The big reason we have these same arguments over and over is (and I can hear the clippity clop of white knight fanvoys already) Frontier, and their desire to capture the biggest market share with the least amount of work, resulting in a broken game of wobbly mechanics built on top of other incomplete mechanics that doesnt know what it wants to be, for example pitched as 'choices have impact' in a harsh unforgiving galaxy, yet slowly lowering its difficulty and challenge to the point its barely more engaging than Space Farmville, saying theyre cracking down on cheats when they havent, and not throwing their weight around regarding gankers and exploits in general until some of the chosen few got targeted.
As their cash cow and with people still spending a fortune on vanity items, this isnt going to change as they wont want to rock the boat. The closest we came to that was the ai overhaul and we saw how quickly that got wound back in.
As a old school star wars galaxies player, I have to say youre wrong there.

Games do evolve but not totally change character which is what those seeking guild and open dominance are asking for.
