps one or two 'respected' members of the forum community joining him to 'observe' as he completes this task, and I will donate £100 immediately on completion (and subject to all stipulations being satisfied) to a charity of the community's choice.

HOWEVER

My stipulations are that:

* This livestream is completely live, and with no competitions, no other distractions, no 'special guests', no 'To Be Continued'.
* Ed uses absolutely no shortcuts whatsoever.
* Ed must start the stream from the station that gives the mission, and with a completely empty hold (he can fill it with whatever he wishes once the stream starts).
* The ship being used must use a maximum of standard engineered modules only.
* Previous to the stream, the community votes on which guardian tech is to be unlocked.
* After the stream, I would also like to see a special forum thread created specifically to discuss the stream, and the conclusions drawn from it's outcome - with FDev responding to sensible, and repeated issues raised.

Feel free to add anything I might have missed. I'm serious about this as I believe fun has definitely been replaced by game mechanics designed to try and keep players in-game for as long as possible in order to perhaps skew the playing figures.

I will also be tweeting a link to this specific post - please feel free to share it around. Let's see if Frontier can put my money where their mouth is.

(if there's enough interest, then we could consider extending this to something like a JustGiving page)

Perfect, and perfectly reasonable.

I like the Guardian sites for sightseeing, but as soon as I realised what was required for the Guardian tech I decided not to bother with any of it. I knew that pursuing it would just make me hate the Guardian sites and resent playing the game.

It's a shame - if this "gameplay" had been implemented well it could have been a blast.

Oh well.

Once. One puzzle per site. Each site grants a different blueprint. Done. This nonsense grind for grind's sake has poisoned all our expectations into thinking this crap is ok if only just tuned. It needs to be fixed outright. There's enough trouble just getting the other materials. Forcing people to solve the same puzzle more than once is asinine.
Exactly! This would be reasonable. The current situation is NOT.

Been following this thread for a couple days now. What gives me the most grins is the deafening crickets from our "betters".

C'mon Sandro. Where's your "challenge accepted!"?

You're so keen on virtue signaling about not wasting our time.

Step up. Livestream grinding this out like the rest of us plebes.

And please do pontificate all along about how rewarding it is. (Minus the giggling.. tyvm).

Strap on that sock puppet and show us how it's really done!

I got to the bit where the chap said "and in true ED fashion you have to relog and do this again four times", the rest is a bit of a blur as I was laughing so much.

Kudos to the vid maker tho its very well done and if I ever wanted to put myself through this I would indeed follow it.

Also hats off to the chaps who made the sites they really do look great but thats not enough of a reason to go to them.

If it was go here do this once get that, go to the next one do this get that and so forth then yeah more people might have seem some of the better work the FD devs put into the game, alas for now Ill skim the odd youtube vid and enjoy it like so much of this game on a 3rd party site.

And maybe as a bonus stream, they could create a new commander, give him a billion credits, with the task to go out, buy an Anaconda, outfit it for PvP and G5 engineer all modules and weapons on it.

Of course all the mats for engineering would have to be gathered manually. ;)

I mean, come on, it's only one ship. Can't be that hard, right? 72h stream?

In all seriousness, has anyone ‘officially’ raised this idea with FDEV? Via Paige on the FB channel or sending Ed, Will or Sandro a PM? I think it’s a good idea for a stream and would definitely watch at least the first couple of hours.

I started doing Guardian stuff for the Ram Tah mission, just because it was something to do. After 2 nights of 4+ hours each of faffing around and not getting anywhere, I decided the whole thing was boohockey and ditched the mission. Far too much faffing and grinding to hold my interest for long enough to complete. Guardian upgraded modules? I'm alright thanks, I will stick with what I have and keep my sanity!

I would rather suggest sending PM to Mr Braben, so that he forces Sandro to grind for all guardian stuff for as long as it takes, no dev hack tools or anything.
And he won't be allowed to go to toilet either, until he unlocks everything the "proper" way.

If that's not an eye-opening experience, we can call it doom and never complain about grind again, because Sandro will be the titan of grinding.

Ahh you do know sandro vaules our time....

I see the point you’re making, there’s a lot I’m not happy with and I would love to have a couple of questions answered by FDEV myself.

That said, I think your tone is a bit snide (with multiple examples of far worse on this thread) and that really doesn’t help things. It gets people’s backs up and makes it easier not to take ligitimate criticism seriously.

Can we please raise issues respectfully? The community has laid out a challenge to our community team and I’d like to see their response - no reason for this to go beyond that.
